Just watched Captain America: The Return of the First Avenger at movie theater.
I liked it, I would rate it 4/5

Watched Hancock from Netflix at this weekend too, first 45 minutes was pretty good then it got not so good but then it got better to the end... 2/5

Hancock was pretty entertaining.

Yeah, it was. But why didn't that woman just say "hey, we die if you don't leave"? Love? Well I don't think so because she tried to kill him Cheesy

It's been a while since I've seen it so I'm not sure what part that is lol.

I thought it was enjoyable for what it was. Heard they were trying to make a sequel, but Will Smith always charges way too much to star in films now.

12 years a slave , good insight into the slavery.

It was pretty brutal. Deserved the awards.

I just watched Mr. Nobody. It was better than I expected.

It's sort of an under-appreciated movie most probably haven't heard of, but if you like offbeat types of movies that make you think, you might like it. It's on netflix streaming right now.

There was a discussion of this movie earlier in the thread.   A lot of people liked it (including myself)

A handful of people have mentioned it including myself. I need to watch it again but I really enjoyed it the first and only time I watched it years ago.

I was really disappointed with Gravity. Nice visuals, but I think the entire script may have fit onto 2 pages. They sort of forgot a couple of things good movies usually have... like a story and interesting characters.

Yeah, looked pretty but was pretty dull (like my ex girlfriend haha). I think the movie could've been better cast too. I'm sure a couple of unknowns would've given better performances.

Other movies I saw recently were American Hustle (recommend), Fists in the pocket (a 60's Italian film), which I liked, but probably isn't to everyone's taste, and Gravity.

I'll have to look back and see what people said out of curiosity.

One odd thing about it was it was made in 2009 and not released in the US until now. I guess they had a hard time figuring out how to market it. It sort of reminded me of the Fountain, sorta... at least in the metaphysical trippy sort of way. Although I liked Mr. Nobody better.

Just watched Jack Reacher. Quite enjoyed it, but Tom Cruise was pretty much just in his Tom Cruise / Ethan Hunt Mission Impossible character but a bit more kick ass and wittier. Laughed a few times at the running joke of him stealing cars (at least I think it was a running joke haha). Looking forward to the sequel now.

the purge is lame

I don't think so. The theme was unique. And it is having a rating of 5.5 / 10 in the IMDB and 37% in the Rotten Tomatoes.

I haven't seen The Purge but those don't really indicate a great film. What makes it unique (without giving the plot away)? I usually like horror films if they're a bit different.

With "Purge" it is the plot itself that makes it unique.  Maybe guessing who is the "bad guy" in the movie makes it a little unique since all crime is legal in that movie for a 12 hour window or whatever...
