I don't think you can be called a bad gambler if you don't record your losses and wins here.
If it's just entertainment for you, you don't need to record it. I also don't record my gambling losses and wins because for me I don't need to record them because I'm not good at gambling either and I can only see the money I lose growing. If you enjoy it and control yourself when it comes to gambling, I don't think there is a problem. I think that's only for serious gamblers and professionals who keep track of their winnings and losses so they know if what they've been doing lately is good.

Not keeping records doesn't necessarily mean that you are a bad gambler. Sometimes players are too busy to have one and just mentally note their winnings and losses as well as the money they have spend in gambling in totality. Although for sure there are still people who are keeping tracks of their gambling habits which is good for them especially if it works significantly better on their end. But it doesn't mean you should do too. It still depends on you after all.
I'd never done it actually and I don't think it helps us to be good gamblers or turn into bad gamblers as well. The more I saw my gambling records, the more possible I was disappointed. I'd rather not do it for the sake that I don't remember in the past days.

But a piece of advice, if you don't want or you can't seem to keep records because of extra work it will give to you, just make sure you allocate a specific amount that won't break your budget and your priorities in life. Only allocating your spare and not going overboard your budget will be as good as keeping records because that means you are only spending what you can afford to lose without regretting so much in the end if it doesn't go well.
Good advice mate...it is very important we know how to budget not just our money but also our time because the more we spend time on this, the more we spend money which could possibly be out of our budget.
Well, the question is are we just playing to entertain ourselves or just to make money? Because if we aim for the fist option, then I don't think it is necessary to have a records.

Good day crypto Famz, I will like to ask gamblers this question, is there any gamblers on here that keeps record of their wins and losses? Do you keep a record of all the pennies you use to gamble and also the result?
In the past I do keeping records to know my financial expenses , but overtime since I know how limit my self? I stopped tracking my gambling money but I made sure that my budget will be keep and yes that is the amount I keep spending.

Someone whom we both have this discuss yesterday said this is a good practice, I still don't see a reason why because I don't keep record of my losses, I tend to only remember when I win a certain amount, if its good enough you won't easily forget, but apart from this I don't care.
actually this shows how responsible the person is and how that person knows how to balance and limit his fundings that is why he said this is a best practice.

So Famz, is there any benefits when one keeps record on their losses and wins? Is there any thing to gain when you write down all the money you spent in gambling and also how much you have made so far?

Not keeping records, does this make me a bad gambler?
nope this will never make you a Bad gambler but when you turn to be addicted , then that is completely the bad gambler.

This makes sense. It wont hurt if a gambler try to start kerping their records, right? It's not a big deal, really. Give it a shot for a month or even longer and then decide if it's worth continuing. I did it with my transactions and it actually helped me stay organized. But hey if you believe you've got your limits under control and don't need it, that's totally fine. Keeping records doesn't define whether you're a good or bad gambler. For irresponsible gamblers, not keeping track can lead to problems. So, it's just a simple tool to help you stay on top of things so you can know yourself better on how you manage. No pressure, just a suggestion to make things a bit smoother for you Smiley

Depending on where you are gambling its good to keep records for tax purposes.  In terms of tracking for the sake of seeing your wins and losses it's also a good practice to see where you are losing all your money.  There might be a sport you continually lose or win but don't realize it because you don't track.  If you don't gamble all that much it might not be worth it.

Personally, I will keep track of my money being deposited in the gambling site and the money which I withdraw from the gambling site. The difference between the two can determine if I am in an overall winning position or at the losing end.
Getting your records of winning or losing from the gambling site does not make it look so serious to take any action about your gambling habit because anytime you visit the site you you will either booked bet or you check your bet whether winning or losing. I think write it down yourself when make you take fast decision.
I don't see keeping record has bad idea, this will help in managing your finance during gambling, taking record will also control you and whether you should continue or quite. To my own understanding keeping record is good, it minimise your risk in time of losing everything.

