I'm reluctant releasing just this info. so far considering our history with PoS. High PoS (of which we were meant to be a member of) reputation is in shambles after the last few months. I'm thinking 10%-15%. I just want standard and attractive 'normal'/'safe'/middle-ground variables and go from there. I'm sure discussions and demands for forks will follow for next year but lets just get a new wallet and PoS resolved.
10%-15% is a great range , beats most things in the physical world hands down.
IMO the lowest a POS rate could go is 5%, anything below that and you are better off with utility stocks that pay out ~5%.
Depending on how many days you set to hold the coin before it receives a POS reward, some people that do more trading , usually will not keep the coins long enough to gain the interest, so whatever rates you do decide on, your actual rate for the year will always be a little lower.
P.S.
Glad it worked out for You & PalmDetroit.
Hello to the noble community and "thank you" to the genius who dumped on bittrex today to 6sat, giving me finally the opportunity to buy significant amounts below 10sat, which I was trying since 4 weeks now (I had already given up hope and started buying higher).
I wouldnt call any POS rate an "interest rate" and I would never buy a coin based on the rate, as contrarily to the "real" world, POS rates are simply chosen but are not based on any economics. Most coins arent even around after a year and 20% "interest" doesnt mean anything if the market cant absorb the minted coins and the price plummets. In a couple of years I would like to see the POS rates linked to the coin's economy (I dont mean that vrc thingy), but right now the most important thing is to give people an incentive to stake their coins and secure the network. Some will disagree, but I think the rate shouldnt be lower than 5%. I never bother to open my bc wallet, the POS rate is 1%. Something like 8-10% sounds about right.
About min coin age I prefer a lower one. If it is too high, people like me will never stake their coins as I am constantly trading, but moving my coins to my wallets whenever I can. The benefit from trading will almost always outweigh the benfit from staking (at least we like to think that), so with a higher min coin age you wont get more people to stake. I am sure rofo knows much more about that.
On other news, very good day for noxt on polo, seems like fomo has finally arrived. The ICO was a success already. Sure if you compare it to the amount bitbay raised or some other ICOs it may look smaller, but if you substract the amount of coins the devs have bought for free themselves or even given to scammy pumpers like bobsurplus, it looks pretty good (assuming that is not the case here).
To chime in on the comedy news: The bobsurplus is a good one, I read it earlier. The other one for this week is, that our beloved troll barabbas' (you all know him?) is an aging mexican actor called Jose de Vega.
