I think I paid $399 NEW for my Sapphire reference model Vega 56 a couple years back.
$180 seems reasonable.

Doing escrow in the crypto community I think is a very stressful job for very little profit. There is just way too many scams you need to worry about. I remember Ognasty had an issue once and he made it mandatory that if an escrow is cancelled, he will send the refund ONLY to the same BTC address as the source. I was always puzzled about that since some people send funds from an exchange and can always PM from their actual bitcointalk account to send to a different BTC address however there was a scheme that went on.

From what I remember it went like this.

Someone would post a fake sell ad which was generally a good deal like. "Antminer E3 for $50 ESCROW accepted". Someone would accept the deal and agree with escrow. They would fund the escrow with their money and then all of a sudden the seller cancels the order and the buyer sends a message to the escrow person to issue a refund, however the refund is a different BTC address. And what happens is that the buyers account is hacked during that time and he makes the escrow send money back to the hackers account.

his posts are old see below.

first no1 is deleting and we talk and reply and justify everything we said again that come to our discord and you can read the announcements and date also so we are fooling no one and not scamming anyone again , we told these are stock photos and not photos of team or member please read before allegation

You sir, are not fooling anyone reading this thread, as in this case admitting to running a scam before. Some simple research confirm contradiction and blatant outright avoidance in giving straight forward, to the point answers. Always talking around the facts in order to give it fake merit is not a good start to an already bad reputation.
Tytanick, please consider adding CryptoDredge https://github.com/technobyl/CryptoDredge/releases/tag/v0.7.0 as they just released a long awaited linux version.

I have a simple problem.
I have an unknown enemy most likely from bitcointalk.

My guess is it is a scammer I busted.
I was doxxed on this website

https://badbuyerlist.org/

They  gave my name
They gave my phone
They gave my address

They lied saying I am a bad ebay buyer.
They gave a nonexistent account name.
They did not give an item number.

The website will not remove any one so it is annoying to see the lie and to see my home address and phone posted.

I would love to catch the person that did it to me. But not easy to do.

I don't do much scam busting due to this.

The other day I was asked  about escrow by a new account via pm.

I gave the rules and the next day the post appeared here.

To me it means I am being threatened about doing escrows.

I offer to escrow on march 11:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.54011391

March  14  10:56:27 Pm  the escrow pm  from a newbie that registered in 2016 and made only 3 posts.
March  15 02:45:11 Pm  this crazy post from a guy that registered  in 2018  and had not posted in a long time.
So I know I am being harassed over escrows.

I have had a lot of attacks since escrowing a lot in 2017 and 2018
I kind of stopped doing escrows  due to the attacks.

I started some escrow work and boom  bs.

A lot of ways they do it .  50 new accounts asking for the rules you explain and they  don't do a deal.

you lose time talking or pm's sent  .

It was as much as 2 hours of pm's to answer and no business.

Then the doxxing.

I suspect one of the deals I did was a way to get some info on me to be able to dox me.

Oh well  scammers  are going to scam.

Nobody gives a shit about your short term money laundering scheme, sell for what you want, don't impose. simple as that.
In the mean time, where is the competitors to Grin.. I see daily flops of mostly Europeans making utterly stupid public statements about their coin being used to buy daily objects, including icecream.. I mean, What The Fuck people.. no coherent absolute sane business person will invest to your stupid idea of god-damned ice-cream for your kid everyday if there is no DECENT incentive for them.. if you do not understand the absolute basics of business I would suggest, as a non-negative inclination to the braniacs out there, DONT SUGGEST OR TALK ABOUT THINGS YOU HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH OR HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT. No offense but at least, simple as that. Yes, simple the fuck as that. Idiots...

I quoted this as it is interesting to say the least.

I also deleted it.

Maybe its some type of bot that posted that. Or someone who just used Google translate because I honestly have no idea what he is talking about. I read it 3 times. I know its written in English but I can't understand anything he is trying to say. Maybe someone building up posts and they just plagarised someone else's post somewhere else on the internet. Basically just kept it long to make it legit.

Don't take it personally. I've been attacked before on the internet by trolls and sometimes it makes me upset too. If you didn't delete his post I would search his other posts and see what else he posts but I can't find access to his user info page.

I already did search him before Phil deleted the post. It seems that he hasn't been active since 2018 and then 2 random posts in ANNO and here. Possibly hacked account.

Anyone catch the ETH dev call today? If so can you summarize the conclusion because I still don't understand whether ProgPOW is a go or not. Seems that people were for and against it and now I don't know where we stand.

Either way. Apparently the Antminer E3 accounts for around 40% of the total ETH hashrate. There was a nonce fingerprinting done similar to what was done with XMR old algo and it turns out that 40% is from the certain ASIC. It was released by BitsbeTrippin and you can find it on their twitter. So in about a month or so around 40% of the hashrate is going to disappear.

This is why I never trusted ETH  most likely they won't go to ProgPOW they really don't care about miners much.

At least we will get a boost when the asics die off.  I do think those machines could be tweaked to have more ram.

I wonder if someone (Bitmain) has a lot of higher memory machines in hand mining in the background.

They reach out to ETH dev and poof no algo switch.

This would mean that 40% hashrate drop will be 30%  as bitmain had 1 in 4 machine on the network and they have jack up memory.

Which is why they made sure to build the units with ddr2 not ddr3 ram. The 3 of 4 units out in the wild won't find much ddr2 to upgrade with.

From the disassembly videos that I saw posted on Youtube, the ram seems to be soldered into the hash board. This is the video I am looking at,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ew6mL5BjpdI

Also I made a mistake earlier, according to the video the RAM chips are actually DDR3 and not DDR2. Looks like they just bought the actual memory chips and not the actual memory module that most computer use. So I don't think its possible to add more memory. It would take forever to desolder every single ram chip and replace with a higher capacity. Also it would need to be reprogramed, most likely won't be plug and play.

you could swap the chips and update the SPD to change the ram amounts..... that is if the memory controller can handle the larger amount. >)

Yes its possible to swap the chips but have you ever done some surface mount desolering and soldering? I did it a few times when fixing an iPhone and it was a pain in the ass. You need to apply the right amount of heat, if you apply too little heat you risk ripping out a solder joint on the PCB, you apply too much heat you can damage neighbouring parts.

Also look at the amount of memory chips on the ASIC, it would take probably days to get it done. And after you swap the chips you have no gaurantee that it will be plug and play. You might have to play with the memory controller and then with the firmware. I don't think anyone will be swapping the chips.

Other then the ones built for bitmain by bitmain  which likely do exist  and would have been built with 2x the ram.

So if there are 30,000 doa machines   bitmain may have 10,000 that will work and are working right now..

Proof of this will be if the switch to progpow never happens.

I'm sure that Coronavirus will affect hardware parts for all over the world
Here in Brazil we are already suffering because USD is rising and our local currency is worthing less in relation of USD, and within a few weeks we're going to have serious problems

I watched a live on youtube of the person who are responsible to do the RMA of Galax here in Brazil, and they are having a lot of problems because GPUs are not arriving here and there's already a lack of products to RMA and very soon new products will not arrive
