NO matter for how good reason a plan is implemented there is some people who always find a way to crack down a way which totally ruins the reason of the new system. And sadly there are already some people selling and buying merits what I have heard or there are people who are trading merits irrespective of post qualities.
The sad thing is almost people whom are selling Merits are high member rank Sr. Member and above cause the amount Merit they can give to other member is very large. It took a really long time to reach to Sr. Member, Hero Member or Legendary, these members have joined this forum for years but they just always wanna take advantage of this forum, they don't really care how to make this forum become better than before. Feel really bad about this. Beside I think it'll be really hard to stop buying and selling Merit cause I think they will use other way to contact instead of making any topic in this forum anymore.

I felt sad regarding this issue, the purpose of merit is to improved ourselves to give quality post. Selling merit is not helping' you just torelating them not to improved themselves, it is a part of the rule so we need to follow.
Just report those people who are selling their sMerits and they shouldn't be tolerated and when you found one you are contributing to the forum.Yes merit is not for sale. Selling of smerit is useful if you did not posted a quality post at that case you may demerit by admins.Not necessary to buy smerit it is a big challenge on us just to have a quality post even though we are on delayed ranking system but hopefully we reached the required amount smerit to rank.

Write posts that has sense and has quality. 
It's all beautiful and clear that selling "Merit" can not be, it's bad and not decent etc.
But I think that after the introduction of the initial points "Merit", it was not entirely justified. For example, they do not need for Legendar accounts (they have nowhere else to develop their rank) and I'm afraid they will distribute glasses to their friends and acquaintances (I'm not saying it's just my preference).

They should still get sMerit points but I think it would make more sense if lower status got more than a couple. I for instance got 4 yet my merit ranking was 100, I felt like I should have had anywhere from 10-25 would be more appropriate. Would have gotten the ball rolling so to speak, now I feel people are more stingy with their sMerits which is their right but doesn't help the community feel and vibe.

I don't know why people keep on whining or seems to be jealous among others post. Instead on minding others post better to mind your own on how you do accumulate merits.
It's obvious, people look to rank up by getting the required Merit count, where they see how others are being awarded Merits for their posts, even if the post is indeed written for the sole purpose of receiving Merits, and how they themselves aren't getting anything. It's simple, people want to rank up to make their account be eligible for signature campaigns, and when they see others are doing better in that regard, it stings them. And yes, they should be minding their own business -- if people opening threads spend as much effort into getting their posts quality up, they would probably have earned a few Merits already....

there is no good reason to give a merit to a close friend or work partner, it's the same as selling a merit in my opinion.
Rewarding merits to insubstantial posts or rewarding for the reason for friend or anything else must be a breach of forum rules and which may lead to get negged. We need to understand the true purpose of merit system and we must contribute up to the level we can for fighting against spamming.how to get merit?

If you see someone spamming you could just press the "report to moderator" to submit those posts that made you think it's spam and add a comment saying the post is a repeated/paraphrased answer so the mods could quickly understand. If OP lock the thread then other users including newbies won't see the thread anymore. I also dont like this merit system. There are disadvantages to it but as you have said, we need to abide by the rules and besides, there is not much we can do about it but obey. Anyway, maybe one day theymos will change his mind regarding this matter and i hope he will make some better changes on this. 
If the merits gave a negative impact on the forum maybe he would but for now it's unlikely that he'll make some changes to the merit system.
Yes, I think so, merit is not for sales I stopped Like this think as I know very difficult to get merit points but it's necessary to legality for Bitcoin Forum. this way is very important for all, merit system will probit good result for hard working and no way for the shortcut. I think it's very bad to think merit selling and buying maybe some people will choose it but it's not the right way. finally, I am happy with the merit system.

Yes we all know that selling merit is not prohibited by the administration. You can get merits by constructing a very useful post and meaningful. Merit is the points given to you by the other users if you helped them by your post.

Common mate anybody has different view of this new feature, and for you to know I am not promoting any of it here. I want to speak out loud to let people like us that we don't have to do buy and selling merits, even thou its easy or hard for any individuals.