I never keep any records regarding gambling activities, the money I have spent is no longer mine and I am very aware of this when I start playing. The winning factor is luck, I will use the money to play in the future and buy the things I need. Keeping track of how much money has been spent and how much money has been won is very uncomfortable for me, any money I use to gamble is ready to be lost and the winnings are just a bonus that the casino gives me.
Everyone has their own opinion on either to keep the record or live it, we always find money to spend it, also any money we lose is also spent but we always lose money to get something back to replace that money. I understand you by saying taking record of what you spend make you uncomfortable, gambling is very dangerous it have many way of attracting gamblers the issue of taking records or not is to guide us when we gamble, the issue of not taking records affected my friend anytime he went out to gamble he always collect money from me because am the one keeping is money, so he will collect and gamble with it so any time he win he always bring back the money he collected and flex the gain he make and when he losses the money, it is out from the savings, later he came for the money I said no money it has finished then since then he said I should be taking record of every piny he collected.

Yes, its true on which it would really be that according in someones preference on which there would really be those people who do really likes on tracking up everything even if we do say that gambling is really just that for leisure and spending up on the money which you had put or deposited isnt something that needs to be tracked since its really just that your extra but there are ones who are really that mindful about tracing it up and sees whether they are already that spending that much money or not with gambling. In my case, then im not really making some tally or trying to keep records because not only just that i dont really care on the amount spend,
it is really just that i dont like on what are the numbers that been showing and on the  time that you are seeing that significant amount then this is where it might be disrupting your mind and emotion on which it would really be causing some future problem towards yourself on the time that you do really get that impulsive.

Not keeping records doesnt really make you a bad gambler, bad thing would really be only on the time that people would really be having that out of control behavior towards their gambling activity.
This is why it is really that important that you should really be having that control and discipline towards your spending if you dont really like on making yourself that being too mindful
about your spending since you have already allocated a fund which it is really just that supposed to be used on gambling thing.

I think it will not make you bad gambler indeed. But keeping records is never a bad idea. You can always statistically measure your winning rate, winning odds and amounts so it can help your future bets. Obviously statistics are never the best thing ever in gambling as standards always differ from match to match or individual to individual. But it can at least help with your losses, your gambling habits may change accordingly so you would bet less money after certain threshold because its into "losing range".

I think you are right, keeping records helps to measure between your win and your loses as these will aid you to know if you're making a headway or not and it is also going to guide you on gambling because in an instance where you find out that your losses are higher than you winning it will now help you to take a decision either to continue despite your numerous loses or quit gambling.

In a case of so much lose tickets it will also help you to start losing interest gradually and not to be too forward on gambling as it will help you not to become addicted since you ain't making meaningful benefits from it

Yes, what you are doing is correct, there is no need to record it, because recording all the history of the money that has been spent on gambling will not help anything and make everything look worse, that's why it is better to gamble using money that is ready to be lost, not gambling using money that is used for living necessities so felt very regretful about it later after experiencing defeat and losing money, OP said it looked much worse because he didn't record it even though it wasn't at all.

Gamblers must know when to gamble and when to stop gambling so they can control their money in the right way, just focus on limiting the budget because that is much more important to prevent becoming addicted, because people tend to experience defeat and frustration. by gambling without limits it will easily become an addiction, so there is no need to record it because it is not very important and will only waste time.  Wink

If you want to quit gambling slowly just start keeping records, do you know why all the gambling responsible strategies works?/its because we don't keep records, apart from using what you can afford to lose every time you gamble, the day you do back and check your record is when you will start quitting slowly.

Even if you are using a $10 for gambling, you will still not feel good after looking into your record, you will always remember that gambling is not for you lol, your losses might be bigger than your wins, this is the harsh truth for all gamblers.

It's part of the rules to never chase your losses, isn't it? Keeping record could make you want to, it can turn to the reason for you to start chasing your losses if you are not strong, this is why I don't think that keeping records is good. Every penny we spend on gambling is still money, if that is invested into Bitcoin it will turn to something someday.

       -  I agree with what you said, mate. Then we also know that it has never happened that we always win; we play gambling often;
rather, we rarely win often every time we gamble, right?

