Hey guys... It's the Chinese GP!  It would have been nice if somebody bumped the thread to remind us.  Grin

I totally thought the race wasn't on for another two weeks.  FP1 and FP2 are done.  Hamilton is looking good it seems...

If I'm the only guy to keep bringing more info about F1, then I think I'm gonna make a thread per event in an attempt to get new people to follow the races and keep the discussions isolated per event.

Ouch, I hope the Ferrari mechanic is okay.

Shame that Verstappen, Ricciardo, and Raikkonen didn't get to finish, but I'm glad that Vettel won Smiley

Amazing racewith dramatic finnish. Masterclass by Vettel - 35 laps in soft tyres. One lap more and Bottas probably would overtake him.
Awful weekend for Red Bull - both drivers retired in first laps - Ricciardo retired due to technical problems and Verstappen after collision with Hamilton.
Great achievement by Gasly - he finnished 4th. Well, maybe Honda engines aren't that bad Cheesy.
While Alonso now 4th in drivers championship and Mclaren 3rd in constructors cup - really solid results so far.
And Kimi had very bad accident during pit stop. One of Ferarri mechanics was injured - his leg was broken...

Just saw the replay...  Yup, Vettel managed those tires well.  But props to his whole team for getting the calculations and the pit timing right.

And by the looks of it I think I'm gonna lose both prop bets.  Lol.

Edit:  Just read that Vettel was supposed to pit twice but his team decided to risk it and let him finish with his tires.  What a sweet win.

After this double weekend we saw many mistakes in both F1 and motoGP. We had incident with Ferrari in pit with kimi 2nd tyre change, lucky for team no injuries and that is good. Race was ok Ferrari other driver seb made then 2nd win this season, maybe they made good car this time long to play till end of this season.

In motoGP we saw one thing that was good for whole race and that was Marquez kamikaze riding. Must say this word he was great considering everything but he was this time a real kamikaze rider like those pilot in WWII. If he didnt made all those mistakes probably race would be boring this was race was good.

Hmmm...  I think I made a big mistake in assuming that Hamilton can win at Bahrain with that grid penalty.  It's becoming some kind of trend that Bahrain is Ferrari's race.

Gear box change for Hamilton.  So that's a 5 place grid penalty.  But I'm pretty sure he'll ace qualifying, start at 6th and could still prolly win the race...  Remember when he started from the pit last year and still finished 4th?

Made a small bet at Nitrogen for a Hamilton win at 3.50.  Grin

You guys wanna have a new thread at every racing event rather than having everything in one huge thread?  This thread is dying anyway.  I think it's better to have each race with its own thread.

That's just me, but I wonder what you guys think.
I don't think that we need new separate threads for every racing series. It seems that there aren't many people on Bitcointalk who are interested in motosport and this is why this thread aren't very active. People discussing here mainly about F1 and MotoGP sometimes and while there aren't so many posts, for me it's more convenient to have one huge thread.

Results for the 2018 Bahrain GP are in.  Redbull are on top thru Ricciardo, followed by Mercedes' Bottas, Raikonnen, Vettel then Hamilton completing the top 5.  Verstappen had some electronic issues with his car, so he spent most of his time in the garage...  Nice.  It's not looking good for my side bets if this continues.

About Haas. Force India and McClaren are demanding an investigation for their magical improvement this year. They are saying that Haas might have done something illegal and that it may have received more assistance from Ferrari.

I reckon Force India and McClaren already know that they will lose many races to Haas this year hehehe.

McLaren executive director, Zak Brown, added: "We all know they have a very close alliance with Ferrari. We need to make sure it's not too close.

"There could be some influence, there are certainly some parts of the car that look very similar."

Force India chief operating officer Otmar Szafnauer hailed Haas's sensational improvements as "magic" and wants the matter discussed at the F1 Strategy Group.

He said: "I don't know how they do it, it's magic. It's never been done before in Formula One.

"I just don't know how it can be right that someone who's been in the sport for a couple of years with no resource could produce a car like this.

"Does it happen by magic? If it does, I want the wand!

"All the aerodynamic surfaces have to be your own. If they're not, I don't know how you can tell unless you start investigating.

^  LOL.  Two words...  Sour grapes.

Haas has just been around for two years and has done something with less money spent than the likes of Renault, Force India and McClaren...  What should that tell everybody?  The latter three's incompetence is being exposed.  I don't think the accusations against Haas are true.

Happy to see Alonso in 5th position after few terrible previous seasons. And it looks that bottom positions for Torro Rosso with Honda engine will be common thing. What a surprise... Williams also looks poor so far.
Yeah, Haas very unlucky today, if not these pit stop disasters, they was able to reach best result in their history.
@tokeweed, I don't believe that Red Bull will have more points than Ferrari in constructors cup by the end of the season.
But I think that Ricciardo will have more points than Verstappen, so I can bet against you Cheesy

Are we on with both bets?

I think Redbull will have more points than Ferrari.

I think Verstappen will have more points than Ricciardo.

Edit:  10 USD in BTC each.
Ok, I'm in with both bets Cheesy

I think I'm gonna regret the 'Redbull having more points than Ferrari by the end of the season' one, but whatever...  Both bets are BOOKED!  Wink

I hope this also makes for good banter between us as we follow the season in relation to our bets.  Good luck.
