Everyone has seen the MotoGP Qualifier at the Mandalika circuit today and a lot of interesting things happened today at the Mandalika Circuit which led me to make a special prediction about Quartararo who will win tomorrow's race if he doesn't crash.
What about everyone's predictions here ? is there a different prediction with me ?

^  Yeah good fun bet on Sainz.  I have 'Mr. Saturday' George Russell meself.  Lol.  I kinda regret betting on it now...  I had him at 10, he was around 17 after FP2.  But he looks promising after FP3.  Still Verstappen tho...  And Leclerc it looks like.

What's interesting at FP3 is Mick Schumacher was the fastest in the middle sector.  Some some potential there from a betting perspective with the Haas.  And Stroll at top 10.  I wonder what Vettel would've done if he didn't get sick of the rona.

Anyway...  FP3 results!

I am going to bet on Ferrari to win this first race as it looks like they in overall performance, meaning during a lot of laps have shown the most consistency in speed. The track of Bahrain is wide enough to give the possibility for many overtakes in different parts of the track.I see also Redbull maybe is trying to hide their true power but we will have all our doubts clear tomorrow during the qualification session, there the cars will show their true faces.Mercedes right now looks out from the fight to win any race in the first part of the Championship unless they are lying really big which I doubt.

The rumor regarding Ferrari is that they were with a huge saving on the last test, tomorrow will be the answer but I think it will be a thing between Ferrari and RBR at least for the 1st half of the season?

Expecting 3 GP with only these 2 teams.

I did go ahead and bet on Sainz to both be on Pole today and the winner of the race tomorrow.Maybe Redbull were also making some saving but I doubt they were saving as much as Ferrari.I don't think that today will be our answer because today is based on a single lap and any driver can make errors by trying to make the fastest lap so the true answer I think we will get tomorrow during the race in which we will see the pace of the cars for many laps but I believe a glimpse of tomorrow we can already see it today.

After a wild day of qualifying the stage is set 🙌 With a late penalty for Franco Morbidelli, this is how the riders will line up tomorrow for the first #IndonesianGP 🇮🇩 in 25 years 🔥 #MotoGP

I was very surprised when I saw the Mandalika MotoGP qualifying today where a lot of riders fell, including Marquez himself, fell twice today and once yesterday.
And congrats to Fabio Quartararo who has earned the Pole Position this season after struggling in Qualification and FP, because during the race in Qatar a few weeks ago he also suffered a lot with the performance of the bike.

Two days ago Aleix Espargaro challenged Indonesian MotoGP fans by uploading a photo on his official Instagram account and saying that he would throw the helmet he was wearing into the stands at the end of the race if his Instagram account followers could reach 1 million before Sunday and now followers Aleix Espargaro's Instagram has already reached 1 million so he had to keep his promise to throw his helmet into the stands.
We'll see later if he will keep his promise, because for a helmet racer it is a very important thing to maintain and usually what they use is the world's number 1 original product, so it would be amazing if he could keep his promise and us. see who will get it later after the mandalika race is over.

Everything will come up, but unlike Yamaha, Suzuki has made a step forward with the engine. This was best seen at the last Grand Prix, where Suzuki was able to overtake a Honda from the slipstream on the straight, which would have been almost impossible last year, and almost impossible for Yamaha this year. Suzuki has improved the power of its engines and found something in contrast to Yamaha.
I hope you also see the results of the Mandalika MotoGP qualifying today where the Yamaha Factory occupies the first position as the Pole Position for tomorrow through Quartararo and also in FP2 the Yamaha factory also dominated the 1st and 2nd place yesterday. This means that the Mandalika circuit is very suitable for the character of Yamaha and Suzuki motorcycles.

Are both (Suzuki and Yamaha) still using the same machine, Inline-4?. when I look at a year ago, Suzuki looks aggressive than Yamaha with the same machine, but for sure it depends on who the racer in. Mir said Yamaha is more than smoother, maybe because Yamaha especially Quartararo choose right tires so that when being around in bend, Yamaha looks smooth with no slip.
Still, Suzuki and Yamaha are still using the engine with the Inline-4 concept where Suzuki is using the Flatplane crankshaft and Yamaha is using the Crossplane crankshaft with the Inline-4 concept, so overall it's not that different even though the Suzuki engine has a bit more power than the Yamaha this season.

Vettel did not travel to Bahrain at all - he still tested positive in Switzerland - and Hülkenberg will drive for Aston Martin in Bahrain instead.

I think Corona will be around for a while this season and Hülkenberg could be in a Formula 1 cockpit more often this year.

https://sport.sky.de/formel1/artikel/formel-1-news-sebastian-vettel-positiv-auf-das-coronavirus-getestet/12568268/34130
I expected to see Hulkenber guest appearance during the season, but definitely not in the first race of season. Getting covid is bad news for Vettel, but I'm always happy to see Hulk racing.
It is such a weird feeling that both Magnussen and Hulkenberg will be racing at the same time. Add in nico rosberg there somewhere and it would have been so much funnier. In any case those two will not be facing too much trouble since they would probably not race for anything meaningful anyway.

