Hamilton much faster than all other drivers

Not too surprised, I think the odds for a win were worth it.  The nature of the circuit doesn't make the rain too much a danger this time perhaps that one really tight hairpin is the most likely problem for control in the rain and Hamilton is 5th right now.   He might even come through despite the penalty depending if he can stay consistent  and shave off the seconds per lap

Hamilton and Sainz started great, Sainz went up to 9th place and Hamilton is in 5th place now. If Hamilton pass Verstappen probably we see Bottas in second and Hamilton in first position in the end. Other than that Bottas should go for first, it would be his first win since Sochi 2020.
Leclerc got the fastest lap now just under 1:33 for the first time today.
It's too bad for Alonso, he's the only victim in first lap, he had a good position in start. Ricciardo did the only stop, it's a one pit stop strategy after this.

The race started with great excitement. We saw a few cars spin up just at the beginning of the race. Alonso was very angry at this, he fell so far behind in the ranking because of Gasly. 5 second penalty came as a result of the investigation.
Hamilton didn't get far enough in the beginning. A race where we can see surprising results with wet ground awaits us.

If the rain had not started again, it would have been a wonderful show in the sky. The aerobatic demonstration team of the Turkish Air Force and the national aerobatics team of Turkey "Turkish Stars" were going to perform a show Smiley

Hamilton starting 11th is a big decision, if he ends up with second or even at worst third then it will be decent and then this all would be worth it. However, if he doesn't end up in top 3 then they could have gone with the whole engine change and they would be doing a lot better in that situation. They would both have a whole new engine AND they would be in top 10 guaranteed anyway, probably 6th or 7th at worst.

So, this decision to only change ICE and get 10 position penalty will be a smart decision only if Hamilton ends in top 3, otherwise it would look like a bad decision.

When Verstappen had a penalty to start from the back of the grid, it was a tough decision also. Red Bull changed the whole engine of Verstappen's car and took a gamble with his race. But Verstappen had a huge race and ended as the 2nd right behind Hamilton in the Russian GP.

I think that Hamilton will be able to do a similar thing also. He is even starting at the 11th place which is making things easier for him compared to Verstappen. But this track is really challenging for all of the drivers. So let's wait and see what happens.  Smiley

I was able to watch the FP2 and it was enough to give me some ideas about the track conditions and who can be really successful at the end of this race weekend. I loved the Istanbul Park track this time as they cared about the grip a lot and did something to keep the grip at a high level on the track. But Verstappen seemed like he was struggling a lot. Hamilton just destroyed both FPs by breaking a track record and ending at the top. But he has already a 10-place grid penalty because of a change in his car. I think that he will most probably take the pole position but will have to start at the 11th place. Sainz also is going to start from the back after Leclerc did a similar thing in the Russian GP.

Let's wait and see what's going to happen in the qualifying session tomorrow!
They believe in Hamilton becoming first so much that they actually just changed ICE in his engine and not the whole engine. What this means is that he will not start at the bottom, he will start at best 11th, however the difference between 11th and 20th is that if you start at 20th and become 11th by 5-6th lap, then you are going to be behind the top drivers 5+ seconds easily, and then will have to close that up, Max could be gone by that time.

This way they are making him 11th so that by the 5-6th lap he would be in top 5, he could even gain many positions during start as well so this brings him more chance to actually fight for something. Let's see what happens but I see this as absolute Max dominance this time around.

At the end of the qualifying session, Lewis Hamilton still managed to take the first place by a huge performance. He broke another track record. But he will start at the 11th place of course. Still he got what he wanted and he will be focusing on climbing positions one by one. Bottas was faster than Verstappen by 0.2 seconds and he took the pole position. But I believe that Verstappen will get past him easily maybe even at the beginning. I expect him to win the race too but the most thing I wonder is whether Hamilton will be able to climb till reaching the 2nd place. I'm looking forward to watching the race.

this could change after Indonesia sanctioned by WADA, I hope they don't cancel the Moto Gp tournament at the Mandalika circuit.
I don't think so, that for a personal person or Athlete. Mandalika circuit is almost 100% ready for this year (2021), that we can see FIM Superbike on November 14, 2021, on schedule. certainty, Dorna Sports and FIM said MotoGP using Mandalika circuit for the next year. Maybe, at the end of this year, MotoGP racers will be testing out the circuit when they get a race tour in southeast Asia. but, we just watch, because there is no MotoGP racer from Indonesia.

