Hello,

I've been lurking for a while and would like to start participating.

I've posted another message, but I can still not PM.
Are there requirements on the first post ?

It's good that there are restrictions but if i have to post 5x to be released from the restrictions and i can only post here i'm going to have to make 5 posts here. I'll spread them out timewise. Hopefully nobody actually reads this thread. I apologize in advance if my upcoming 5 messages irritate anyone.

Will there be some message stating if a PM can't be sent?  I sent a couple out as a recently joined member (one post made not long prior to the PM), and I want to know if they got my message.  Thanks!

If you are unable to send PMs it will say so. It should have gone through, you should change your Private Message options to save all outgoing PMs to avoid this in the future.

The requirements sound very reasonable, the four hour limitation should stop people from randomly trolling however the requirements will not put an end to well planned trolling, however this is an unfortunate fact of the Internet and trolls that have no life will generally go as far out of thier way to troll as is needed. But here's an idea, perhaps make people donate a satoshi to get into the forums? That would demonstrate an ability to use bitcoin, although setting up that system may be tedious.. Never mind the way you have it is good too.

wow  is it only quotes you can reply too?

Glad to follow the newbie rules put in place and it's a good way to weed out the trolls.

Five posts is NOTHING! At first I was confused as to why I couldn't post, then I stumbled in here. I like the idea, in fact I think more forums should do this kinda thing.

One thing that I really liked about this forum from the start was the Newbie board. I didn't lurk at all, I just jumped right in because I felt comfortable asking questions on "the board that nobody cares about." Newbies helping newbies figure things out is a beautiful chaos.

There is no such thing as a dumb question on the Newbie board!

For me the real problem is writing in a language that I know very little. I hope not to make too many orthographical and/or syntactic errors in my future messages on this board.

5 more minutes! Yeah, i have found that as a newb... it doesn't pay to read long winded posts or pages with lots of info as you will get substantially less than the time you actually spend on them. Just flip threw and skim pages every couple o' minutes if you wanna pump out your 4 hours.

My understanding is that the timer only increments if the time you spend on each page is within a certain range. For instance, I can't simply leave an inactive page open overnight and have it log several hours; but during active reading where I change pages every few minutes, it counts.

The timer under your stats doesn't update continuously or it would put unnecessary strain on the server, but it is still being tracked.

Updating is truly variable and I was curious whether if I had to constantly visit pages in order to make the time count, thanks for the reply though.
