India could use some world class multi purpose stadium so that they can focus on other sports too.

Does it make more sense that BCCI along with Cricket should also pick some other sport and manage that as well. Though we have board for each sport than be it Hockey, kabaddi etc. But something like Archery, baseball etc in order to promote and build a good infrastructure and provide goo equipment’s and international trainer if possible requires money and since BBCI could easily do as other boards do not have money so this will help to create more talent among the people and also would be paid significantly than what it is being paid now to players.
I am not a fan of centralized power and BCCI is already very strong organisation so i would be very careful by giving them more power. So not BCCI per se but i am in favor of privatization of sports in India, let someone else do that and BCCI could provide guidance or help if needed. And most importantly we need specialists, so sport minister must be elected from the sport fraternity and not any political outfit.

Bhai brand new retractable roof stadium sucks up more than $1 Billion  so i am not sure if BCCI is capable to do that despite being one of the richest board in world cricket. Australia use their stadiums for duel purpose (Rugby mainly) if other sports in India ranks up then BCCI or sport authority could think about it IMO.

I am not sure about the $1 billion figure. In India, the construction and labor costs are low and therefore it should be cheap. Also I guess it may be possible to install retractable roof in some of the existing stadiums. And in this case the costs would be even lower. And if the BCCI can make deal with other sports bodies, then it is going to get more affordable. But trust me, every penny spent on such stadiums is going to be worth it. Just take the list of recent matches, which were washed out as a result of rain, and you would understand.

Marvel stadium (multi purpose stadium also knows as Docklands Stadium and Etihad Stadium) in Melbourne, Australia was built in 2000, which hosted only 3 ODI in its history, cost around 460ish Million Australian dollars so 300-340 Million US dollars. Its 2020 so new stadium's price should be around $1B or may be more.

I understand your point but like i said earlier if other sports ranks up (multi-purpose stadium) then its worth it otherwise not so IMO. And i am not sure if old era stadiums are good choice due to weak foundation etc but yeah new stadiums seems like a winner if someone adding retractable roof.

What you are saying makes sense, but the BCCI are way too corrupt to actually implement such stuff. Think about it. They could have easily installed such stuff long back with the revenue they pull in every year, but they didn't because of the state of Indian corruption.

India could have become a 1st world country if the corruption rates dropped to a minimal(Primarily the politicians), but it remains a 3rd world developing nation to date thanks to corruption and other bad qualities.

Countries like Singapore etc used to poor when compared to India, but look at them now. This is why it is best not to expect such grand stuff from a corrupt group like the BCCI.
Best thing for India they have democrasy and worst thing for them they never adopt a system to fight against corruption so they are still struggling and living in third world countries they need to do some hard work for this all but their system is not allowing for this all so they have really serious trouble around them they can creat too many opportunities and things for local peoples but in last 73 years its really wastefull for this all as still fight is going on for Temple and Masjid its just because of these corrupt politicians and poor system.

There is not even one stadium with retractable roof in India. I don't know why the BCCI is not paying any attention to this, as more and more matches are getting cancelled as a result of rain interruption nowadays. Last year, the domestic season was seriously impacted by the rains and a large number of matches were called off. If Australia can afford it, then why not India? Such stadiums can be used for other sports as well.
I do not remember seeing an international cricket match played in closed stadiums, there is nothing much that can be done and even if they build an expensive stadium and on top of that the maintenance charges, is it even worth spending that kind of money as i am not expecting cricket match to be played under a roof especially T20 as we might see more dead balls after hitting the roof.

BCCI got hosting rights for next 2 WC tournaments so can imagine next world cup final in this ground, may be in 2021 T-20 World cup or 2023 50 overs WC and if not then IPL final is okay too.
Very good pics of new stadium they can go for some more in Banglore, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi as this will be great helpful in IPL matches and will give them great revenue.
We already got tons of cricket stadium here, instead of cricket stadium India could use some world class multi purpose stadium so that they can focus on other sports too.

This is good idea BCCI is one of richest Board and they can do some good business and could be more rich but its need some hard work and may be government approval as well they can sponsor some sports and this can give this sports better lifeline and BCCI more money like they can do work on Rugby and work on super league like IPL which can give some good profit.

