About the looks of the F1 cars, keep in mind looks can be deceiving. For example last year the Alpine had that bulging thing behind the driver, it looked strange and for sure the car would be horrible, but it performed quite well.

Sometimes cars look great, slick aerodynamics, and are slow.

Unfortunately beauty counts for nothing this season, Ferrari has tried a lot of new things with the rule changes and has done a lot of things differently than the other manufacturers (like Ducati in MotoGP, they are always one step ahead in development) but the results count and whether all the innovations and design changes will be successful, we will see at the beginning of the season in about a month, the changes bring nothing (like Ducati) at the end of the season without championship.
The scary part is that, there are 2 teams in the league that is KNOWN for sure that they spent almost all of their money for this years car. I mean other teams worked on the car as well of course, but we are talking about literally putting the money of last seasons into this season as well and that should have a big difference.

One of them is Haas and we all know how they were, they were dead last every single year but they promised their drivers and fans a great season for this year because for like 3 seasons or so they have put all of their money into this years car, they were so poor that even an extra crash would be a big problem for them. Hence, why we are talking about Haas potentially being a great team this year.

The other one was Ferrari, they didn't do it like Haas and spent a bit on their cars but still put some aside for this years car as well and everyone is expecting something exceptional from them since they were third without spending the extra, now they will spend the whole seasons money and all the extra they got from previous seasons as well, plus the only "Ferrari rule" extra income for them as well.

I don't think any other Team habe this concept by your car, innovation or the wrong turn?

We know small or nothing about RBR but yes Ferrari SHOULD be the only one using this type of concept.
But from the small leaks, we got even RBR has something unique in their car with their front sospensions.

Sadly we can't see this week's test.

What do you guys think about the design of the F1-75 of Ferrari? Most have mentioned that it is the most beautiful Ferrari F1 that they have created, but I do agree that the car looks definitely stunning especially with the gills on the body.

I am just really excited to see these cars in action. What do you guys think? With all the changes made with specific and strict regulations, do you think that F1 cars would be much faster/slower compared to last year's cars?

I think the changes that Ferrari made at least will net them a win during this upcoming F1 season. They truly deserve it as they have started working on the F1 2022 car in the mid of the year 2020 where they saw they did not have any chance to win anything at that year and even in 2021 they just did an upgrade to that old 2020 car while for 2022 they truly have done a lot of things and I don't think they will fail at everything new that they have implemented,I predict them to be race win contenders during this season.

I also hope that Ferrari will be competitive with the changes and especially with the new engine, there would be nothing better than Ferrari, Mercedes and RedBull fighting for the world championship. The driver pairings of the 3 teams are also similarly strong and there is not only a good number one (except Ferrari) but all teams have a strong second driver.

I believe this year Ferrari will rise and dominate, because as you’ll have rightly said they gave up 2020, and 2021 in anticipation of 2022 season hence there’s no excuse now for them. Furthermore I can’t wait to see them take on Hamilton and Max and hopefully this season we’ll have a three way battle for the championship.

Confirmed: Pecco Bagnaia will race for Ducati in 2023 and 2024. What are your thoughts on this signing ? 👇

Personally, I agree more with this because I remember that Pecco Bagnaia is already very compatible with the Ducati motorbike, especially the Desmosedici, although every year it always gets better updates as has been said by Johan Zarco where the Desmosedici Gp22 is easier to maneuver.

A Ferrari fan site goes into more detail about the significant changes to the Ferrari and if I have not misunderstood the changes should benefit the engine performance in terms of cooling, I think it is a bit exaggerated but the site talks about 1000 hp.

At the webside also a picture from behind the new Ferrari, here you can see the ventilation slots even more striking.

If I read the news, it's because the contractor uses local stones to paving. Even Dorna's side suggested that they use stones that are in accordance with the advice. I don't think that's a problem, because Madalika is certainly a new track that is still being perfected by contractors. There's still plenty of time to get to the race tomorrow March 20th.
The time for completing the circuit is one month away and before that time it is hoped that the Mandalika circuit must be perfect because before the race starts there is always a Free Practice session that is held for two days including qualification, so Dorna's recommendation is always to be better when the circuit is used in competitions and I personally also don't blame all parties because basically I am also proud when a world racing event is held in Indonesia.

