Cars are very close and more ringing bells from Mercedes with bottas.

It's great that the cars are close. I hope this carries over throughout the season and we see some real competition across the grid.
Bottas was complaining a bit, and Red Bull do look to have the best car (at least in Bahrain)... but I think it's clear that Mercedes have improved their car since the testing, and will be right up there at the top of grid. Difficult to determine at the moment how representative current performance is compared to the cooler tracks of Europe, though.

I think Mercedes may be right that the subtle rule changes for this season have impacted their low-rake design more than Red Bull's high-rake... in which case Mercedes could well be on the back foot all season, still up near the front of the grid, yes, but perhaps behind Max.

@Cnut237 these car changes are bound to create some buzz once the season starts, because it may finally allow other teams to attack Mercedes for the top spot. However I wouldn’t be surprised that despite these changes Mercedes yet manages to win all the races, and I’m pretty sure that many here will agree with my views.

At the end of the session, he said, "this car is not guidable"

Good Ferrari maybe even better than what we hoped!

The new season has finally started! It looks like Red Bull is really fast this time and I expect them to be faster in this season. I would expect a better start from Aston Martin and Alpine but it was really disappointing. However, we will see the real performances in qualifying and the race. Then, we can have a clearer opinion.

Some interesting results so far even if timers are slow.

Mclarens near the Top, Ferrari close to the second Redbull.
Good Alfa Romeo.

Aston Martin and Alpine Disaster.

Sour

Alfa Romeo did suprisely well. Let's see what they can do in the next practice. That will have the same conditions as the quali and the race.

As you may now we probably have some sprint races this year, they have the 1st draw of the rules:

Friday, Q3 Q2 Q1 most like they qualify as now

Saturday, sprint race 100km (30-40minute ish) with start from the grid as Friday's results and points for the top 3 driver (and teams?)

Sunday, full race with starting grid equal to the result of sprint race

Maybe..  And being mostly an RBR fan, I’d def love to see Verstappen get a driver’s championship and troll Hamilton out of a record.  Grin  I’m not that hopeful tho.  But we’ll see.  Smiley

And I don’t want Schumacher’s record to be broken tbh...  Not by Hamilton at least.  Lol.

Hamilton is a great drive but as proven by Russell anyone can win with Mercedes, to be the best he needs to have balls, change the team and start again.

3 day at start, hype.

I can't wait till the next race. Let's hope a non Mercedes will win the first race. Otherwise it will be boring from the start.

I am also very hyped about the new season. There are only 3 days for the race and the season is going to be underway tomorrow with Practices. I would also love to see another pilot rather than Mercedes' winning the race. Because Mercedes has been dominating F1 for many years and I wouldn't say no to a change from now on.  Grin

I think he will have the balls as soon as he wins the 8th title and become the best driver in the world. He can go to Ferrari,McLaren again or at RedBull and he would not mind how it will go.I am also looking forward to that and would love to see this happen.

I don't know if you guys noticed it but in the F1 official page I saw MSC standing for Mick Schumacher during testing and it felt great seeing it again after many years. Also Mick too said it was very happy for it because it felt a bond to these letters referring to his father Michael Schumacher.

Yeah the commentators also explained why Michael had MSC and not SCH, it was because of Ralf ! I didn't know/remember that.

To be honest I'm not convinced, if Mick wants to prove he deserves his seat in F1, he should be his own man. He can't avoid being compared to his father but he could at least get his own 3 letters !

I'm not sure if that's true, Michael Schumacher was in F1 long before Ralf and I don't remember Michael ever having anything other than MSC. Ralf I think had RSC. Mick still had SCH in Formula 2 and I agree that he should remain authentic and not use his father's acronym.

But they didn't start in F1, they started in karting, then lower series.

Unfortunately, I was waiting for him in Qatar. It seems the Tim doesn't want to make a mistake with his injury. Regarding his racing style, before his injury he was a brave racer. He dared to duel to take risks outside the track. With Honda he became very strong, it was like Rosi before moving to Yamaha and Ducati. For now I don't know how he is, I think he needs to adapt again. He had to adjust, after all this time of being injured. I hope he will join soon after the two series like you said.

He is the better driver in this MotoGP, he can win the title with 2-4 fewer races over the others.
The important thing for him is to heal.

He got a huge problem after the operation his career was at risk and now he needs to take 0 risks or if he will get a problem it will a huge one.

It's now official Marquez will skip at least 2 races at the start of this season, starting next week.
According to Honda, he will no be present in the first 2 races (for now) in Qatar.

To me he is so overpowered compared to other that he can easily win the title anyway but if he will end in skipping more races up to 5 it becomes to be a hard task to achivie.

This is interesting, F1 after the situation of 2020 where with Covid they raced in the interesting circuit is now thinking to rotate circuits from 2022.

According to liberty media tracks like Mugello or Portimao or even Imola got a huge success in tv shares not only because are "real old" tracks but because people saw these tracks like a new race since they remember almost nothing of the track.

For now, the idea is to add a "jolly" rotating GP, different every year.

Again, sorry this is the article it is only in Italian https://www.formulapassion.it/motorsport/formula-1/gp-a-rotazione-calendario-f1-dal-2022-imola-mugello-portimao-nurburgring-istanbul-hockenheim-556120.html

^  Lol  I don’t think so.  Mercedes is way ahead in R&D of hybrid V6 turbo power units.
And going back to Vettel losing his hair..  maybe he should get some tips from Hamilton in how to get them back.  Cheesy

I'm not so sure. Honda every time they left F1 they won the title, this year can be their year bit a big push from Honda and a "relaxing may be too optimistic" year from Mercedes.

Even starting with 2 races less it will be difficult for him.I know he is way better than the others but he starts with -50 points in theory and if he crashes one or more times during the Championship it can become impossible for him to win the title.I believe he can though because there is no real competition to him in terms of skillful riders.

All car manufacturers are merging recently. We have Stellantis, for example, which includes all these brands: Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, DS Automobiles, Fiat, Fiat Professional, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Opel, Peugeot, Ram Trucks and Vauxhall Motors.
And by the way, Stellantis is a shitty name. Italy, in practice, no longer has a purely Italian car manufacturer.

Unfortunately that is the case.General Motors bought Fiat a few years ago when Fiat was in financial difficulties.Fiat owned other cars like Alfa Romeo and Lancia which together were the iconic trio.

Renault I think has bought Nissan as all diesel cars from Nissan from quite some years use the dci engine which was invented by Renault.