No doubt about that. Sangakkara is one of the gentlemen players among the cricket legends, much like Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. No one can question his integrity, or his loyalty to the game. But this entire episode would have left him depressed and frustrated. And he may decide to stay out of any active competition or election for now. I have said this earlier... but would repeat once more.
I agree. To be brutally honest, Sangakarra is easily the best Sri Lankan player to date thanks to his captaincy, batting and communication skills. He is the best Sri Lankan legend and is basically the MSD of the Sri Lankan camp in my opinion.

Questioning him for 10 hours is outrageous, but that is how politics works. I sincerely hope he doesn't get into politics since they tend to change a lot(Negatively) majority of the time.

Some positive news for Indian Cricket fans guys. Check this out.

It looks like Modi went all out with this stadium and the results look great. Am not surprised that he chose Gujarat as the location since it is his home base. This will probably help Indian Cricket in many ways considering it is the largest Cricket stadium out there.

This is true, the majority of Politicians are dumb. The minister wanted to cash this issue by creating an atmosphere that he is concerned about the performance of Srilankan cricket and that if there is any corruption he would root it out. Unfortunately, it got backfired miserably.

Politicians should stay out of cricket and similarly, cricketers should stay out of politics. Both of them are not happening in Sri Lanka. Huge revenues from the sport have meant that SLC remains under the control of government proxies. On the other hand, a number of cricketers have cashed in on their popularity, and went on to become politicians. For example, Arjuna Ranatunga joined the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and was elected to the parliament. He later became the deputy minister for tourism.

In my opinion, it was to gain some political mileage and gain some popularity about the Srilankan citizens that the current sports minister raised this issue. Unfortunately, it backfired and he had to drop the investigation. This was suppose to happen as it is not possible to gather evidence related to the match which is 9 year old.
The minister might not be having any other work during the lock down period and he might be watching a ton of conspiracy theories and thought about investigating about the missed world cup of Sri Lanka without any evidence or he might have lost a ton of money betting on that game and now almost a decade later he wanted to find out whether his betting line was correct  Cheesy. Majority of the politicians are dumb and because they have the power to investigate without any evidence they proceeded without understanding the consequences and hence they had to close them because of the backlash they got.

@vishnu.reang it was termed as an investigation but I don’t think it has damaged Sangakkara credentials, and if he qualifies to succeed Mr. Shashank Manohar, then he should file his nomination without bothering about this investigation, as every one knows that it was a false accusation and further the police too has given him the clean chit.

Sri Lanka police call-off 2011 World Cup final match-fixing probe over lack of evidence
Quote
The Sri Lankan police on Friday (July 3) dropped the match-fixing investigation regarding the 2011 World Cup final after they failed to find any concrete evidence of Sri Lankan players letting India win as per latest reports.
Former skipper Kumar Sangakkara, ex-chief selector Aravinda de Silva and a couple of others were interrogated this week over suspicions that have dogged the match for years.
"We are satisfied with their explanation," a top police official told AFP.
"The inquiry is now closed." "They had reasonable explanations about the changes that were made to the final squad," the officer added.
"We found no evidence of any wrongdoing."
This sudden action is really wired now I am feeling this Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage was looking for media coverage so just because of this all he done this all and now they feel its going to be more drama then they was expected so they closed this all and now all in limbo very strange works happening.

I don't think it so. we all know that there are a lot of gambler who like to gamble on cricket. and they interfere in the match, sometimes match fixing is occurred, they make the game like their will. A few days ago, ICC said that most of the match- fixer are related to India. so, it can be said that Match-fixing in the 2011 world cup is not something impossible. so, I think that there is need to more investigation about the 2011 World cup.
This all is ok but if someone have proof's then surely he need to submitt ICC Anti Corruption unit then we can have some better results and all informations about this right now its nothing just a joke as Election is around in Sri Lanka and this political leader wants something from this and if you are feeling India is most involved in cricket related gambling then no one can do any thing as ICC is all under control of them and they have power to change many things for their own sack its already shut up and do your own business call for them.

If someone had any proof then they would have submitted to the ICC long back. They do not and that is the reason they have dropped the investigation in just two days. I guess they do not want to accept till date that India played better on that day.

When the srilankan's did not have valid proof why they insisted on a investigation. I do not understand what were the motive behind all these allegations. This was just a wastage of time and it brought more bad name to the srilanka cricket.