We watched a very nice race in Turkey GP last year. I think there will be a similar race this year as well. The weather is rainy in istanbul this morning, it looks like it will stay like this for a few more hours. Maybe towards the end of the race the risk of precipitation may disappear.
Ranking positions are also remarkable, Hamilton will close the gap in a short time. Verstappen is my favorite driver in this race Smiley

It should be a great race tomorrow in F1 as Bottas said he has his personal race tomorrow and my guess is Verstappen and with Lewis he has nothing to prove now as he shouldn't have done it way earlier but I think they are really good friends tho. Regarding RedBull ...hard to tell but I would love to see both of them on podium just because of that livery and their costumes as they bring a vibe of that Senna McLaren white and red.

I also think it could be an exciting race, can Verstappen overtake Bottas quickly and how fast can Hamilton get through the midfield? With a good start, Verstappen could overtake Bottas straight away and without a defect he should win the race.

Slava Ukraini!
If weather forecast don't lie, there will be no rain during race. Bottas will start 1st, but i don't think that it will took long time for Max to get into the lead. Lewis will start 11th because of penalty, but if nothing unexpected won't happen, I see him reaching 2nd place at least.

this could change after Indonesia sanctioned by WADA, I hope they don't cancel the Moto Gp tournament at the Mandalika circuit.
Regarding WADA, the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports will ensure the Mandalika circuit to hold WSBK and MotoGP next year, because with this kind of sanction and an earlier warning, the state party can immediately resolve existing problems with the aim of motorsport being not delayed.
As I understand, it will be same like Russian GP - there will be no anthem and flag in event. Also, it seems that we may have another driver in F1 racingg without flag next season, like Mazepin. Thailand got sanctions too, so, Alex Albon may be affected. Though, he may race with Great Britain flag.

Here are the quali’s results.  Take note that Hamilton will go back down 10 places for a penalty given due to a change of internal combustion engine.  From a betting perspective this is good.  Head to head prop for Hamilton to win vs Bottas is 2.07.  I think Hamilton wins even with the penalty.  Fastest lap for Hamilton at 2.75 is also good imho.  He’ll be going for it real hard to move up the grid as fast as possible.

...  Hamilton to win the race at 4.30 is veeery tempting cos we know he could do it.  He’s that good!  Cheesy

At the end of the qualifying session, Hamilton was at the first place by breaking another track record which is 1:22.868 . However, he won't be starting from the pole position as he has a 10-position grid penalty. He will be starting from the 11th position. Bottas and Verstappen fought for the pole and Bottas was the winner of it. But still, Verstappen has the potential to overtake him at the beginning of the race already. And I really appreciated Leclerc's effort that he will be starting from the 3rd position. It is going to be a great race I believe.

Thanks for sharing, the provisional calendar for 2022 looks very good, unfortunately Brno is again not included, but maybe next year I'll go to Sachsenring and see the race there live, is also a very nice track for the motorcycles.

Hopefully this schedule does not change or if it changes, the Mandalika circuit remains a racing plan in 2022. It looks interesting that Mandalika is the second race after the opening. I am indeed from Indonesia so I support MotoGP to be in my country, although it seems impossible to watch because it is quite far from me and costs a lot.
Last news  the circuit is still under construction, in August they had reached 92 percent. Even then, it has passed a virtual assessment conducted by Gregorio Lavilla as World SBK Executive Producer and World SBK Circuit Relations Senior Manager Eva Jirsenska.
