That is unfortunate. I hope TryNinja will find a way to insert an exclusion list that can allow you to filter out the IDs of the threads you don't want to have displayed in the search results. I am sure it's not an easy thing to do, but would be incredible useful.
Include/exclude several authors, topics, boards... All of that was coming with the new version of the website, but I got caught with another more important project. Tongue

Right now there isn't much I can do with my limited time, unfortunately. Sad

I don't know if I want to expect you to dedicate your time to a more important forum-related project, or some "Real life" more important project Wink
I think the latter would be healthier for everyone.
But I have a merit band on my wrists sending vibrations every time I get notified or I get merit, so my wish is suspicious, to say the least...

Farewell, Leo. You will be missed!
Let's say a topic title is "bitcoin" and I don't want posts made on it to be shown in the search result. I add -"bitcoin" to the topic title field. This makes all other topics that the post title includes the word "bitcoin" not be shown.

Now, whether or not such a modified search affects the other shown results, by excluding certain words or phrases, I couldn't tell.
It does. That's why I said that this method is not 100% accurate.

If you want the search to not show posts made on a specific thread, add -"The topic title" to the post title field.
This is not 100% accurate, but it may help you.
I just tried it and does indeed seem to work. The good thing about it is that you can add multiple topic titles in the 'Post Title' field and it won't display them in the results at all. Now, whether or not such a modified search affects the other shown results, by excluding certain words or phrases, I couldn't tell. TryNinja knows more maybe. @TryNinja?

How cool would it be if it was possible to omit a thread from being displayed in the results. Maybe it could be done by entering the topic title or thread ID. Do you think that is something you could do?

Note that - sign is used for excluding any word or a phrase from the results and " sign is used for searching for exact phrases.

Farewell, Leo. You will be missed!
I am using Ninjastic.space right now to find certain threads and something occurred to me. I am not sure if this was asked before, but I don't feel like going through 15 pages of posts just to check.

While doing the search, the site keeps displaying results from one and the same thread. How cool would it be if it was possible to omit a thread from being displayed in the results. Maybe it could be done by entering the topic title or thread ID. Do you think that is something you could do?

Follow-up request: when I search for Post Content, it shows up in the URL bar (so I can post the link on the forum). But when I search the Post Title, only the board shows up in the URL. Can you add that too?
Right, just added it. Cheesy

If you want the search to only bring the posts that title doesn't include "Re", you can do it yourself.
Just add -Re to the post title field.
Thanks, totally forgot about this. That will be the best solution for now since my coding setup is all messed up and I'm also lacking the free time. Tongue

I'll add the tooltip indicating you can do all of this.

That would probably be the simplest solution. TryNinja, you could simply add an option to the search parameters to exclude all topic titles from the results that start with 'Re:'.
If you want the search to only bring the posts that titles doesn't contain "Re", you can do it yourself.
Just add -Re to the post title field.

For example, in the image below I am searching for the posts that contain the word "bitcoin" and the title doesn't include Re.

Off course, it's not accurate to say every post that the title doesn't include "Re" is the first post of a thread. Users can edit the title and remove "Re" when making a reply.

This is an example of a search I was thinking about, but I made the mistake of putting a space after the '-' sign, so it didn't work the first time I tried it. Thanks for helping me to catch my blunder.

It seems to work now. @logfiles, I believe that's what you're looking for.

@TryNinja, ignore my previous comment. Maybe you should add an info icon next to "Post Title" to let people know that the advanced search works there as well.  Wink

The main post/topic (OP), you mean? That's not easy with the way I structured my database since I don't know which posts are the OP. Tongue
Yeah, but it's OK if it's not possible or too complex  Wink

We can work with the current set up too.

Maybe I can try adding an option to return only the first post of every topic, so it only returns the starter. I don't have much time to do that rn, though.
I also noticed that OP subject titles don't have  a "RE:" on them when I was sorting the results. Maybe that could help.

It could result in a few false positives or false negatives, but I think it would be a workable solution.

Alternatively, you could add advanced search operators like those for 'Post Content'.

The idea is to have only results from the opening posts, like the forum does, so that one can have an overview of only OP subjects with a key word like "Elon" while the replies using the same subject are filtered out.
The main post/topic (OP), you mean? That's not easy with the way I structured my database since I don't know which posts are the OP. Tongue
That's easy: from all the posts with the same topicID, the post with the lowest msgID is the OP.
I'm not sure if I'm stating the obvious here.

It's done, you can now search by post title. Smiley
Follow-up request: when I search for Post Content, it shows up in the URL bar (so I can post the link on the forum). But when I search the Post Title, only the board shows up in the URL. Can you add that too?
When I searched for "Lightning" in the topic title in Meta, I ran into the same problem as logfiles above: I only want to see the first post (to see how many topics it involves), but got 75 results instead.

Would it be ok to add an advanced Option to search for a Key word only in Topic subjects under search parameters?
It's done, you can now search by post title. Smiley

Hard reload with Ctrl + F5 if you don't see the option.
Nice work TryNinja  Smiley

Now there's a slight problem. Since members in most cases reply using the same topic subject, All the replies having the same topic subject come up in the search results like this;

I don't know much about how you guy do it but if it consumes too much time or resources, you can skip the feature  Wink

Not sure if anyone else is having connection issues, but I can't connect to https://ninjastic.space/ for about the last four hours.
My server went down for a few hours, sorry about that.

Looks like domain is going to expiry at the end of this month and maybe we can donate if needed.
Thanks for the heads-up, I just renewed it. Cheesy

I can confirm that Ninjastic website is currently not loading for me also, so maybe TryNinja have some problem with servers or he was the victim of notorious cyber attackers. Smiley

Hey thanks for the confirmation - I've been unable to reach https://www.coinplaza.it/ in the last few minutes and was beginning to think it was at my end.
