This is just how gambling is; it is full of unpredictable surprises in terms of winning and losing a bet. I believe this woman was totally not expecting this massive surprise win from her bet. Long time ago in my country, there was also a woman that made this kind of huge win. I am not a live witness, but according to stories, on the previous week before she had that winning, she also lost a very huge amount of money and was really frustrated, so she just gambled on the current weeks with just thought to try luck on a game she was not expecting to even win huge. So, by the time she saw her wining, out of joy, she lost consciousness and was rushing for medical attention before she regained herself. 

I just hope that one day I will wake up to see such a winning reward in my casino wallet. Congratulations to the woman, though I can feel her joy. 

It's not really a big deal if you read the article and sum it up. Basically this is the 36th prize win, so there were many similar winners.

She won fair and square, but failed to count the words correctly and thought she only made it to 9, not 10, so the whole article is based on her simple mistake and tries to portray it like it's some big surprise, but everything about this situation is mediocre at best. 50k is not a ton of money, she'd get it anyway because sooner or later somebody would notice that she found 10 words but was only paid for 9.

Any gambler wants to win such money, but to everyone's regret it is not possible for everyone. There was a time when I bought weekly lottery tickets, but in the end I gave up this idea because I never managed to win even $5000. That's great as she has won a good sum of money that can change her whole life and she should use this amount by using good mindset. 50,000$ is a huge money and she will be happy for such amount but I think luck shine once not all the time.

We should create our own thoughts instead of copying others because there are so many people who follow their relatives and friends after they win a jackpot but they don't remember that getting success in lottery is totally dependent on luck and is not a matter of knowledge so there is no guarantee that your luck will also be good like that of your friend.

Lucky her, I hope she doesn't go back and I waste the win thinking the way of winning is linear but I think for someone that won $50k will know and understood better.
They say different stroke for different strokes, some people has the luck embedded in them, the star is always around them even if they are not that good but somehow, the know how to win.

I will be waiting for the day I might win the same thing, even if it's not up to these, half of that amount is going to go a long way but cut1, cut2 don't allow someone to achieve such dream. Sport bettors can relate very well with what I'm saying. The day you don't flex your bets are the days you have the cut1 which is very annoying and flexing of games which is limited in some betting platforms reduce the amount you win when you flex, like reduce your earning power by one-third. I remember a few months ago here in our country when people were winning the lottery.
Why did I remember it? On a normal day, there is only 1 winner every 6 months to a year in the lottery here in our country. It's just at that time, I think around 3 or even more bettors won. IIRC, 1 or more of them got at least a million dollars.

I've seen people winning the lottery, but I always ask myself. "How much money did they spend just to win the lottery?" I mean there might be some lotto bettors who are betting all their lives, but ended up miserably. Only those who are lucky enough are the ones that will win. As for me, I will never try to bet on the lottery because I don't want to get addicted to it. Although I can control myself already when it comes to gambling, there is still fear at the back of my head "What if I get addicted for some reason?".

Simply put. The lady went with the flow, not making it a do or die affair and she sure did play with funds she could afford to loose.
 In same vain, anyone can be a winner irrespective of gender biase or financial abilities, if they keep an open mind, learn the basics and develop good playing and spending strategy when the intention to play comes.

good for her. she is even luckier to have a son who didn't actually take advantage of what she initially thought was her win from the scratch-off ticket. If he was a bad son, he would just let her believe its just $5k.

What a big win for the woman, and I would like to congratulate her for the big surprise of her life that will change her life because she must have been extremely lucky when she won the lottery and thought that the actual winning amount was almost 10x of what she thought was won in initial.

Winning something big from gambling or winning lottery is always require a great luck. so if you don’t have luck then you will not able to win lottery. the woman in your story has enough luck that she was able to win the lottery the way she did. so now she shouldn’t use that winning money for gambling again. she should save her money and invest on some strong asset for farther profit. because if she use that money on gambling again the she will loss all money again. because gambling will not guarantee winning or profit for someone

I know the chances of winning the lottery are small but if you enjoy it then go for it. One or two lines a week won't hurt and who knows, maybe you could get lucky like the lady in question.

Honestly, this is the kind of story on the internet which makes me feel like buying lottery tickets as well, for myself, though it is very unlikely I would go out of my way to get some tickets.
Also, I would like to point out that this winning quantity of 50000$ it may appear to be much money for many of us, who live in developing countries around the world, however since we are talking about a woman living in the United States, she would not even be able to purchase a home with that money, at best, she would be able to buy a very good car and that's it.
Though keeping in mind we are talking about a woman who seems to be already married and with at least one child, then I assume she already is a home owner and car owner. Hopefully she will be able to use that money to do things she wants and enjoys.

In the meantime we will continue to try our luck with lotteries and casinos to see if we we'll see some good luck strike in our lives.

You probably mistaken what’s the context of this topic. The mistakenly thought that he won 5000$ maybe due to poor eyesight but later on reveal by his son that he won 50,000$ instead. Probably the mom already contended on the 5,000$ that’s why he immediately assumed and celebrated the reward.

There’s no info about the amount he use to win in the scratch cards but definitely not 5000$ because this will be equivalent to a tons of scratch card which is very hard to scratch on a single game.
