Another 'gotcha' can be the USB-A to micro cable feeding the AUC3 - be sure it is a DATA cable and not just a charger cable. Charger cables usually do not support data xfr as all 4 wires in them are used for power.

^^ You do know that just like the A721/741 and 821/841 use their own software versions the 921 needs to be ran on a Pi using 921 software (OpenWrt) and you cannot mix models on 1 controller? Avalon 921 software here

yes I know and also the rpi needs ..5 VDC,  2.5 A  'wall wart' power supply...............whats frustrating is minicards work with other devices and minera works with card on same rpi 3 and 3+
whats in canaan for the A921 isn't working for me.
My A721, A841 are all on rpi3's and unsuccessful with making a controller for the A921

...wait your link has a new version

edit- confirmed working now

I did rasp pi  first.

I did also.  I'm also wondering if it was an issue by having the 921s paired up instead of single?  Something else I need to work out.

I wonder if it's a chicken and egg thing...which one do you update first?  We were trying to update both...I'll have to try again.

Got it working. The issue was resolved by updating to the latest MM921.mcs

Good to read this.

Both my rasp pi and my mcs are up to date. Which is why it worked off the bat for me.

I can't figure out what the issue with my unit is. When the miner boots up, the fan revs up and back down as I imagine it should. But then it sits there without mining. The AUC3 stays green but every ~7 minutes briefly flashes red then goes back to green again. The led on the A921 stays blue.

i got both to work.
I got one more choice with fans

I can set high and low

so 20% and 80%

but power hungry gear Maybe 92 watts a gh

and on low settings with the a841 I could do the same.

I like avalon and how they run their company but this is not good gear for me.

Yea, so far I'm really disappointed with the efficiency of the 921 unless I can find a sweet spot somewhere with firmware and settings.  Buying from Blokforge it's slightly cheaper to get 2 A921s at $349 each with 2 of the 2000W PSUs than getting 3 A841s at $349 with the free PSUs so it's kind of even either way.  It is nice that you can get more HR in a smaller footprint but that's about the only advantage right now.

Did you update controller or miners first? I was going to try doing the controller first but not sure if I'll bother with it.

Actually the OpenWrt 20190103 worked but installing MM 2019-01-03 caused it to look brick-ish Smiley

I experienced exact opposite. Latest MM worked, but OpenWrt bricked them into idle status. Reverted back to OpenWrt 20181011, but still on MM 20190103. I upgraded MM first. I tried flashing a few more times and power cycling before reverting back.

Edit: Trying to keep MM 20190103 with older OpenWrt caused them to keep rebooting. Reverted to MM 20181025 and good so far.

Not sure why it didn't like the new version.  Actually the OpenWrt 20190103 worked but installing MM 2019-01-03 caused it to look brick-ish Smiley

But in the process of trying to get it to work again we ended up with OpenWrt 20181011 and MM firmware 2018-09-26 which was better than what I had to start out with.

EDIT:  I'm reading about 1900W on all 4 of these machines (using offset -2).  Ouch! Using the poolside average TH it looks like 91.8-92.4j/TH for me.
EDIT2:  If I go by the GHSav on the status page it's about 87j/TH.

Yes, and it finally came back up by installing OpenWrt 20181011 and MM firmware 2018-09-26.  Could not get anywhere with version 20190103 on the first round of 4 921s on 2 different controllers.

mine works fine.

wonder why yours does not.

even though it works it is still a power hog.

1900 watts on this psu

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Antminer-L3-Platinum-HP-Server-PSU-2450w-Power-Supply-Kit-For-S9-T9-S7-L3-UR/253877245214?

as much as I like avalon as a company I still can not say I like the a921 or the a851

the a841 can be found at blokforge and I can get better efficiency running it then I can running this

Did you update both openwrt for the rasp pi and mm for the A921?

yes both just finished.

here is a change on config page

Voltage Level Offset(Default: 0)     set to -2

Minimum Fan%(Range: 0-100, Default: 10%) set to 20%

Maximum Fan%(Range: 0-100, Default: 100%) set to 80%

API Allow(Default: W:127.0.0.1)

More Options --avalon9-voltage-level -4   set to -4

set volts to -15

and got
from the cgminer api log

 Vo[3924 3942 3913 3901]

It pulls about 1798 watts and hashes like shit as it insists on a high freq like 775

still trying to hope it improves

My data center tried version 20190103 and this is all I see now...

Code:
[Firmware Version] => Avalon Firmware - 20190103
    luci: 62d814c
    cgminer: b5b497e
    cgminer-packages: 960e108
Socket connect failed => Connection refused

They reverted to the backup and still getting the Socket connect failed.
