I think it's daily.
Isn't he talking about the sMerit given to merit sources?
The source sMerit will come back in 30 days after its spending date. If you sent 5 source sMerit on 18 March, you should receive 5 source sMerit again on 18 April. So if you spent it daily during the previous month then you'll receive it every day in the next month.
So, how about member which not become merit source? Are they only receive sMerit by getting merit from other?

That is just to control Spam, And it will remain until you are brand new and New so don't worry it will be fine the longer you go

I'm so upset. I was almost reaching Member rank. Now I have to get more 90 merit points. Perhaps, this method should have a kind of sortness to be implemented, wich lead those who are closer to reach new ranks to have more merit points at beginning. However, it's gone! Hope this get the forum a better place.
Let's get some merit points.

It should take a hard effort now to increase the rank level. Because now using merit system and not easy to get it. But I will try to continue to be able to raise rank by obtaining merit. Because now the activity is not too decisive in the rank increase

Yes but its too hard to earn merit for newbie. creating original content is very difficult job. And someone review it and give us merit is also luck factor.

AGREED

For normal people who don´t have enough time to be 24 hours here looks unattainable scale a rank.

No one asked you to be here 24 hours a day. All you need to rank up is at least 14 posts per period = 2 weeks so mathematically it returns to be 1 post a day, also you need merit points that can be earned by helping others or creating interesting topics.

also you need merit points that can be earned by helping others or creating interesting topics.

That's how it should work but in reality it doesn't... at least for now while the merit-system is relatively new.

[GUIDE] Exporting your private-key from ImToken, Jaxx, Eidoo and Parity

[GUIDE] How to import your private-key from another wallet to MEW/MetaMask

[MyEtherWallet] Creating a (new) keystore-file using your private-key

[SECURITY | GUIDE] How to protect your wallets and private keys >> 1 merit

[SECURITY] Generate your secure IOTA-Seed without using insecure online-generators

I don't really care about merit but writing those guides was time-consuming and the return was 1 merit... Whatever... Hopefully there were still some people reading it at least.
Would have preferred some kind of reputation-system.

My impression is that most of high rank users don't check frequently the altcoins sections nor local boards. Now for low ranks users, most of them are making their posts exclusively in these 2 sections...
Even if someone checked your topic, he has to check if the method that you cited is safe and working. Personally, i don't bother doing it nor giving any smerit to any post in altcoins sections (my point of view ofc). So it is up to sources to do most of the work.

What's wrong with bad english? Are admins reading national topics?
This is absolutely unfair and dumb system of merit. You are have to suck a dick of "merit sources" to get anything. Nobody knows what they want. Usual users don't know anything about this dumb system. Also they scared with red numbers of "trust rating" (another dumb, stupid and useless mechanism for oldfags of this forum),  "trust rating" abused by oldfags and useless for new users.

Determine whats bad english. If you talk in english and no one understand you then it is a bad english, and you think it is a good thing for a forum where people gather and share but you cant express what you want to and people dont understand you? It is still considered as good thing if people cant understand you, but what if people misunderstand your words? It may create a bad situation. That is what is wrong with bad english. Is this forum yours? This is admins' forum, they make the rules and all people here should obey it. I dont know why people think they are so big and great they can do what they want in someone's property.

Your brain process it as a dumb idea, i think only smart people know this is a good idea.

Well if you check the stats: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.31934877 local has 34% of the total merits sent. Obviously we don't which local language gives the most but it seems to me that you can gain plenty of merits in your local section.

I think these stats do not show the real picture. These stats also include cases where members have sent 50 merits points for single post (shit post as well) to their alt accounts or friends. Some member posted about this issue in a particular local section. However, if we have some stats collected after removing these merit abuse cases, we can get a better idea about merits awarded in local sections.

Well, obviously a lot of people have tried and abused the merit system but not only in the local section, in many other sections as well so even if you don't take that in count those statistics should still be valuable. In any case bitcointalk is a bitcoin forum originally in english, if someone cannot speak english it's not really our fault. Local sections are there for further discussion.

I still dont get it. What is merit used for? How can I get merit?

How about reading the first post, ya blithering idiot.  Roll Eyes

If you want to achieve merit then you have to contribute to some project. if good they will bring merit to you.
If you have sympathy with anyone, you also have to give them some merit.

thanks for your reply. I still have concern like how to contribute to the project? what section to find those? Is it like joining bounty?

Contribute for the betterment of the forum by helping answering other queries and by not spamming every thread out there. Just think that the merit is like a "like button" on social media sites and how do you get one like? Right, if people liked what you said/posted, same goes for the forum.

So helpful tip. Its make sense to me now. Thanks for your sharing

That's kinda true and not just here, everywhere in this world.

And for that English thing, I guess as long as one is able to get their point across that should be fine.

Oh. I thought you received everything at once after each (fixed) period of 30 days (just like how the activity periods work).

Thanks for the info.

For me (and other sources), it is. My merit page reads
"You are a merit source. The next XXX merit you spend will come from your source rather than your sMerit balance. Merit spent from your source will come back in 30 days. Unused source merit is wasted. It is not allowed for merit sources to sell their merit."
As sources are the only permanent holder of sMerit (they regain their limit every 30 days), this generally disallows the sale of Merit on a long term perspective.

How many sMerit points I have if I'll become a merit source? And how long time for sMerit points will be reloaded to my account?

Different for each merit source but typically it's a few hundred per month. Current average is ~200.

IIRC, once every 30 days.

I think it's daily.
