So many good movies out there, but I really like "Magnolia". It's a heavy one, but the message is amazing. "Fight club" is also one of my favorites.
(Both from 1999)

Tom Cruise is great in Magnolia. I don't think it's a classic or anything but it's my favourite film by Paul Thomas Anderson (I think he's over-rated).

Has anyone seen "That Awkward Moment?"  Looked prefty fnny while it was in the theaters.

It got panned by the critics. Haven't seen even the trailer though.

Panned is putting it nicely. It got absolutely annihilated by critics: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/that_awkward_moment/

I'll still watch it though. People seem to have enjoyed it somewhat from the audience reviews. I'm sure there'll be a couple of laughs in it and the critics were probably being overly harsh like they usually are with these types of comedies.

Yeah it definitely doesn't look like a film that would be critically acclaimed

I just got done watching Divergent and if your patient the film is pretty good as the story builds.  Not a classic IMO but it's worth watching and recommending IMO.

I wanted to see that, but it seemed like more of a "wait till download or dvd" type movie

yeah the premise is whatever.. these dystopian futuristic movies just don't jive with me... even though i want them to. they just ignore too much logic imo. i saw elysium and it was kind of stupid.

Elysium was ok. I usually like dystopian films. Watched Total Recall last night. Bit dated and cheesy in places but I'm going to watch the remake later today and see how that compares.

The remake was entertaining but not great or anything. Kate Beckinsale is so hot though. She is a 10

really?   I wasn't too into the first one.   I am not really into comic book adaptations, so I guess I would be a bad judge of these.   I liked Batman and Iron Man, but haven't really liked the other ones so much

yeah i didn't like the first that much either.. comic book movies are mostly all action and no story.. with the exception of the batman series and watchmen. the newer superman had a decent run at trying to portray a story, but it wasn't nearly as good as batman.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Watchmen, that was actually a really good one Smiley

I much prefer movies that take place in the future than in the past.

check out the south korean film "old boy" .. it was pretty awesome and twisted.

They just remade it. I haven't seen it but I've seen the original. Think they're remaking Sympathy for Lady Vengeance soon too.

i'm not going to bother with the re-make.. it sounds terrible.

oh and there's a japanese film that i liked called "departures." http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1069238/?ref_=nv_sr_1

if someone has recommendations for good foreign films i haven't seen, that'd be great.

I like the film Babel.  I have to watch that one again because I don't even remember what I like about it I just remember it was enjoyable at the moment.
Just saw the trailer. Got to see it - looks like a great movie.
