This seems like a reasonable policy to me... Thanks!

Good to see there are some rules in place here, but personally I find the 50 post limit for the images a bit overkill.
I guess most 'new' users will be proud of their hash rates in 'their' pool and would like to show off with a nice image (like me)  Wink

Adding an image allows you to "force" readers to request a remote document, which can be used in various attacks. It could have been used with the MtGox CSRF attack, for example. Hopefully people with 50+ posts will not attempt this, though even this number may be too low.

I've been thinking that maybe images should be totally prohibited everywhere.

Great idea. This will probably reduce the spam.

solid ideas, too bad i have been subject to these, despite being the oldest member of the forum, and a loyal supporter of the bitcoin idea since the start.

But then again, this is probably more about bandwith then just newbies...

Is it possible to use a system like Akismet instead of imposing these restrictions on new users?  You are probably turning people away who would be interested in engaging with the community because of these restrictions.

Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have spent 4 hours online and have made 5 posts.

If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting in the appropriate topic.

Also:
- You must have made one post in order to send PMs.
- You need 10 posts to put a link in your signature.
- You need 50 posts to put an image in your signature.

Thanks for establishing some criteria (however annoying it is for us real users).
