I've seen Obyte has now started a discussion on Twitter/Reddit on the them of the draw - to continue or not this distribution lottery or to change it into perhaps a daily or even a hourly draw. As I've said in the past, I'd be in favor of either abolishing the lottery, or perhaps turn it into a daily/hourly one, which at least would benefit many more people. Concerns of price dumping if the lottery is abolished are quite irrelevant in my view - sooner or later the distribution will end and we'll have to face the market anyway.

"I think Obyte has a sh!tloads of technology, and if the world was fair, it would have higher value. And I don't think the world is fair. And I don't think adding extra technology would help. Your only chance is marketing chance and even then... It's hard right now." ~ Richard Heart on Obyte Podcast https://obyte.fireside.fm/richard-heart?t=9018
imo distribution killed this project. Even if you put aside lisk, waves, iconomi, comodo. Bitcoin actually had the similar task - how to distribute coins. From the scratch subsidy for miners is not the way, they should earn from fees. Fair economy, without government subsidy shit. But then Satoshi still had to distribute coins. So he just put it in coinbase reward. But he could airdrop all btc in the same way as Tony did, just with some other methods. Maybe, maybe Tony should have done the same. Start with pow and subsidy, and move to witnesses over time. Maybe this would create stronger community, who know. I understand Tony's decision to go with distribution, it’s fair and it seems you are doing everything right to create a community. But that did not work. While some pow coins managed to create somewhat ok communities. Perhaps there would be more candidates on witnesses, more transparency. But this is only a version, the crypto is dying and small projects like obyte are at the forefront of this process.

Well, Bitcoin distribution only worked until you were able to mine it with your CPU and GPU, which most people have. All you needed to do was run the miner and your got the money. Nowadays you can do that with Ethereum, but even then you need to be in mining pool where you trust that the pool operator will pay you your share of work.

The podcast is long, but one of the topics we covered was also the fact that Bitcoin mining nowadays is just a security theater and protection racket. You are not protecting Bitcoin from outside force, you are protecting Bitcoin from other miners. In the end, there is not much point to have multiple PoW coins, the one with most hashpower matters, rest could be easily attacked.

Well, yes, I understand that I said stupidity, because there is no need pow for obyte and even if you want to, it’s unlikely to be realized. But the distribution was unsolved issue then. Whel he could airdrop it to vc investors like vitalik did, but this is no easier task than the rest

Buy The F*cking Dip

Bosch Connectory Approved as Obyte Witness

"The results of the Bosch Connectory poll are in — and the results are overwhelmingly in favour of The Bosch Connectory joining Rogier Eijkelhof and Fabien Marino and becoming an order provider (Witness) on the Obyte default hub."

There's a rather large buy order on Bittrex:

~snip~

Seems to go down in price a bit every day.

If anyone is interested in selling 1000GB or more, I'll give a better price.

You will not find any seller here. Why don't you just go into an exchange and set a buy order with your "better price". In that sense, you will not have to go into hiring some escrow and do those cumbersome things. It is much easier doing such things in an exchange.

Lortz if you are concerned with Bittrex's KYC, you can go to cryptox.pl, someone might sell in your order there.

Any bagholders looking to sell large amounts, please message me. 500GB or more.

We can do escrow with someone reputable from the community.

Cheers

Bump. Smiley

You don't need escrow with Obyte because it has a possibility to swap between BTC and GBYTE built into the wallet. Just pair with someone and offer them smart-contract.

Would be great to have bridges to other networks to trade various tokens and coins but not only those Obyte based.  Is that possible?

Not directly but possible.  For example, AAs allow to create various derivatives linked (not necessarily pegged) to other coins and fiat currencies.

I understand. Thank you for the clear response.

A hint. Just check projects with use-cases, if you would like doxing the crypto's and its communities... Maybe they have some projects also, which are usable for our future... Maybe.
Many thanks to visit us.

Many people expect good growth from this coin. What do you think does it make sense to buy it today?

It depend on how much profit do you want to get. They have made a lot of xx since token sale. So you cant expect a lot more xx here. But for 2-3x you can expect if next bullrun happens

I also not expect IOTA in my projects, as this here i.e.:

What about the other rounds?

Other round pages were never persisted. The transition page kept changing with each round. The only thing I can find is a summary of distribution rounds here: https://obyte.org/#dist (in Previous distributions).

Is it still possible to see addresses that have participated in the old airdrop? That page seems down.

No one knows.. ?

Here: http://transition.obyte.org/firstround.html, you can find addresses that participated in the very first round.