This race will be once again about Mercedes vs red bull and then maybe with some hopes that Ferrari could be as good as people claim they are. If they are really that good then we have 3 teams fighting for a title and that would be awesome. Mclaren got a great sponsorship run this year, I am guessing they will put that to next year from what they learn from this year and that could really turn the tides around a lot, and I mean like really a lot.

The practice sessions today were really impressive. Ferrari didn't surprise me and really had a solid performance. Leclerc and Sainz both were great in both sessions. But Verstappen was really fast. He seems to be very promising for the pole position already but let's see. Russell also was impressive to me but Hamilton is still having serious problems. The "porpoise" problem gives him a headache still. I wonder whether Mercedes will solve this problem fully or mostly at least till the great race. Otherwise, there is not a good race waiting for Hamilton in Bahrain.

Yes a really big improvement for HAAS, but they said the year before all the 2021 they are working in the 2022 car and drop the 2021 season to the trash.

Mercedes can not be the number 1 in this earlies races, but they know how to improve race by race.

In other things im extremely happy because FRANCO COLAPINTO made the POLE in his First Race at F3.
We (the argentinians) deserve a pilot in F1 again after 21 years. We cant put a lot of pilot because you need a ton of money to have a chance, but this boy maybe can be.

Martin Brundle or was it the other guy who thinks that there's no sand bagging here during practice and that the pace is real.  If so then it could be Red Bull vs Ferrari for the championships.  I'm all for it.  Sick of seeing Merc at the front row every race.

Anyway the two teams that I thougnt were gonna improve are at the bottom of the time sheet.  Lol.  Williams and Aston Martin.  And while Haas is expected to improve since they spent their resources last year for this year, I didn't expect them to improve by this much.  But it's just free practice of the first event of the season...  Remains to be seen.

a few car parts flying all over the place.  Lol.  So maaaybe we'll see a safety car during the race?  Wink  I'm learning Cnut.  Grin

I'd also suspect (but I haven't looked at any data on this) that we might get more safety cars than normal just because these are totally new cars that haven't been fully battle-tested yet. I'm expecting some reliability issues, and maybe cars stopping on track or in awkward places.

And be aware that everybody was using the softs except for Ferrari and RBR who were using the mediums.

Yep. This is important. Ferrari and Red Bull still look strongest. Hamilton is way down the order, but may not be representative of the Merc, as Russell was a bit quicker.

Yup and Ferrari was way faster but they both "aborted" their 1st lap for traffic, meanwhile Ferrari is dominating in the second hour of test but RBR is not in track yet

in the pre-season test at the Mandalika circuit some time ago Yamaha gave the 2nd best time and it proved that this circuit is suitable for Yamaha motorcycles, in the Race which will start this weekend I think Yamaha will be able to rise and compete in the front row especially for their rider Fabio Quartararo who was very down in the first Qatar Race 2 weeks ago.
If you look at the results of the pre-season test at the Mandalika circuit, I predict that at the Race weekend Yamaha will compete closely with Honda in the front row, I leave Ducati because in the pre-season test Ducati did not give a good time at this circuit.
And what is seen now is also very clear that the Honda manufacturer has shown an outstanding performance in the FP1 MotoGP at the Mandalika circuit.
But something very surprising also happened to the two factory Yamahas in FP2 MotoGP at the Mandalika circuit today by occupying 1st and 2nd positions.
So it's very clear that Yamaha's motorbike is also very suitable for the character of the Mandalika circuit and I'm sure Yamaha will not have any difficulties there unless there are other factors such as weather.

Two Yamaha riders dominated FP2 MotoGp Mandalika today although Quartararo was thrown outside the top 10 during the FP1 session where he used the wrong tire at that time, but as soon as FP2 progressed, he tried to use Medium - Soft tires and his Lap time was very good compared to the Hard - Medium tires in the FP1 session where he was the only one who used such a combination of tires during the FP1 session.

The flowing layout of the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit has received special attention from MotoGP racers and Brembo, as the brake supplier, provides vital data ahead of the Indonesian Grand Prix, this weekend.

Based on the information provided by Brembo, the Mandalika Circuit, which will be the venue for the Indonesian GP, the second round of the 2022 MotoGP, only has a few braking points, between Turns 3 and 9.

Based on Brembo information, as reported by Speedweek, MotoGP racers use the brakes for 28 seconds in one lap at the Mandalika Circuit, which has a track length of 4,301 kilometers (km).

In percentage terms, according to Brembo's projections, the brakes are used by riders at 31 percent of the race distance, both in WSBK and the MotoGP World Championship.

What is very striking from the Brembo data is that, from Turn 3 to 9 of the Mandalika Circuit, there is only one braking point at Turn 7, in which it is only used for 1.8 seconds.

With a flowing track layout and minimal braking points, the Indonesian GP race at Mandalika will be interesting, because there is more potential for overtaking at corners.
