Pools in my system will be changed by me.
When it will be ready then all miners will mine on my pool which replace dwarfpool fee.
If my system will detect any change in OS then all features on dashbard wont work for you.

if  anyone needs help in changing the root password please send me a pm and i will gladly assist you in changing the root password
this will also allow for any other type of hardcoded changes within the operating system
like changing pools and mining decred instead of siacoin

ok so i will post here links for anyone to use for changing the root password.

From the official Ubuntu LostPassword documentation:

Reboot your computer.
Hold Shift during boot to start GRUB menu.
Highlight your image and press E to edit.
Find the line starting with "linux" and append rw init=/bin/bash at the end of that line.
Press Ctrl + X to boot.
Type in passwd username.
Set your password.

By default the first user's account is an administrative account, so if the UI is prompting you for a password it's probably that person's user password. If the user doesn't remember their password you need to reset it. To do this you need to boot into recovery mode.

Boot up the machine, and after the BIOS screen, hold down the left Shift key. You will then be prompted by a menu that looks something like this:

I've noticed on some systems that timing when to hit the left Shift key can be tricky, sometimes I miss it and need to try it again.

Hit the down arrow until you select the 2nd entry from the top (the one with the recovery mode in the description) and then hit Enter.

Now you should see this menu:

Using the arrow keys scroll down to root and then hit Enter.

You should now see a root prompt, something like this:

root@ubuntu:~#
At this stage you should have a read-only filesystem. You have to remount it with write permissions:

mount -rw -o remount /
Now we can set the user's password with the passwd command. (In this example I will use jorge as the example, you need to substitute whatever the user's username is):

root@ubuntu:~# passwd jorge
Enter new UNIX password:
Retype new UNIX password:
passwd: password updated successfully
root@ubuntu:~#
Type in what you want the new password to be at the prompt. After it's successful reboot the machine and the user will be able to log in with their new password.

There is concern about this being a security vulnerability. It is not. You need to have physical access to the machine to do this. If someone has physical access to your PC, they could do far worse than change a password. When it comes to physical access, the battle for security is lost. Be wary of who you let on your PC.

Even setting a root password will not be successful, as one can simply boot with init being /bin/sh and have full root access. Again, given physical access, anyone with computer knowledge can do ANYTHING to your computer.

Unfortunatley i cant give root password.
I dont allow any modifications in system.
Any that kind attemp could cause unstability with my update system or system itself.
You are not suppose to use linux interface system but only website dashboard.
Current terminals are just to see if new builded rig is starting correctly.
So i cant give root password.
If you wasnt retrive it then you can do it but if anything wont work then i wont help.

i am bumping this question as i would like to install a few other gadgets and instead of using htop i like other utilities ,
so once again...
what is the root password ?
knowing there are several ways to retrieve it and or change it without asking you this..... but waiting for your reply???

In linux its impossible (at least for now) to change voltage settings.
Only core/memory/powertuning works for 200/300 series.
If you want to change voltage then it will be best to flash bios with those settings and then use my OS.

I will be back in 5 days and i will have to do some usual stuff for my clients.
Then i will resume RX400 OS version. I started it but i had little problem and no time to solve it.
Anyway RX400 is my top proprity because i want to expand my farm using those + modded bios and build some for my clients.

In requirements there is line telling that it must be at least 7GB

About pools - i dont want to make option for that because i want to make my own pool. Meaby multipool.

About overclock, in future there will be posiibility to write overclocking in format like:
core: 1000,1060,1000
memory:  1500, 1600, 1500
So it will apply clocks like:
GPU0: 1000,1500
GPU1: 1060,1600
GPU2: 1000,1500

1. For not it has dwarfpool mining pool hardcoded.
In future most propobly there will be my own pool with 2-3% fee which will be all fee for using my OS + my POOL.
I will also try to make auto convert to BTC (but this is MAEBY and its more likely later than sooner

2. You can replicate anything you want. Cloning pendrive is no problem.
Each rig is unique based on mac addres + motherboard serial number, so you can clone as many penrives with the same image as you want and they will appear in central web panel as each individual rig.
Custom naming will be my priority because it is also problem for me (i am using this OS also for my 6 rigs) So naminig will be very soon.

