I'm very interested in analysis techniques which track transactions and attempt to identify the person behind the coins. I want to understand this not to remove anonymity but to improve it.

I don't think there are any direct ways to identify the owner of a wallet, but there may be many circumspect, statistical ways. For example, if you know that a certain person has received a certain amount, you could scan the blockchain for exactly that amount. If you can do that several times, the likelihood of error can be driven way down.
Of course there are defense mechanisms against this. The sender could split up payments and distribute them over several wallets, for example.
The higher the post count, the more superior the forum member is.

This 5-post-rule seems a bit weird.. It would seem that it encourages people to spam/troll in the newbies section, posting useless stuff. Like I'm doing now... But so be it.

Yes the restrictions are necessary