A photo of a direct comparison between Mercedes and Ferrari, the differences in the sidepods and the air intakes are particularly striking. The curved side box of Ferrari is also a striking difference to Mercedes. I'm looking forward to the new season, so we won't be able to say anything more until the first race, and the teams will still be holding back and poking at the tests because the differences between the vehicles and the various development approaches are different.
I would guess that the angle changes some things as well. I mean the front wings are the most important difference that is probably not like that when you change the angle, it is not the same angle for both of them, I mean Mercedes and Ferrari probably won't have THAT much difference in height of the front wing, sure maybe some but not THAT much.

The difference on the rear wings is clear as well and I believe that it wouldn't be that much. Aside from that I do not think that there is something that is that bigger, it will probably be close to each other and the difference in the engine is probably still a lot and as long as the engine is different then I doubt that Ferrari could reach Mercedes.

They also did a comparison in F1 Instagram page of Mercedes and Aston Martin cars and they had differences. Now we are again in a situation where if some car did hit that perfect sweet spot it would be very difficult for the other teams to keep up with them, hopefully this will not be the case as almost all teams had enough time to prepare for this 2022 season.

Let's not forget that Aston Martin was a complete clone of the Mercedes W12 as a car design during last year so hopefully now that they have moved away from cloning we can see better results.

The gravel also needs to be repaired because Jorge Martin once complained about the sharp stone like a knife, so that also needs to be looked at and replaced with a better one because if everything improves, then Mandalika will be in the list of the best circuits in the world.

Life, Love and Laughter...
That's actually a great change in my opinion too. In this way we will have more diversity in strategies for qualies and also small teams can fight for top 10 but this is just on paper as we still have to see the first quali of the year in order to understand how this new cars will perform from Q1 to Q3 and then we can see how Q2 will affect the Q3 and probably start of the race as well.

Not sure if I like the change.  I guess it’s good for the teams cos it makes tire strategies simpler and more straight forward at quali...  They just slap on the fastest tires on then go.  But then again I liked the way it was when a team couldn’t just slap on any tire cos they’d have to think of which tire to start the race.  The tire rule gave quali some depth.

Does anybody want to fork this thread and start another one?  If yes, I vote coinlocket$ as thread starter.

The huge difference is the downside of the car.

The fastest car this year will be the one that can get the better air in the bottom.
Ferrari uses a downward pressure in the sides too to get this air in the bottom, while Mercedes will use huge holes in the front of the car.

Who will be the better? 1 week and we will know

Exactly 2 completely different concepts from Mercedes and Ferrari, but I don't think that a top team already puts its cards on the table and shows how fast the car really is, we will only see at the first race how good which manufacturer really is.

For the start, we will see a lot of new things but later everyone will probably follow the leading car.

Yeah, this is true. I wonder how much that will be affected by the spending limits though, and in-season development is always a bit restricted anyway. If there are huge and fundamental differences between teams, it may not be until next season when we see the cars becoming more similar.

The fact that they are so different might restrict copying in the short term, because these items are all part of a whole. What I mean is that if say Ferrari has done something with the nose that gives them an advantage, then other teams might not be able to copy because this advantage only works when you also have a Ferrari-shaped air intake.

I am really surprised that those two cars look so different if you directly compare them. If you only see each car on its own, they look almost completely identical, but here it becomes pretty obvious that there are huge differences between Ferrari and Mercedes. The very slim and pointy nose of the Ferrari is really something special and pretty unique so far amongst the revealed cars. I also really like that Mercedes went back and used the silver livery again, in the end the silver arrows are a huge part of the success story and the image of Mercedes as a great car manufacturer. I hope it will be an interesting F1 season again this year.

More than analyzing the difference between the cars, it's knowing whether these proposed changes will in fact eliminate or at least reduce the problem of 'dirty air' that has long made overtaking difficult for drivers, as they are unable to follow their rivals closely. , as well as reducing overall performance gaps between teams.
Drivers are still too skeptical to say, but it seems to me that the aerodynamic concept of the cars is fundamentally different from what it was until last year, but we'll wait for the pre-season to be able to say if that really helped or not.
