Wow!

This CPU will be a powerful XMR miner.

Would this bigger 128GB RAM impact RandomX performance?

Post your buildup - this would be a monster XMR miner

It will  will be the most costly cpu I ever used.

But I did have a few 6 card 1080ti rigs that cost more to build
and a 16 card rig  that was more costly.

2000 cpu
  150 ssd
  450 mobo

2600    had some discounts so  2400

and of course all the other parts on hand.

Selling 2 xmr rigs to help fund it.

Ok finally makes sense. I kept getting the email alerts every few minutes on my phone about posts being deleted, it kept chiming and chiming and chiming. At first I assumed it was some April fools joke. And then I realised it was from posts back in 2016, why would anyone want to delete them.

Either way, I actually remember the above photo with your Radeon 7950 with a case fans zip tied. I think I was the one who told you to switch some resources and get back into GPU mining because ETH was becoming more profitable than BTC ASICs at the time. Its pretty crazy that it was 4 years ago. I remember that day like it was yesterday. I had a rig like that also. Basically a motherboard laying on top of its motherboard box with 1 GPU inside. Wasn't efficient at all however it didn't matter because only 20% or so was going to pay for power costs, was very profitable back then.

Phil, did you just delete one of your early threads?
I just got a BUNCH of "your post has been deleted by a self-moderated thread" emails this morning on some posts that looked mighty old.

yeah thread 1 is now gone.

i had 118 messages in my Inbox..... brings back memories..... esp in our discussion about how to get a RX480 to 30mhs with only 100 watts with a special BIOS.... LOL.... how did we survive without Claymore's ETH miner....

Seems a few of these Antminer E3 are showing up on eBay already. There are even many people bidding on them.

My GTX 1070 ti cards are STILL happy pushing 31 Mh at 106 watts.
I am now wishing I'd bought MORE of those....

SMOS-Linux -- 0/1400/112 can get 32.x Mhs

I suspect I could match that if I pushed my RAM and CPU harder, they're only at 1000 / 0 right now but I don't remember why I settled for those figures.
Perhaps not as stable at higher settings on one or more card at higher temps, or ZEC (which is what I did the heavy testing on back when) wasn't.

I think I paid $399 NEW for my Sapphire reference model Vega 56 a couple years back.
$180 seems reasonable.

I have 2 sapphire pulse two fan.

I have 2 msi air boost blower style.

free shipping to usa.

180 for any 1
350 for any 2
510 for any 3
650 for all   4

I would consider any reasonable offer for them.

which means a bit lower then above works.

Sold the 2 pluse/

Still have 2 msi blower style

Been out of the loop for the past couple of weeks due to the Covid19 issues and didn't have as much time to research regarding ProgPOW and E3 end of life date. So far from what I understand the ProgPOW was a go, then people went all over Reddit and Twitter complaining to the ETH devs and they decided to not do ProgPOW, then they had some conference call which was 50/50 and haven't heard anything since. So is ProgPOW a go or not? Anyone got any concrete details?

Also it seems like next week sometime the Antminer E3 will cease to be able to mine ETH anymore. Basically it will stop at the same DAG as it did with ETC. Wondering what will happen to the hashrate. Honestly with all that is going around I still think the hashrate is still pretty high and hardly changed from the peak in Feb 2020, basically proof that most people are mining ETH with free or very cheap electricity rates.
there was some bitching about progpow on twitter but progpow is still a go,imho eth is a mess and we will probably have more delays....

I am not really sure, but it does sound like that....

I read somewhere that they will be able to run at least until October 2020 but idk how valid that information is.

My AR-15 ID's itself as a toaster. Want breakfast?
the firmware didn't quite make sense to me....   they make it sound like "downloadmoreram.com".........

are they cutting corners somehow?

are they bridging the DAG's memory from multiple hash boards?

Oh my my... How unexpected  Shocked

They have already released a firmware on 17.03.2020. with this description:
"1. Extended the E3 miner life."

I haven't managed to sell my D8P setup...     I had requisitioned it for a transcoding/streaming machine to learn the ins and outs of OBS and different methods of re encoding without the machine lag and other issues....

But if this stimulus check is really a thing;  I will either do one of two things:

a) Buy video cards and re-populate the D8P to mine _insert best to mine here since i'm out of the loop on the mining side_
b) Turn it directly into BTC and continue to HODL.

I wish I had bought when it was at 4,xxx again... but i was mostly broke, and figured repairing my leaking roof is smarter than buying BTC...

See;  the rub with me is that I have never trusted ETH.

In my eyes: ETH is on the same "security" level as Adobe Flash... the fact we have ETC is proof of that.
I would need to have some seriously concrete reasoning to convince me to give it a shot for the first time myself.

I mean, I have set up miner software once or twice on ETH;  but I usually just did multipool stuff.   During '15ish, was making hand over fist on skien mining....  Im very partial to the nvidias, but am curious about possibly slapping together an amd rig with some beef but not too terribly big of a power draw...  but times are getting closer to having a much larger power allotment at home.  Luckily, its included with rent.... and... is extremely cheap via several different means...

Seems a few of these Antminer E3 are showing up on eBay already. There are even many people bidding on them.

The funny part is that the E3 wasn't much more efficient than a well-tuned GPU rig - and if you have GTX 1070ti cards it STILL isn't (gtx 1070 has lost efficiency, you either lose 10% hashrate running at 110- watts or you have to bump power up over 10% to get back to 30 - GTX 1070ti has not changed), while being less efficient than some newer-gen cards.

I am in the middle of rebuilding all of my rigs, for a few reasons.
1) I am taking posession of a new place tomorrow - in a county that does NOT have a "cryptocoin-specific" ripoff electric rate.
2) The county I am in now did NOT have an issue with Folding@Home (and by extension Curecoin), so I had swapped most of them over to Folding for the last year and change.
3) Folding income has collapsed, due to the massive influx of new folders due to COVID-19 OVERLOADING their ability to generate work units.

An interesting factoid showed up in the process.

My GTX 1070 cards (still have a bunch of them DESPITE ever Gigabyte Mini card DYING) now need at least 122 and more commonly 125-130 watts to achieve full hashrate (about 30 Mh) instead of the under-110 they used to use.
At 106 watts they're mostly around 27 Mh - not horrible, but a noticeable loss on efficiency.

My GTX 1070 ti cards are STILL happy pushing 31 Mh at 106 watts.
I am now wishing I'd bought MORE of those....

I am selling a new sealed evga 1600 p2  psu the listing is here.

Rather ship to usa

for me i'm HODLing my gears, anyone here is thinking that NCOV19 might disrupt computer parts supply and make them all expensive in the near future?

Given the huge surge in Folding@Home participants over the last couple weeks, it might have a SMALL effect.
But supply doesn't seem to be an issue yet - the growing widespread RECESSION looks likely to kill most demand for a while, as folks worry about "paying the rent" first.
