I know right. Bitcoin is still highly underrated. We are gradually getting more and more media attention and thus mainstream adoption is happening quicker, but not quick enough it seems. In order to actually use Bitcoins effectively - I mean for everyday purchases - these vendors have to accept! The best way to increase Bitcoin adoption is for governments to actually endorse the use of Bitcoin and more advertising. Facebook, twitter, youtube ... and the like. All these organisations need to promote Bitcoin. If this happens, I am fairly certain that merchants will see the benefits of Bitcoin and begin accepting them as payment. Then we will see another price jump.

I called around some stores to see if they accept BTC, no one has even heard of it except like 0.1% of people.  Wait till people actually find out this exists...

Well that's what we're trying to accomplish right now. Though its still not as widely accepted as we would have wanted, btc use is now more common than a year or two ago. We may not be there yet but we're well on our way for more businesses to know bitcoin

I am among those 1% knows about bitcoin, just few people knew about it but in the nearest time that few will become many as bitcoin is going to be a part of some transactions online.

This happens because it really very difficult to decide to buy a bitcoin for $ 4200. If the person is only going to get acquainted with bitcoin. Bitcointalk is the only forum which allows you to earn bitcoins for review. The more such opportunities the greater will be members of the bitcoin community.
Indeed, until now majority of the people don't know what bitcoin really all about. It's not easy for them to understand it so easily, it really need time and effort to find out the deepest usages and benefits that it give to anyone who will get interest to learn and study the bitcoin.

i think they don't following new technology especially with the economy aspect and i see they don't care with something that might help them to earn money from their additional job. but i am sure, if one day they know about bitcoin with the price, they will attract to bitcoin, they buy bitcoin, they will use bitcoin in their daily life and this will make bitcoin price is increase so high.
Yep, it is good for those who are currently investing into bitcoins because they are not having any tough competition. Lesser investors mean that you can easily grab your desired coins without any hard struggle. The day when bitcoins made legal, the war will start about grabbing bitcoins.

I have asked around myself trying to do a poll in a big city. My conclusions are:

1 out of 100 boomers may have heard about it but have no idea about it
10 out of 100 millennial may have heard about it but have no idea about it

People that really know about it or own some are people that are mostly geeks and are interested in cryptography computers, then the other group is investors and speculators.

Bitcoin is still TINY. And the fact that big blockers want to rush the blocksize increase agenda is ridiculous when clearly we don't need that.

That may be true from your anecdotal experience. But we also need to consider that most of the supply is mined out already. Does your poll take into account institutional investors and hedge funds? I've heard for years now that they are entering the space fairly quickly, and this makes sense given the speed at which Bitcoin supply is running out.

If it were only the regular plebs like myself we were competing with, I wouldn't be too worried. It's the Goldman Sachs and other investment banks that I'm worried about. I think these companies are very much aware of Bitcoin and are moving in.

I think it is really good that most of the people don't know what is bitcoin. This means that we are among the 1% (not sure about the percentage) of people that have known bitcoin sooner. That time when all of people know what is bitcoin and need that for their life, the price will be much higher than today. So we will be rich.

Agreed. I see this as an advantage to us. Think of it as being ahead from the others, is like being one of those who are leading in the line. Sooner or later when bitcoin would grow, be known and be globally used would bring convenience and advantage to those who have adopted now.

Bingo. I get annoyed hearing it so much among bitcoiners so often, but it's very true: we are still early adopters. IMO, scoop up all the coins you still can, and be mindful of opportunities in altcoins to accumulate more bitcoins. Cryptocurrencies aren't going anywhere, and I'm very confident that Bitcoin will remain the king that rules them all.

We are always on this kind of waiting game on which we would really love to see that those merchants on our places would already recognize bitcoin and thats really an advantage for us bitcoin users since we can directly spend our bitcoin without the need on exchanging it to fiat first but for now it isnt really recognized yet which means we would really need to wait up a little bit more and we are sure time will surely come.

Yes,most of the people around the world are not aware of this wonderful technology.Even when some come to hear the name bitcoin, they just think it as another commodity and just don't show interest in it.I have seen most people who had already heard about bitcoin many years ago and now they regret for not having invested in bitcoin.Yet,there are more people around the world who don't have access to internet and don't know about digital transactions as well as bitcoin. One of main reason for this is there is no central authority to advertise about bitcoin since it is a decentralized currency and no one is ready to advertise about bitcoin.

In general bitcoin has not been widely accepted as a legitimate payment tool in most countries, therefore many stores are not familiar with bitcoin and they do not yet know how to use it. It is what makes bitcoin has not been able to serve as a legal means of payment so that not many know about payment technology using digital money.

Currently bitcoin is not so well known to some, only some know it and use it for transactions and investments or in trade, so far the development of bitcoin is very fast and good, and maybe it will attract a number of new users who will go into Bitcoin and possibly a lot of bitcoin use for both online and offline transactions, and currently bitcoin topped the altcoin, bitcoin can be used as a benchmark for altcoin prices,

Yeah, totally agree! Maybe 1% of the people ever heard about bitcoin or used it. But what will happen if 30% of the people know about it and use it?

Sure, the price will rise to the moon, but what will governments do? Will they accept to give up their out of the nothing money printing system or will they try to strangle it? This is doubtless the key question here.

30% is almost 3 billion people, when so many people get involved in bitcoin price can really go to 100.000$ for one btc, maybe we can give more optimistic predictions, if 3 billion people wish to have some bitcoins then price can really go to the moon. What can governments do? Some of them are legalising bitcoin and bitcoin is becoming unstoppable, governments can just regret cause they didn't buy earlier, like all other people.
Bitcoin will become known to everyone, but not all the people will have that luxury to have 1 btc, and how time is passing chances for that are smaller. Buy it until all others didn't hear about it.

From my experience it's quite the opposite, I actually noticed that a surprising amount of people already at least heard of Bitcoin. Also press coverage seems to have heavily increased.

It's true, Bitcoin is getting a lot of exposure recently. People at my work are talking about it because it's been all over CNBC. Friends I grew up with are talking about it on Facebook. And the people that I told about bitcoin have mostly all come back recently to ask for my opinions or advice. I hate giving investment advice! I just tell them that I've been dollar cost averaging for years, bit by bit, and trying to earn whatever BTC I can.

Most people I cam forward, heard about it but doesn't know exactly what is it. One of them doesn't believes the price movement, and think it is done by the creator. But my gamer friends are capable of understanding it as they are able to use it to buy stuffs and games.

Recently the GoT Hack case made many to search about Bitcoins.

Absolutely. If Bitcoin is to be widely accepted as a currency, we haven't even begun yet. But i'm not so sure Bitcoin's destiny is as a currency. I think it's going to be an asset class, an investment only. What's the incentive to spend bitcoin today when we know it will likely be worth more tomorrow?

Equal to your point though is that most people don't own any bitcoin...but how many people own stock or bonds or a mutual fund? A lot. That's the community of adopters that I believe are on the horizon.
Bitcoin - maybe true. I got really surprised when I heard that soon a chain of cafe's in my country will soon accept crypto as a payment! But guess what? It's not btc. It is not  even litecoin. It is DASH! Why support dash and how they even now it exists? Still, it's better than if no currencies like that were supported. And btc is really not suit for such thing as payments in the cafes, transactions are not fast enough.
