A9's are bigger. At least 140mm.

@Jjmoralesw - do not even think about changing fan speed until you 1st throttle the miner down to a lower speed by lowering voltage and freq.

Good luck with that as the 921 is very picky about what settings will let it run at all...

I forget is it a four pin 120mm fan?

Hi, I have an issue with the rpm of one 921. the fan model is different than the others (AVS 1413BU) and it runs at 8500 rpm at 100%
is there a conf or script that allows me to limit the top rpm the fans run.
i tried limiting the voltage and total power of fans, but the rest of the machines start heating, so is not the best option.
Can u provide some asistance on this matter?

Really do not pass the command to change the frequency through the line More Option. Tell me, is there another method of lowering the frequency?

Frequency commands might be broken, it was like that on the A8's as well until they were told how to fix it but I think they only fixed the 8 series.

I tried to enter through the "More option", it changes the voltage, but as soon as I enter the frequency change by type "-- avalon9-freq 600:625:650:675" it does not accept the command. Tell me, am I entering data incorrectly into a string or do I need to lower the frequency in another way?
Well, post #33 here on page 2 of this thread has a list of all A9 commands.

While you are there, that page also has results of Phil's playing with voltage-level.

Unlike previous Avalons, the 921 does not like using the More Options entry box to change it. Several folks have experimented with different freq, voltage level, voltage level offset, etc with very limited results.

It pretty much only runs in the 2 modes that Canaan gave us.

I want to try maximum energy efficiency watt/th.
How can I lower the frequency on avlon 921???

I just updated my A921 controller units with the nicehash firmware and latest MM, it's really good.

No more rejected shares at all.

Okay burned out my Cooling fan. Apparently its a 4 pin type and not the typical one for most miners. Anyone know who sells these besides Alibaba.
Any of the distributors carry cooling fans for the A921?
Check Canaan's website for the distributor closest to you and get one from them. Make sure they know you want a fan for the 921 as most sites only list the A6-8 series fans.

 The 921 uses a 140mm fan - not a 120mm one like the A6/7/8's, & s9's etc use.
Just looked at one of my idle ones and it is an AVC model DBPC1438B2H  takes 12v @ 4.6A

Hmm. Seems someone has a youtube vid on how to repair similar ones so maybe give it a try? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQkaGyoDWBQ

I just checked my A921 MM versions and noticed I have a mix of 9211809-b4b3d00 and 9211809-b150820 on each RPi.

Any suggestions which is better? And is it better to upgrade them and use same MM on each RPi?

I wonder if the best way to try it would be with 4 chains separated by the MM firmware but you'll need more AUC3's and with five units on one controller would have to likely have two on one chain.

On the same note can 1 controller using the latest firmware, run 5 connected miners setup with different dated MM Firmware.

Most likely no  as in my case with 2 units it was a no go and some one else could not get two or three a921's to play nice.

but I suspect  that some pairings of  different mm firmware could work together .  It would depend on how the  changes in a different pair work together.

Zero proof on that guess.

Two cases that separate MM firmware did not work together
