CBN ban accounts for trading cryptocurrency

The way things are moving in this regime, be like this government and their goons are determined to frustrate everyone to untimely death. This is the most confusing and disorganised democracy ruling I have seen.

According to Director of Banking Supervision, J. Y. Mammanand instructed the commercial banks to close down accounts trading cryptocurrency.

You are hereby directed to close accounts of the underlisted bank customers and place the funds in the accounts in suspense accounts for engaging in cryptocurrency trading in contravention of CBN Circular BSD/DIR/PUB/014/001 dated February 5, 2021

I'm not sure if this is Nepotism, because this government is very good at it, blacklisting just 2 accounts is strange. I hope we are all safe, man cannot carry gun or steal, man want to survive in legit and government no get head to help youth. Sad<>
I do wonder where the youths of this country(Nigeria) get it wrong that makes the Nigerian government treat them bad this way. First of November last year the Nigerian government and CBN ban transacting crypto with banks, whereby shutting down of accounts that have ever transacted crypto with banks. Yet, our government has not shut down the account of even one bandit or terrorist. Does the Nigerian government prefer our youths to engage in terrorism? Na big time Noooo be that.
The same Nigerian government is now labelling everyone as a criminal if you receive deposits from crypto transactions. It's so pathetic to experience this, in this present regime. We go survive and make am by the special grace of God(Amen)
This our country matter tire me seriously, i wonder weting they wrong for trading wey them they raise shoulder talk say them go ban plenty account involved. This crypto self na weting some of the youths take they live, una live us say no proper work wey we fit do, we decide to go to the world and bring good to our tables them still they ban us, I wonder weting them they expect us to do.

FCMB BANK HAS JOINED THE GANG OF BAN

It is really fraustrating at times to be a young Nigerian. I can't imagine why a country like Nigeria that has not created enough jobs and equal opportunities for youths, will be so hell bent on ensuring that it's citizens continue to live in poverty and lack. Small crypto wey boys dey use take get money nai dem wan frustrate like this.

FCMB BANK HAS JOINED THE GANG OF BAN

As e dy be na, I say make I know the kpege weh dy happen for our naija say make I get some news na him I see one headline say FCMB has join the bad boy gang, say if you dy deal with high volume of transactions and you dy within the age of 18 to 30, such accounts should be flag as internally sent to their staffs as memo.

The memo content as reported by Gazette

Quote
Compliance Advisory on Cryptocurrency Dealing/Transactions” is in furtherance of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s ban on the trading of cryptocurrency in the country.

Accounts “with high volume transactions operated by individuals between the age brackets of 18-30 years as signatories,” should be flagged for possible fraudulent activities by staff members, the memo said.

Source:- Gazette

They claimed they are trying to weed out money launderers and criminals, this people are funny sha because the rate at which money is been laundered through fiat in this country is at high but they are trying to used cryptocurrency to justify their actions.

Yesterday, court been sentenced Former Pension Boss Abdurasheed Maina to prison for laundering #2 billion, or around $5 million. He was only a scapegoat, I believe that if they look deeply, top 50% of government officials would be imprisoned for mismanagement and looting.

Cryptocurrency is here to stay and this is my recommendation because very soon, few other banks will soon follow procedures and you wouldn't want your account be flagged, there is no alternative to get a new bank account since BVN is involve.

Some us having been trading for long with some p2p traders, kindly whitelist their names and sell to them only whenever you want to trade your fiat or buy Fiat. It doesn't have to be outside, it should be within Binance since many Nigerians used the platform.

Another recommendation, used p2p here  created by Brainboss, he is one of the most trusted member here. You can see other reviews and trade on this [thread]

My final suggestion is for Luna users. I received their email yesterday confirming that they will resume depositing and withdrawing funds via vouchers, but they have yet to convey the process for completing transactions.
Unlike Binance, where you can easily obtain the sellers and buyers banks details, it was a straight transfer in LUNO. However, since CBN stopped everything without revealing the buyers and sellers accounts, I'm not sure how it will appear using a voucher; it could look like a gift card or something similar.