In addition to that, I also think that there is no need to make a record if every time you play gambling, you are always limited to playing gambling for only 10 dollars. It is easy to calculate that if you regularly play 2 or 3 times a week, you gamble. This is just an example I am talking about.

It could make us frustrated when we see the note. With a clear difference between the wins and losses we get, we can become sad and there may be a desire to try to recover the losses.

And it is true that winning is based on luck. If we are unlucky, we obviously will not be able to win, which means we will experience losses. And if we record it in that note, we will see that we have lost a lot.

But wise gamblers will try to reduce the number of losses. They don't want to experience more losses so they will continue limiting their money use.

Not keeping records, does this make me a bad gambler?

The whole industry of gambling thrives on this. A gambler will lose a few times and win a few times. They will usually lose more money than they win, but when they win they will talk about it with everyone. When they lose, they will keep it to themselves.

That is basically what the casinos want, free advertisement for them, and basically selling this view that you could earn a lot of money, when in reality only the casinos will make the big bucks and most gamblers will lose it all.

So, yeah, the most common thing to do for a gambler is to forget their losses and only share their wins. It doesn't make them a bad gambler, they are just a normal gambler.

The only thing that will happen is that the gambler might have the wrong impression, and they might think they have won more than what they really have because they are ignoring losses.

It doesn’t make you the bad gambler, but it will not allow you to make the good way of spending money in gambling. Not only in spending money on gambling,it’s better keep the record of all the spending per weekly or monthly basis to calculate the weekly or monthly expenses. If you maintain the record of the losses in the gambling, one day you may win the big amount in the gambling. So you can calculate the exact win or loss at the time of the big win in the gambling. The gambler should keep the entire record of the loss,So it will trigger you to make the big win by targeting your loss in the following gambling game in future.

I believe that not keeping records does make you a bad gambler, but not necessarily at gambling, but at recording your gains and losses for tax recording purposes. That could land you in some hot water with the law and I can assure you that they would consider you a bad gambler for not having the necessary information they need to verify your taxes.
Once you declare this for sure the government will look for other details and they will ask for other documents that supports your claim, better to think again if you are going to declare your gambling activities. Not recording your activities doesn’t make you a bad person though and in my country there is no need for this not unless you really want to monitor everything then you can have it, just have your own format to easily understand it.

I don't keep records as well because it doesn't make sense for me. Whatever is spent on gambling for me, should be forgotten forever. We're not bad gamblers, and that doesn't mean we're not responsible as well.
Keeping records could make me think if I were a bad person. I will see how much money I've spent for gambling, after few years I realize if such money could be used to buy motorcycle, car etc. While not keeping records will make me think it's okay to lose $100/month because I've make more than that.
I know that feeling, it's the regret when you see those records on how much was spent on gambling and you should have spent it somewhere else that you can see that tangible thing like those that you've mentioned.

There's really the difference about keeping records and the perspective that you've got in your mind. If it's okay for you to keep records, that's fine because that makes you feel satisfied and able to track your gains and losses.

But if you think that it's making you a bad person for thinking how much you've spent and lost then you better do what you think is right for you. Because it is you that's experiencing that and not other people.

Not keeping records, does this make me a bad gambler?

The gambling site where you gamble contains all your history of the games played and your wins and losses too are recorded there. So I don't think that we need to keep track of all our wins and losses separately. Also since we play many games, it is not possible to keep a trace of each game and write it down as we win or lose it.

Personally, I will keep track of my money being deposited in the gambling site and the money which I withdraw from the gambling site. The difference between the two can determine if I am in an overall winning position or at the losing end.

If you are playing a game in which your luck is the only thing that matters then I do not think it is important to keep records at all, so as long as you keep track of the amount of money you have spent that is fine, but this has nothing to do with gambling and should just be part of your regular activities when making a budget, however if you are playing a game of skill then it is important to keep track of your wins and losses, because this is the only way you can evaluate your performance and make adjustments based on it.
