^  Meh.  It's hard to say really.  Verstappen was defending too aggressively, he's more to blame than Ricciardo imho.  I remember he did the same to Vettel, Raikonnen and Hamilton (I think) in the 2016 (or was it 2017?) season.  And he has been making mistakes in each race this season.

Vettel's and Raikonnen's complaints against him in the past are justified.

This race was not boring at all. I knew the two Red Bulls would crash sooner or later by seeing they were fighting each other lap after lap, I cannot blame Verstappen this time. That was the most beautiful part of the race for me a huge crash. As a fan of Mclaren I am greatly disappointed by their performance and I think the Renault power unit is as bad as Honda.

Really exciting race. Bottas had great chance to win race after he made his pit stop during safety car, but then he suffered puncture. Hamilton was very lucky to win today. Despite that it was only his first win, he already became a championship leader.
I'm not surprised to see how Red Bull drivers ended race today. During whole race they had some more minor accidents. Max moved twice before braking and Daniel just had nowhere to go. And again, Verstappen ruined race for Vettel.
Alonso showed masterclass again - he reached pit zone without two tyres and then he managed to reach finnish in 7th position. And great result for Leclerc - 6th position.
And biggest WTF today - Grosjean crash during safety car. I can't understand why he blamed Ericsson for it Cheesy

What an exciting race, the outcome was really unexpected considering the situation at the end. Hamilton was so lucky and finished first. Vetel in the manner of a true champion pushed hard to win the race bad he actually pushed to hard and that cost him placement and podium. Such a shame for Botas with that flat tire, Mercedes had a double win situation at the end of the race. And what to say about Red Bull accident... If I was the head of the team I would be soooo angry. I know what rivalry means but that was so stupid by both drivers. Probably you don`t think  rational when you are in that kind of situation, giving your whole self to make as better as you can. Still, very very bad for Red Bull team.
Baku is my favorite track. I`m gonna buy F1 for PC just because of this one, I can`t wait to drive it  Cheesy

How could Grosjean blame his crash on Magnussen? Was going so well for him before that too Sad

edit Wow, I can't remember a race this exciting since... Baku last year lol

Guys?  Anybody around?  Lol.  I feel so alone here.  Ciccio used to come in this thread a lot, but I've noticed he hasn't been posting a lot since he lost his FJ sig campaign slot.  Lmao!  Cheesy

It would've been nice if the people around here posted for fun and discussion too, not just profit.

Anyway...  So Vettel showed up in FP3 and qualifying and got pole.

The race is starting now btw...  Weeeee!

Edit:  Lol Ocon.  He was doing really good the whole weekend...  Too bad.  Sad

Force India was strong during FP1, with Perez and Ocon finishing third and fifth.  Merc and RBR were strong too as expected with Bottas at first and Ricciardo second.  The Ferraris were meh...

At FP2, RBR def showed strength with Ricciardo and Verstappen first and third, Raikonnen was second and the Mercsmat fourth and fifth.  Where's Vettel?  Lol.  Grin  ...  Down at 11th.  It was his fault, not the car's when asked by media.

FP3 is ongoing right now...

Anyway can't the time sheets.  I'm on mobile...  Too lazy to copy/paste.

FP1 at Baku in 45 mins or so...  I can't be more excited for this race.  We have RBR getting close to their best, Ferrari who are at their best and we have Merc potentially reaching their best on Sunday.  Grin

Can't wait for qualifying and see the starting grid!

Some gossip on the internet saying that Lewis will leave Mercedes for Ferrari in the end of this season, and then Ricciardo will also leave Redbull and go to Mercedes.

Source https://www.eurosport.com/formula-1/season-2018/2018/mercedes-boss-toto-wolff-admits-lewis-hamilton-could-join-ferrari_sto6709307/story.shtml

I am not sure how true but I would like to see Lewis and Sebastian in one team and settle who is better once and for all.

