how do I mod the bios for an ASUS Prime 270-A Huh What can you accomplish with BIOS modding that can't be done with software?

1. You shouldn't need to mod your mainboard for mining other than updating your BIOS with the newest version.

2. Modding your GPU BIOS allows you to change the settings without installing custom drivers and kernels. Many mining apps have clock and voltage settings but are locked out by the drivers. Changing the memory timings for increased performance is also only possible with BIOS mods.
Regarding 2. No it's not only bios limited Smiley

sapphire RX570 8gb nitro + memory hynix.

these cards suck

they are not good for mining,
I tried everything, all the timing, in all possible modes, the max to be stable 27.5 mhs

It might actually be your mainboard bottlenecking your gpu, one of my ud3 boards does this to me. That sapphire should go over 30 MH/s no problem.

I'll post a rom for you to try out in a bit, see if that helps.

update:

Sapphire Nitro+ RX570-8GB (Hynix) Mining BIOS

Where is the original dump? The first FiOS the way it was before you touched it. If we don't see that and we don't see the changes that you've made and it looks like you haven't actually done too much at all. Without that original dump there's no reason for us to even look at the second to be software because there's no comparison.

Paste the timings, I am too lazy to download the bios and extract them Tongue
Branko: Seen your 560 micron mod on anorak site, did you achieve 2300 with it or with another timing?

I used that bios, but modified card...put some arctic cooling thermal paste on memory instead crap that Gigabyte
put on it...now working on more aggressive timings to see if I can achieve same hash results
with lower speeds, as 2300MHz is a bit unsettling, plus requires higher core speed and voltages too
(so higher power consumption and temperatures)
I don't see anything changed besides you've used strapmod to null tFAW/t32AW and ACTRD at 16 cycles.
May be if you try loosening the timing you might actually go above 16 stable, mine are sapphire's with micron and do 15.3 on linux(15.7 windows) at 1124/2150, too bad sapphire uses cheap vrm and cannot undervolt it, I hope I get my hands on those gigabytes you have soon to undervolt the shit out of it Cheesy

main problem for micron seems to be that lowering trrd to 5 drastically lowers max frequency. Also, can't find info anywhere about misc_seq8,
do you have idea whats that used for?
That's dram timings, you don't have to touch it unless you are going below  dram clock latency or write recovery 18/20[decimal](I just picked up this out of my ass, can't actually recall at which threashold CLEHF/WREHF is set ). The other part is responsible for shits that you should not touch also(Temp sensor and stuff)

@notbatman -> there was an error(slight) in ElioVP's timing you are using, tRCDR/A should be equal, fix it with SRBPolaris it burns my eyes Cheesy

its modded bios/miner/ab-settings.....my memclock is @2050mhz(hynix)...2080 would be stable too...2100mhz becomes unstable
6card rig draws total 650w from the wall

ill try this gateless gate miner then tell you

edit: gatelessgate same speed like sgminer-gm

I've modded the ROM on my Gigabyte RX580-4GB with Elpida memory. GPU underclock, VRAM overclock, lowered Voltage offset and patched brand performance specific straps.

30 MH/s ETH
830 H/s XMR @ 90W (gpuz)

Gigabyte RX580-4GB (Elpida) Mining BIOS

If you've got any mod requests I think I can mod most RX cards.

UPDATE:

It seems not all Gigabyte RX580-4GB cards are made the same, I had one card start putting out hardware errors running the VRAM at 2000. So I made this new ROM that runs the memory slower, much slower. Good news I saved 10W on power, bad news it hashes at only 700 H/s.

Gigabyte RX580-4GB (Elpida) Mining BIOS -- LOW GRADE CARDS

830h/s is pretty slow for a rx580 :p

Is that with just modded BIOS or did you tweek with miner setting and/or afterburner? Also what speed do you get with "Gateless Gate v0.1.3-pre3"?

If you've got Hynix running at 2250 that could explain why you got 60 H/s more, my cards all run at 2000 max with Samsung and Elpida.

Here's a mining BIOS for the Sapphire RX580-4GB with hybrid Hynix/Elpida VRAM as per request.

Sapphire RX580-4GB (hybrid Hynix/Elpida) Mining BIOS

1. This is an untested BIOS.
2. I can make a faster BIOS for Hynix cards (just ask).

I Just made a new mining BIOS for the Powercolor RX560-4GB mining card OEM with hybrid Samsung/Hynix VRAM.

350 H/s @ 30W XMR

Powercolor RX560-4GB (hybrid Samsung/Hynix) Mining BIOS

No way its 30W, unless you mean what GPU-Z says

In that case, I have 470H/s on Gigabyte Micron RX560 Smiley
Good for you Smiley

It would be if I'd be mining monero, but I'm mining expanse instead
