This is why I have asked cryptolawyer to ballpark a legal/regulatory cost to get said Direct USD to NXT exchange operating in New York.

Well forgetting for a second that no costs have been mentioned by Lawksy regarding the NY "bitlicences", you have to remember the upcoming New York regulation only applies to businesses serving New York citizens. If a New York based business serves customers in the other states of america, they will need the conventional money transmission licenses for those states if they want to do it by the book (estimates for these range from hundreds of thousands into the millions to cover every state and will take 1 year+ to get since you apply individually for them to each state and each state has their own requirements and costs. I believe 2 states don't need such licenses).

It's taken Kraken millions in funding to get their platform where they are today and they are still not operating in the US much. But they are the most legally compliant exchange I know of.

mr_random in quotes,
"Don't get me wrong, a brand new NXT to USD exchange is a good thing to have, but the effect that would have on NXT's demand would be very gradual, could take a year to build up customers etc. We should pursue that in parallel with getting NXT on the bigger exchanges eg Bitstamp, BTC-e, Kraken, Huobi."

I disagree that the effect on NXT demand would be gradual with the addition of a direct USD to NXT exchange. Nxt has solved the dreaded transaction malleability problem through the use of GUIDs in addition to TXIDs.

With BTC and all of its delays and long block generation time out of the picture, the increase in NXT demand should be explosive.

I do HIGHLY agree that we should pursue both options in parallel. But, at the moment there is no Direct USD to NXT exchange and no plans for one.

lexxus sent me a really good idea about having a fiat/NXT escrow process using OKpay API (or equivalent) to monitor external payments were made before releasing NXT. I think legally, the fiat was just sent via OKPay from one user to another, so providing the escrow service should have much lower legal exposure

I havent worked out the details of actually doing this, plus wont have time for it for a while, but if somebody wants to investigate/help on the OKpay side, PM me

I read your post mr_random. I have been saying the same thing for 800 pages of this thread. Still atomic-trade is not up and running. Vault of Satoshi is no longer serving U.S. customers. Coinpayments.net is closing down. Screw these third party exchanges. Nxt needs its own, or better yet a bunch of them.

Seeking solutions to the BTC before NXT conundrum.

Here it is in NON-Greek. NXT needs a USDollar to NXT exchange preferably in New York. NXT does not need listed on another exchange that must first have funds pass through BTC before NXT.

The Chinese can buy NXT directly with Yuan at bter, Americans or anyone with dollars cannot buy NXT without first buying BTC.

I take it you didn't read beyond the first paragraph in my post where I talk about NXT to USD exchanges needed.

The problem with having a "standalone" NXT to USD exchange is building up a customer base. Bitstamp has a freaking enormous customer base. If we got on Bitstamp I bet our market cap would overtake Litecoin and head to 1 billion dollars. No joke. Ripple is where it is today thanks to Bitstamp.

But we also have btc-e. That would bring lots of fresh blood into the game if we could get on there.

Kraken is also growing nicely but that is more for Euro to NXT exchange at the moment.

Hey GambleX- I think you are misleading people by claiming "Gamblex has added NXT to our exchange..."

GambleX does not have an exchange, just a website claiming there will be an exchange.

Also, please use a smaller font; When only 14 words fit on a line, your font size is too big.

EDIT: And by misleading people I mean misleading potential investors which is a defined common law violation.

http://www.nxtshop.eu/ finally added some personal info - breta is a long time member of the czech mini-community on nextcoin.org, but I don't know him personally. But prices are quite cheap, so - buy buy buy Cheesy

Very cool.

However, this really brings to mind a thought of what really peaked my interest in Nxt, websites in the nxt:// network. Has anyone implemented this yet? Do we have a road map regarding development and implementation of this feature. I'd be very interested in speaking with someone that has in depth knowledge in this.

Perhaps we could start a thread to discuss use cases a future development.

GambleX Exchange/Gambling

Hey guys!

Gamblex has added NXT to our exchange and our gambling site. It will be fully implemented, that means we will also sell shares that distribute a part of the NXT fee revenue to stakeholders.

Check out our thread and maybe Invest!

Are there some people left who're NOT dumping their Nxt? I see a lot of whales want out.

Why exactly is it?

show me more than 2 dumping whales in last 6 days:
http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=10715382765594435905
- everyone is buying

This is what scares me. I noticed this too, that this price decrease has been done by only 2 guys and about 3M NXT in last 10 days. These 2 guys have still 60M together.

I hope other whales don't follow these two.

Why ? We need big whales to spend their money so that the coin is more fairly distributed. Best would be if this is done via forum or private deals though, so that it doesn't affect exchanges.

Funny how one day people are complaining about "Whales" sitting on their NXT, and the next day they are complaining that the "Whales" are putting NXT into circulation. Cheesy

I noticed that too. Think it's two, different breeds of people? Or do you think people really just change their opinions based on their current state of emotion?

Don't really know. I don't keep tabs on who is posting what opinion. Just think it's funny.  Cheesy

And while I am a lawyer, I am not YOUR lawyer, and none of the above is legal advice.

What is your opinion on Ethereum IPO? Can they offer it to US citizens?
