I pretty much assumed that I couldn't reply most places was due to my newbie status but I couldn't find the information which took me out of this status.

I guess this is what I get for lurking for weeks and not creating an account.

Ultimately, the posting restriction is a good idea.  It at least attempts to keep things pleasant.

There are a lot of places around the internet created for trolling, and this one is clearly not one of them.

Bitcoin is serious, and useful. That's why I would like to give this a try.

Damn. I was wondering why I couldn't reply to the "BTC Symbol" thread. God I want to smack Luke-Jr... in a nice way.

It was a bit confusing making my account, because the only indication that I'm not able to post anywhere except here was the description of this board. (I made an account because I wanted to leave feedback on another thread, but now I have to dick around for a while and B.S. 5 posts about whatever before I can do that.)

This kind of system is annoying to people who don't necessarily want to invest themselves in becoming regular users, and visit various forums for specific one-off purposes. If I became a regular user of every forum I have ever visited for some reason or another, I would have thousands of accounts, no job, and also be dead. This is an absurd and irritating and generally terrible solution to a problem you seem to think is somehow unique. (Oh no we're getting trolled on the Internet block everything.) …

I have said the same repeatedly some time ago. These rules make sure that the forums have lots of users who haven't gotten a life yet.

Also, these rules are entirely unnecessary, because there are better ways to achieve at least the same result.

But it serves little purpose to say anything like this, because the people who run a forum are gods, and you don't argue with gods.

This is worse than sitting and watching grass grow Smiley

For a platform that is based on elegant complexity such as bitcoin, one would expect the board administrators to come up with a better Turing-type test for those with IQs higher than room temperature.

I sense that this solution was put together more out of frustration than from rational thought processes.

Ignore previous post.
Cleared browser cache and cookies and started again so can now logout O.K.
Also I think the restrictions are a good idea, makes you explore the site. Just a bit confusing if you are a new user to forums in general but I can accept that.