Also that makes one Redbull seat vacant for Fernando Alonso hehehe.

iam not believe if lewis hamilton join in ferari
and then team mate with sebastian vettel, so 2 ferari driver can dominate

@LTU_btc. But where would Lewis go if Mercedes were to lose him after this season? There is only once place to go, and that would only be to Ferrari, I reckon.

Also, a Lewis and Sebastian team up is not that impossible if you consider Ferrari's history of hiring 2 first class drivers at the same time.
Vettel and Hamilton in Ferrari at the same time is impossible scenario in my opinion. And for Ferrari it's more common to have 1 first class driver like Schumacher, Alonso or Vettel and 2nd drivers such as Barrichello, Massa or Kimi are just helping to leader.
And few days ago I was reading interesting news where Mark Hughes said that Ricciardo already signed contract with Ferrari, not sure is it true or not.

I hardly can imagine Hamilton and Vettel in the same team. But there are lot of speculations about Ricciardo, will he join Ferrari or Mercedes. But few days ago I saw news that he will sign new 2 year contract with Red Bull. After these 2 year Vettel contract with Ferrari will expire and Ricciardo probably will join Ferrari.
Alonso in Red Bull - not very likely to happen. I think that Red Bull will choose someone from Torro Rosso or another young driver.

It was great race to watch. When safety car was released Red Bull decided to make free pit stop and change tyres for both drivers. And with fresh tyres Ricciardo and Verstappen was much faster than Ferrari and Mercedes drivers who hadn't chance to make 2nd pit stop. Ricciardo overtake all hos opponents. It's interesting that Ricciardo won all his races when he started out of top 3.
Verstappen also had fresh tyres but he made banzai attack against Vettel. I don't know why Max are always risking to much when there are no chance to overtake. He had to be more patient and attack Vettel on next DRS zone. He got 10 sec. time penalty but still finnished above Vettel
I think that Ferrari failed with Kimi today, they had to change his tyres earlier, because he lost some positions. But after collision between Vettel and Verstappen he returned to 3rd position.

Watched the race and read the reviews...  So it seems there's some sort of controversy with Whiting's call on the safety car.  He made it at a time that would make it impossible for Vettel and Bottas pit if they wanted to.  Some fans are saying that he was trying to rig the race for a Hamilton win, but Hamilton didn't pit.  Ricciardo and Verstappen did.

Anyway I wonder what would've happened if Hamilton also made the pit and switched to the soft tires...

Good race to watch however as a fan of Mclaren I am greatly disappointed with their poor performance and they supposedly have a better engine than Honda with the Renault this year. They are fighting in a mediocre way in the middle of the field, it is a shame for Mclaren to be not fighting for the top stops from many years now. Probably their aerodynamics engineering team is not as good as it should be.

I didn't watch the race, didn't see any highlights and no reading of news, articles, blogs or race reviews or anything.  All I know is Ricciardo won wow, how did that happen?  I can't wait to watch the replay and see what really happened...  My best guess would be a collision or something.

And I made a last minute bet on Hamilton at 4.50.  It seemed like value at the time...  Meh.

Anyway here are the results.  I did a quick copy/paste.  Lol.

@LTU_btc. I agree. Last season was also started strongly by Ferrari, but by the race in Baku, you can already see that Sebastian Vettel was already in a full breakdown and giving their season away to Mercedes.

But what I want to see is Lewis and Sebastian both driving for Ferrari. I want to see who's the better driver hehehe. I reckon it might be Lewis.

If Vettel wins this then I guess it would be safe to assume that he's gonna win his first driver's championship with Ferrari...?  I don't think there was a driver who lost one after winning the first three races.  At least that's what I'm told (by my friend, who prolly was talking out of his ass Grin).
It's way too early say only after 2 first races and qualification of 3rd GP.. It's not first time when Ferrari are starting strong, but season is very long. Despite that Mercedes doesn't looks impressive but I'm sure that there will be a close fight between and Vettel and Hamilton throughout the season.
