One day one of these scammers and con artists is going to wake up with a gun to their head and that will be the last thing they see, a silencer pointed straight in between their eyes. BTC is supposed to be the wild west right? No government, no laws, no rules. That's the same as drug trafficking and sex trafficking. Honestly these people that are stealing this much money are lucky they're still alive. I'm surprised people like PirateAt40 is still alive. They should of had a bullet in their head a long time ago, they're just lucky their dealing with nice people. I don't wish that on anybody, but one day someone's going to piss off the wrong person with these heists, ponzi schemes, and scams and they won't be afraid to waste another couple grand to find where they live and kill them.

I guess there is a little truth to this story. Bitcoin users have a lot of friendly, but also criminal users. Steal from the from person and it'll end up biting in your ass. There are a lot of crazy people out there.

The only thing I dont understand is why he never went to the police/never announced he was going to the police.
I think that he said it's because the bitcoin transaction is untraceable.
Well the hack is traceable, if it was a hack.

I would atleast try. Like you said, the hack could be traceable. He'll atleast be able to prove his 'innocence' and with a little luck the hacker left all the coins just sitting in an account. He'll give up the password after a little bit of waterboarding Tongue

I still don't think he is a scammer, but I guess we'll never find out what really happened.
Unless you sue him and it gets investigated.

No , he had said in an email interview about the hack that he has a fund of around 1500 BTC including his cold storage.
Not even nearly enough.

An immense gesture all the same.

I agree, he could've kept it for himself and 'quit the internet'. It takes a man to step up, and try to correct his mistakes.

If he manage to repay everyone in full, many people will trust him even more...
No. People would still not be sure if their funds would be secure in his next project (if any).

Why not? I would still trust him cause he repaid me 100% Smiley...

I mean that , no one is going to invest in him now , whether he scammed or not.
If he repays you back, why not.

We all know tradefortress is not a scammer

Noooo we don't, please stop licking his arsehole.

If he was a scammer , why would he refund a large amount of it ?
He could just dissappear forever.
Because of this exact reason. Now people won't suspect him as a scammer, but as someone who is trying to fix stuff. It's quite clever, because there will be still a lot of Bitcoin left for him after "trying" to refund a "large" amount of it.

If you are a scammer , why would you care if you had a reputation as a scammer ?
If he does it this way, he can come out "clean" and start the whole scam all over again.

By the way, I don't know if TF is a scammer, but choosing this technique would be the smartest way to go.

Starting out clean ?
I know that he is not a scammer , but even if he had no transaction fees on a new wallet, I still would not give him a cent.
He is not a scammer , but his coding has been shown to have exploitable holes.
If he returns money or does not return money makes no difference to his trust. He will not be able to get a large amount of money trusted into him again.
So , how does he benefit from returning money , if he is a scammer ?

His information is now public. If he just vanished, he'd be fucked over fast. Right now, he can't really be fucked over if he is a scammer.
