You can have two os cards.  But only one at a time will work.

If you have two different models you will need two rasp pis. I am running a pair of  a721 and a a921.

I have two rasp pi each with its own sd card.

It is recommended to have a dedicated Rasp Pi for each different Avalon generation.

From what posted at Blokforge it seems it can be used:

Controller comes with latest firmware for 821 / 841, can be easily flashed for 721 /741 or the 921...

Also, it is recommended to use up to 20 AvalonMiners 721 / 741 /821 / 841 / 921 with this unit.

Or may be it meant you need to flash it again and use it for them.

Hey Guys,

Can the same controller for an 841 be used for a 921 simultaneously?

I had 10 units connected to the pi with 20181011 image. Updating MM to 2019-03-04 caused the pi to only show 3 on each connector instead of 5 and 0 hash rate.

Will test again with new pi image when I visit them.

Sometimes the MM and pi software won't work together, once the pi is updated the latest MM should work and display the proper hashrate. I've noticed that even if it says 0 it is still doing something, but not being able to see the hashrate can cause tracking problems.

Yeah I don't have easy access to my a921  and have not upgraded it at all since the posts I did here a while back.

Same here, I'm going to image an sd card and send it to my rigs location to test.

Just remote update the latest MM, and its giving me 0 hash rate. Reverted back.

ref https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.49168363 for results of more 921 settings (and some 741/841 ones as well).

Awesome,

Thanks a lot.

I run 2 sets for 3-4 days on 2  PSUs, 2200 and 2500 Watts

Here are my results:

Code:
PSU 2500 Watts GUI Voltage offset 0:
 GUI Average speed                         20.989 THs
 BTC.com Daily average speed               21.18THs,
 Power                                     2.2 KW

PSU 2200 Watts GUI Voltage offset -1:
 GUI Average speed                         20.969 THs
 BTC.com Daily average speed               21.28THs,

If the power brick doesn't work, try loading the October firmware on the controller and miners. I and others couldn't get the January firmware to work and appears to not be compatible with all 921 units. January firmware bricked mine, however, I could still login to OpenWRT. Just no connections, no miners showing, and repeated boot loop. Cgminer would not start at all.

I reverted back to this firmware on the miners:
https://canaan.io/downloads/software/avalon921/mm/nexttesting/2018-10-25/

And this on the controller:
https://canaan.io/downloads/software/avalon921/openwrt/20181011/

I had the same issue with January RPi firmware. Using 2018-10-11 with no issues.

duh  forgot 921 pulls more juice.

mine  pulls 1800 to mine at 19th

With Voltage offset to 0 mine pulls around 2200 with 21 TH/s

With -1 it is around 2000 with 19-20 TH/s and with -2 pulls 1800 and 18-19 TH/s

so....it was the psus. Canaan sent me the 911 power supplies not the 921. They are sending me the correct ones via Dhl at no charge.

Thanks for helping guys, I ordered that power brick, but in the mean time I am going to try several different ones I have lying around the house. I have one for my home use pi but not sure if it’s the same amperage. I’ll bring that with me and some others. If none work, I’ll try the older firmware. It looks like they did install the January firmware on the controller.

Yes but unfortunately I am no longer local to you. My farm and I now reside in Michigan. I appreciate the offer though. I did not attempt to run all 10 miners yet. I only got halfway through unpacking/swapping miners before I realized that it was every single one with the problem. I do have another video call with Canaan techs tonight so I will post updates as they happen. It’s currently being powered by usb 3.0 directly connected to my server. I do have a samsung 5v 1amp spare power brick that I can use if you think the server isn’t supplying enough power. The server itself resides on a platinum 1000w ps running maybe 30% load.

When the controller is powered on the GUI is there and I can get into every submenu and make changes. It shows no active connections in its live monitoring and zero speed for fans and hashing. Canaan had me try one by one yesterday on the controller and even had me attempt to power on the miners with no wires connected (except the power supply) all attempts yielded the same result. No signs of life. No way to actually get into them. I was given four auc’s for room for growth after my next purchase after Chinese New Year when their next models are released.

that is the problem
