I tried to resist but...

VOTE NXT ! Cheesy   : https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/whats-your-favorite-xem-or-nxt-1035014

Taunsew's strategies are being used so it would be best not to get drawn into an opinion based back and forth. Just keep your banter factual and ask for facts in return for any assertions. And don't take it too seriously   Grin

Armis MS probably doesn't permit even the cancellation of a coin made on nxt
so no renaming is possible as far as i know but talk with longzai1988 on nxt forum

Thanks Mamamae

The weird thing is I verified that it could be done before I did it, but didn't inquire how it could be done because I thought it would be straight forward.

Here's the answer:

Just issue the same currency code again with different parameters. If you still own all the currency units, some other conditions apply see Currency canBeDeletedBy(), the currency will be issued with the new parameters.

You can change the parameters, not the name. If you want a new name, just reissue a new MS coin.

Change log:

This is an experimental release. It is a required update for all testnet nodes,

Fixed a bug in parsing ExtendTaggedData transaction json which prevents such
transactions from propagating between peers.

Added permanent message option to most send transaction dialogs.

Other minor bugfixes.

Does anyone know how I would go about changing a currency name after issuance via MS?

Where are we headed with all of this guys?  Is NXT destined to be a project with a lot of features but without any impactful projects utilizing its technology?  I think the current price action reflects this concern.

I have a question, if I issue a currency (via MS) and don't select any of the 'type' boxes (Exchangeable, Controllable, Reservable, Claimable, Mintable, Non-Shuffleable,)
what 'type' of instrument will be created?

My objective is to create a currency that could be traded at a Poloniex type of exchange with no strings attached.

thanks

Any of the currencies should be easily traded at an exchange.

I think you really need to understand what each type does and whether you want it or not before you start using your currency. Otherwise you are unlikely to end up with what you want.

Thanks for that, I studied the option to a great degree and although features like 'exchangable', 'controllable' and 'claimable' are good options I fear that they may scare some investors away unnecessarily.  As investors get to know the company and how we do things I will feel more comfortable introducing a more specialized currency.

One option I would really like to have is the ability to have the currency registered so that if it is stolen it could be 'stopped' and replaced.  I know transfers would be slower and more involved -- contract, escrow, closing.   It might create some legal nightmares but in our highly unsafe CC environment I could actually insure a degree of security.  Sure it's centralized but that's a reasonable trade-off.

Finally the first crypto coin that can claim to be a full stack solution for business. We need to promote this release in an appropriate manner to reach the right companies and startups.

Is there a way to reserve the name of a currency long before you issue it?    I have the name of the currency however I have not finalized the terms under which it will be issued.   Also, if I'm able to reserve specific currency names (like the way it is done with Aliases) I could then poll the community do decide which name to go with without fear of losing the names.

According to the below statement, property changes should work if you are prepared to spend another 40 NXT:
"Re-issuing an existing currency with different properties costs 40 NXT regardless of the number of the currency code length."

Source: https://bitbucket.org/JeanLucPicard/nxt/issue/205/monetary-system-documenation

Ahh, ha, apparently that is why so many currencies have no activity.   Indeed that would work for me.

Thanks

Thanks for the assist thread @ NXT forum.   And thanks for your opinion, I actually value your opinion.
