Value will be measured in sats
OK tested with this new little Eyeboot 2 port usb hub extender/splitter (only $14.99 usd from Amazon with free shipping);

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07281L7QC

It comes with 5V 2 amp power supply so has everything you need out of the box.

First I tested it on 100 mhz and got a speed of 11.14 GH and a power draw of 1.1 amps

However I did my own test on the hub and found the max power draw (per port) possible is 1.5 amps (see pic below)

So I decided it was safe to overclock the miners. Here are the final results;

At 150 mhz we get a speed of 16.41 GH

At 175 mhz we get a speed of 19.51 GH

At 200 mhz we get a speed of 21 GH

Pros: it is cheap and cheerful. can boost the power of any usb port it is used with. includes 3A 5V power supply
Cons: shape means it can only run 1 usb stick. power draw is limited to 1.5 amps.

10 running on Sipolar 175MHz

I've been running four of the 2Pacs @ 150MHz on this Sipolar hub (https://www.amazon.com/Sipolar-USB2-0-Bitcoin-Indicator-Powered/dp/B01K4LYX7U) with no issues.  I haven't spent a ton of time fine tuning them but my initial attempts to run them at 200MHz didn't work, seems like the draw is too much for the individual ports.  I haven't tried each stick one by one in each port but I will post an update when I do.

Hi Guys, How about this Orico Usb3.0 60w  5A Usb Hub with 13 ports?
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/ORICO-60W-12-Ports-USB-3-0-Hub-including-3-BC1-2-Charging-Port-and-4/32774929010.html

I´m planing to connect 3 sticks(2 pac BM1384) and a USB Fan.

Also for me, living in Brazil, it´s easier to buy in aliexpress than amazon (they don´t ship to Brasil most of products)

I have that exact hub, and am having all kinds of stability problems (miners won't run for more than six hours without going zombie). See the main 2pac support thread for details. Don't know if it is related to the hub, but if I were starting over again, I would be looking at something else.

I Think this usually means that in sometime there was not enough power to run them, so they  went zombies. Try lowering frequency in 10 or 20 mhz, and lower just a little bit the VCore, and see what´s happen.

Actually you made me think that in my house, I have a really unstable power source, it usually loose power in a flash moment, these kind of thing would make the sticks goes into zombie mode!

USB 3.0 is sketchy with the Compac and 2Pac sticks, so try sticking to USB 2.0 hubs. I did some looking around on the aliexpress site and came up with this one:
https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/LVSUN-120W-5V-24A-10-Port-USB-Charger-HUB-USB-3-0-Chipset-with-Data-Transfer/32640377816.html

You can put the two 2Pac miners in the 2.4A USB Hub ports (there are four total data ports) and you can plug the fan into one of the other non-data ports.

It's not cheap, but then his current ports that also pass data are kind of odd and are scarce.

Cheers,

Hum it´s nice, I havn't found this brand before, seems pretty good.
But for the price range, I think the Orico 20 Ports 300 Watts it´s a best deal: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/ORICO-30-Ports-Industrial-USB2-0-Hub-for-TF-SD-U-disk-Data-Test-Batch-Copy/32812709736.html

Only .5A a port is pretty bad, to my experience I have run these miners just fine on 3.0 hubs. They cost a little more than 2.0 hubs but they're necessary for real OCing. As for the brand, ORICO is a decently good manufacturer of hubs. Never had issues with them, just always make sure to check amps per port.

I Was Wondering, a 10 Ports hub like this: http://www.orico.cc/goods.php?id=6225
With a 12V3A power, this mean a 36Watts, How this Watts are distributted to ports?

36Watts means 7.2A in a 5V, but are each port limited to an Amperage? or if you connect 3 ports only, those Amperes will be splited into these 3 ports?

It'd probably work, amps per port is decent if you can connect devices through the yellow ones on the hub. As for a fan, although most people like the 1 dollar loud USB fans, I prefer the more expensive desk fans. Decent airflow and keeps the sticks happy.

1) Hi Guys, I have a shit HUB, powered with 3A (at least in specifications), when I plug my Gekko directly in notebook port, I can mine at 200 mhz fine, but when I plug into that Hub, it even don´t start to Mine. Can I throw it away?

2) Another question, is it preferable a 3.0 USB hub or a 2.0 USB Hub?
Why would you throw away perfectly good hub? I would just use it for other stuff. You should get a USB 2.0 hub. The results from USB 3.0 hubs are sketchy at best.

Anyone have one of these?

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/asicminer-block-erupter-49-port-usb-hub-with-usb-miners-321091

I have two and could part with one.  Bought them along with 100 block erupters years ago.  Mine are in good shape and have original boxes.

I have the eyeboot version  they are pretty good

For those trying to mine with 2Pac's and RPi's this 5V 4A hub from Amazon Basics is currently running two 2Pac's (not overclocked) through an RPi3.  Hub is USB 2.0 and is the only one I've had success with out of the 4 I own.  The ports on the front are higher current so it might even support a third stick but I only have 2 atm.

The sticks - indeed - would be cooled on their side which concerns me from the efficiency point of view. What do you guys think?
Once a fan is used the orientation of the heatsink is a moot point unless it is one very tiny low-flow fan. Keeping fins vertical only matters with convection cooling.

I do hope you have read my earlier posts about the power layout of the Plugable 7-port hub...

I did read it, and it helped. Thanks for the tips!

I think that laptop idea will not work well

  in his case  :

                __l___l__   >>  hub and sticks

               ------------- >> cooler

I think  the hub blocks air flow  to the sticks if he lays the hub on the fan and points sticks up wards

Almost, here is a simulation of what I have in mind.
At $8 I think I'll give it a shot and monitor the temps. If it works out then great, if not, I have 30 days to return the stand. Smiley

I'll keep you posted, my 3 x 2Pacs should arrive shortly.

Hi guys,

A little bit off-topic and probably silly question: do you think a laptop cooler would be okay to use as a solution for the 2Pacs?
I was thinking to sit the hub & sticks on this Deepcool N200 cooler, I'm assuming it would cool better than a normal USB fan.

Why do you not want to use what most people use?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003XN24GY/

I'm just brainstorming here, maybe we can come up with a more efficient, cheaper & better-looking cooling solution.
I can get my hands on the N200 cooling stand for approx. $8, same price as the Arctic but with (theoretical) better cooling performance.

- snip -

so lay hub on its side        I think it is not ideal  as I think  the air moved by the cooler will not flow fast due to small grill.  I found one on ebay  for  22 usd

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Deepcool-N200-USB-Cooling-Stand-Pad-cooler-mat-For-Laptop-Notebook-10-15-6-/151877092837?

seems to me this would work better  and it is 18 usd

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Holmes-10-inch-Personal-Size-Box-Fan-HABF120W-/142100873644?

better yet this one is 9.99

https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/comfort-zone-reg-4-inch-cradle-high-velocity-dual-powered-fan/3249300?

The hub I will be using is the Plugable USB 2.0 7-Port Hub, so actually it won't sit on it's side.
The sticks - indeed - would be cooled on their side which concerns me from the efficiency point of view. What do you guys think?

Thanks.
