Just in ... Asia Cup is cancelled, says Ganguly
Asia cup is cancelled, surprisingly this news didn't came from the ACC (Asian cricket council) but Sourav Ganguly during Instagram chat. ACC's meeting is tomorrow (9th July)  Roll Eyes

This is really sad to know that finally Asia cup is cancelled and now it will be held in 2022 in Pakistan. All this is being done to make the IPL possible as Asia cup schedule was conflicting with the IPL. If Asia Cup 2020 postponed due to Covid-19, there should be no way PSL or IPL could take place at the same time.

Its not a wonder because India is sitting at the top 3 in the world in number of corona cases and there is a research from experts says India will face the worse situation of corona in 2021 if vaccine is not found at that time everyday there will be 2.97 new active corona cases will be recorded. Huh

You are right about cases in India but context is different because India didn't had hosting rights for Asia Cup.

Pakistan has a hosting rights for 2020 season and it was supposed to take place in Pakistan but BCCI declined to Pakistan due to obvious reasons and agreed to participate only if there is a neutral location, PCB knew that already so it was mutually decided that UAE will host the tournament.

But covid-19 changed the scenario and WC is about to cancel anytime now (according to ICC + CA). BCCI eyeing on every opportunity to start IPL 2020 so it was obvious choice for them to lobbying and influence the verdict on Asia Cup.

PS : UAE is also front runner to host IPL 2020.
UAE also got decent amount of corona cases but they are good at controlling by giving good regulations but still Do you believe that it is possible to host IPL 2020 successfully?

Honestly I already lost the hope of watching IPL for this year, now the whole country is afraid of covid 19 effect in the near future.

That is correct as the second most populated country in the world India will be the worst hit by this virus. They do not have the infrastructure to support such a large population and most states are breaking the daily covid19 reporting records. Good news is that a vaccine has completed the first level of trial and the government agencies are trying to get it released by next month.

I am not sure how they will do it but hopefully by the end of this year they should have a vaccine.

This is the problem with the Indian cricket team. Personal achievements are always given preference over the team achievements. Look at the Australian team. They would never do something like this. And that's why they have won more ICC tournaments, when compared to the Indians. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a legend. If he is in form, then he'll find a slot in the playing XI. If that is not the case, then he should sit out.
No idea about the exclusion of Mahendra Singh Dhoni just because he is out of form and there is another exceptional talent replacing him, i have not seen either and hence what is the debate here, the replacement wicket keeper has dropped many catches in a single tournament than what Dhoni might have dropped in his entire career Tongue.
Glenn McGrath got his farewell and so does Justin Langer and Shane Warne, coming to New Zealand Brendon McCullum got a farewell match and even the Australian players gave him the guard of honor if you want more, Alastair Cook when he announced his retirement got a grand farewell and the Indian team gave him a guard of honor and there are many more and i consider MSD as the best player from India and he deserves that kind of farewell rather than ignoring him.

Dhoni is now 39 years old. You know that within a few years he will retire. so, BCCI needed a good captain and wicket keeper, it is mandatory. I think they already have been found a better alternative of Dhoni as a captain. Virat Kohli is great as a captain. so now they need a legend wicket keeper.  BCCI can try someone new to pick a better wicket keeper.

About WC and IPL
Quote
"It's difficult to say which will be India's first international series. We've done our preparations but we can't do much till we know the government rules. We are not in a hurry because the health of players is of the utmost importance. We are monitoring things monthly," added Ganguly.

Ganguly also reiterated the BCCI's stance that the IPL can happen after a decision is announced by the ICC on the fate of the World T20.

"(If the T20 World Cup gets cancelled) then we will try everything to stage the IPL. It is very important for Indian cricket. We will try to host it in India," said Ganguly.

"The cancellation of T20 World Cup will happen soon because all countries are asking for a direction from ICC. We'll know by mid-July. My gut-feeling is saying it's tough."

Quote
CA chairman Earl Eddings has already clarified the ICC T20 World Cup was "unlikely" and "unrealistic". "It's a bit of a moving feast at the moment. I'd say it's unlikely, while it hasn't been formally called off this year or postponed, trying to get 16 countries into Australia in the current world where most countries are still going through Covid-19 spiking is very, very difficult," he had said.