3. Most propobly its hardware issue (wrong plugged something ... its best to unplug each card and see which one is causing problem.
I assume you are using 200/300 R9 series ? - because RX400 wont work on this version and could act the same.
It could also be wrong flashed drive, you could check on other drive but most propobly there is somehing wrong with plugged hardware (most propobly risers)

4. Hmmm, this might be an option i think but why you want to do this - its still few more % even with more watts

5. Yeah, claymore miner has own % and this is in every miner of his.
But i am not taking any fee now. Its hardcoded: if you didnt provide any mining addresses then it uses mine.
Then you need to go to website and enter your addresses.
Also you can do this before booting first rig. So first login and enter your minign addresses, and then strt minign rig. It will start mining only for you and nothing for me
No my fee is 0% and will be for more time ( i cant define when).
I am aware of two adn mine third fee thats why i would most propobly do my own mining pool and take 2-3% while dwarfpool wont take any more fee.
I will try to listen people and figure out what is best, but renember that you will be paying for all in one service.
So easy to burn and manage OS + pool.

6. I am miner myself and have many GPUs so when there will be better coin with better profit, i will support it because i also must mine best profit coin.
Righ now Monero was for few days most profitable and i didnt supported it just because you catch me in worst moment
I am on 8 days vacation in greece and i promised my girfriend that i wont work on vacation.
Anyway Monero profitability dropped and eth is still most profitable.
In future if there will be better deal i will support it.


7. On second workstation you should login (so enter your email + captcha), then receive ling into your inbox and click on it on the second workstation.
It should log in you in second workstation and log out on first.
If it doesnt work then it must be a bug. Tell me what you did exactly
About loggining in i will propobly do commonly used login + password.

When i can have choice of pool and have vcores and vram controll i consider this project to test, ETHOS do more than this, without fees our future fees only have to buy 1time, you have to give the client a choice, already saying that future is your pool with 2 or 3% fee when almost all pool only have 1% fee and i know you having work with the project but for most mining person will not go for this with soo many fees and no liberty of choice. I will keep this project on eye

Maybe in another update to have auto installed MSI burner into the  OS than having basic settings you have shown. Its ok for clocks to be adjusted but if want to adjust valt values and other things than best have something like msi after-burn reinstalled with it or something alike to do the job. Still not had time to play with this OS but am sure one day when has a lot more features added into it I will get around to installing and using.

Any update on when RX480 support will be added?

n.b overclock doesnt work if you have different card on your rig. Could be nice to decide on which gpu to apply overclock

edit: add some pool choice could be nice. I will like to have the choice between ETH or ETC  

Did try to use your os but cant make ti work.
The HDD Raw copy stop at 51%. Seems to be complete but when I try to boot with the usb key I get a error.

Edit: I think I find what could be my problem. The imgc file is around 2gb but the uncompressed is around 7 gb. I was using a 4gb usb stick.

Will try with a 8gb usb stick.

just to share some notes... you can reply after vacation, if you can't wait :-).... you may reply anytime :-)

some questions:

1. can I use ethpool and ethermine pools? Seems you hardcode to mine only dwarfpool.

2. if I replicate 10 thumbdrives with the same contents of your image (with setting my email) - I can basically get all 10 rigs mining and I can manage them over the central web... Naming convention of each rig is 1, 2, 3 etc. ??

3. after booting from thumdrive and it goes ubuntu... the next screen was black with blinking cursor on top left.... and stays there, eventually nothing happened and hung there. What could this mean?

4. I want to only mine ETH, and no 2nd coin. Do you have this option?

5. I see when first mining - the miner will mine for you the developer .... However, if you use Claymore, there is also a dev mining...... so miners will have to pay two times.... hmmmm, this is not a good deal to me

6. what are they other coins you are going to support?

7. I changed my workstation and tried to log in again, and it says please log in via email sent..... so I did that but now coudnt log in - error message expired login .... or something along those lines.

yeah, let me finish my vacation. i am hard worker but i also must rest.
i have rx470 and rx480 for tests and i will make more of them.