 ALERT
I hear say CBN don get insiders on binance P2P, after you don trade finish, your bank account gets a post no debit order, you no go know waiting hit you because even company accounts are been suspended too.
So if you wan use binance P2P, make sure say you check the number of trades the person don get first, small amount of trade is a red flag.

but there's one thing you should know: whether PDP or APC, bitcoin or cryocurrencies are not legal tender in any African country.
But inline with your comment, no Africa country legalize bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies as legal while not deemed illegal in some, especially in sub-sahara countries.

That's the more reason people should be careful while doing P2P or any other related p2p trading it's sad to see that the P2p that was see as sure plug is now something else. I hear say CBN agents don dey penetrate most of the major p2p platform now to observe wetin dey happen and who to freeze. Too bad that now we don't not even know who to trust anymore especially on. Binance.

ICYMI: Court unfreezes accounts blocked by CBN for cryptocurrency trading.

But last month, the court has ordered the CBN to unfreeze all bank accounts that were blocked.
No body everyone get the financial strength to sue the CBN to unfreeze account, cause cases like this are rear cases so the only thing to do is to be very careful as to not  get yourself into such a critical situation like that. You know how judiciary works in Nigeria only the rich survive.

CBN is hot on crypto traders at the moment. They have moved their focus from abokifx to p2p traders. I don't know why the government prefers to destroy any form of productivity from the younger generation.

Although, some countries accept bitcoin and other decentralized currencies as legal but not as legal tender, only El Salvador accepts bitcoin as a legal tender, and not other cryptocurrencies (altcoins).

But inline with your comment, no Africa country legalize bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies as legal while not deemed illegal in some, especially in sub-sahara countries.

---snipped---
As CBN is totally against bitcoin and other decentralized currencies, there can be cases of such. Only what can by-pass this is P2P, but while the CBN can try to link people operating like companies and directly making crypto transactions. This can possibly happen.

Although, I have not seen how the news above is legit yet, but you can see a good example below:

ICYMI: Court unfreezes accounts blocked by CBN for cryptocurrency trading.

This made me doubt CBN will again do something similar (but there is nothing impossible as we know how the current government do not follow orders at times). But last month, the court has ordered the CBN to unfreeze all bank accounts that were blocked.

Some Nigerians are so irresponsible that the CBN keeps ringing the bell, warning that anyone caught trading crypto will be frozen, yet some irresponsible people can't even hide their tracks, despite the fact that millions of Nigerians do P2P every day but na the one wey no sabi road dey enter trap.

See Igehhh me I no understand d government parol about dis cryptocurrency and ban stuff becos dem neva com out like peple wey serious about am. Which one wey be say television stations still dey talk & analyse cryptocurrency & even bring person come talk about am. I surprise self wey NTA one day come dey bring the talk of bitcoin price for there business news.

Apart from television, individuals now dey run business seminars for radio to invite people to come dis or dat place for the seminar, dem go roll out phone numbers wey people go take send message like YES to indicate interest or reserve seat. Abi na only me dey listen to radio wey these things dey happen ? Me I see the crypto ban with bank account number as a means to freeze the accounts dat money were pushed out from during the #endsars thing, otherwise why radio television and individuals still dey publicly talk about am and nobody don go after them. Anyway sebi na so dem ban twitter and malami go dey use VPN. My brother (that's if u be bro because many things still dey happen everywhere  Grin), just like you I no dey discuss naija matter for long now.

Let us expect things to change if PDP are voted for, their was democracy in Nigeria when they were there, also that the economy we thought to have be damaged was never damaged like when the APC are there now. We are having primitive leaders that do not conduct research but make false accusations about bitcoin and other decentralized currencies because of eNaira.
The thing be say I no want to dey talk about Nigeria politics I've avoided discussing it for a long time, but there's one thing you should know: whether PDP or APC, bitcoin or cryocurrencies are not legal tender in any African country. Although other countries' prohibitions may not be as severe as Nigeria's, but they do exist.