However, the International Cricket Council had deferred a decision for one more month and will meet on July 17 to decide the fate of the tournament. "The ICC is trying their best to stage the T20 World Cup because that brings in a lot of revenue," said Ganguly. "We don't have a window for IPL yet because we have to play in Australia in December. That's FTP and we can't change that. Australia is one country where, apart from Melbourne, things are returning to norm

I understand that Mahendra Singh Dhoni is getting old but he deserves a farewell series as he is one of the best cricket minds i have seen in cricket and during his playing days i never used to understand his leadership skills and the changes he used to make during crucial situations but those changes made the difference between defeat and victory and for a player and captain like that he fully deserves a farewell series irrespective of his age .

We didn't see any struggle on his game play, he just want to give enough time for the team to settle down under new captain when he is out from team India, we all can see many legendary cricket teams are struggling now due to lack of sync in the team with each other.

Now this is very difficult case for him as age factor is also coming for MSD but in IPL still he can do some good things for his team in next event as he is really legend cricketer for India with best success rate and many great memories.
Age is less important when compared to fitness and performance. For example, look at Shami. He made a remarkable comeback thanks to his fitness and performance in recent times. The same applies to any Cricket player.

MSD clearly wants to continue playing in ODI and T20 formats which is why he never announced his retirement so far. As long as he is fit, he will definitely be chosen over any other wicket-keeper currently.

It seems cricket enthusiasts forgot to mention about birthday of MSD one of the cricket legend ever in cricket history.Lot of people make this trending on social media and also I have seen many videos on youtube and instagram.Hopefully we can see him again in cricket ground once this covid 19 got resolved. We can't say MSD is out of international career because we all have seen his fitness level in the recent time but he just stepped down from captaincy to give enough time for the new players to sync with the team for the next world cup.But no matter of what he is going to represent CSK in IPL tournament so as always I am a big fan of him forever. Since independence, India had a total of 16 sports ministers (including the current one, Kiren Rijiju from Arunachal Pradesh). Out of these 16 individuals, only one had sports background. And that was Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, who won the silver medal for shooting during the 2004 Athens Olympics. He was the sports minister until May 2019, but was replaced by Rijiju after the elections.
I have not thought about that and i never thought there is a sports minister and since you posted this i checked out and Spadafora is the minister for sports and youth policies and i have no idea whether they should be a player to get to that position as politics and sports are entirely different and if you had a minister then you can evaluate what changes they made and i would like to know what major changes they made after a sportsperson getting elected getting to the throne as minister.
ene1980 hopefully you will not mind as I want to ask something you are Italian and have some good knowledge and interest in cricket are you Indian origin or English hopefully this could be ok with you.

I am not a fan of centralized power and BCCI is already very strong organisation so i would be very careful by giving them more power. So not BCCI per se but i am in favor of privatization of sports in India, let someone else do that and BCCI could provide guidance or help if needed. And most importantly we need specialists, so sport minister must be elected from the sport fraternity and not any political outfit.

Its very good you know about this all Vishnu I never check how many sports minister we have as we have some troubled things around so I know just one person who was really great and done very good jobs for our country Air Marshal Noor Khan in cricket Hockey and Squash we have some great history and this all done by alone this person after this now we are in deep troubles just because of these corrupt politicians and we never survive or now we have very blink chances to become great like this so mostly done by just one or two persons not all can do this same.

This is now the high time that the sports minister should have the sports background compulsory, and this should be the pre-qualification. But unfortunately, that is not the case and as a result only cricket is being considered as the sports and receive the revenue and players form other sports are nowhere near in terms of the infrastructure for their practice grounds, money what they make as compared to cricket. When will the bureaucracy ends from the sports?

Politicians believe in politics regardless of their background, they will only follow the PR teams or their party. The best example is Pakistan, their PM is a legendary cricket player who had done nothing for the cricket team or the sports fraternity.

If you give the job of sports ministry to a player he will always behave just like a politician and not like a player.
