Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have spent 4 hours online and have made 5 posts.

If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting in the appropriate topic.

Also:
- You must have made one post in order to send PMs.
- You need 10 posts to put a link in your signature.

Note that it may take up to 10 minutes for your PM or posting permissions to be granted.

seems like tough place here ;-)

i think whitelisting should be more strict, why don't you people do like on bitmarket.eu? they ask credentials from ebay, bitcoin-otc, etc
Because this is first-and-foremost a discussion board, not a trading hub.

Does 5 posts mean 5 new threads, or just 5 replies within any thread?

Either.
To clarify, it means that the combined amount of new threads and replies to threads is 5 or more.

Well then it's a good thing the process is automated then, now is it?

Good thing, too. Reading my drivel induces seizures in pet rocks.  Wink

I never saw anything about posting restrictions.

You didn't read the introductory text on the registration page, then (which you selected "I agree" to). It's right at the top:

Here is some important information about the forum. This is not a rulebook or agreement.

RESTRICTIONS FOR NEW MEMBERS

After registering, you will be unable to post in any section except "newbies" until you have spent some time on the forum and have published a few posts.

Wow, I was about to rip my hair out trying to find the post button. I was thinking there could be a confirm email coming and it was just taking forever. I bet you lose 1 in 5 new people to this, I was about 10 seconds from leaving and not coming back. I never saw anything about posting restrictions.

Moderators are taking a coffee break? Could be they are throwing another GPU on their miners to counteract the looking increase in difficulty.

Or maybe they decided to stop checking noob post counts for a while to jerk our chains a little bit(coin).  Tongue
