There is continued progress with Ireland team. Even against the top teams they've managed to play good cricket. One is the win against South Africa, next is the win on T20 match against Bangladesh. Most of the time matches played used to be so close giving hard competence. Sometimes it looks like lack of experienced players leading to loss of the match. Anyhow in this series, the second match is the turning point. If the match was played full, the result might've changed. Possibly by the next world cup it will be a game changer.

Ireland won the last match of the series against West Indies and thereby won the series 2-1. I guess this is their first ODI series victory against a full member. It was a very close match and at one point West Indies were struggling at 119/7. But then the Ireland bowlers gave away too many runs towards the end, allowing West Indies to put up a total in excess of 200. And while chasing this moderate target, there was a wobble from Ireland towards the end, before Craig Young managed to hit the winning runs.

Now Ireland has 68 points from 18 matches in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League. They have two more series remaining.

West Indies bad days are yet to be over rather they are getting worsen day by day. Ireland is a team that can do upset against test playing team but cant beat it in a bilateral series. This win clearly indicates the level of West Indies team these days. Very soon they have to give up there test playing status.

West Indies are batting after losing the toss against Ireland. West Indies scored 154 runs in 35 overs. But they lost 7 wickets. West Indies will probably lose all their wickets before collecting 200 runs. Ireland has a chance to win today's match.

West Indies managed to give a target of 213 runs. This is a good enough collection to fight against a team like Ireland. I think so. If the West Indies bowlers can perform well, then the West Indies have a chance to win.
Ireland's collection at the end of 9 overs 44/1. They lost the first wicket by zero runs. They need 169 in 41 overs to win. Both teams have a chance to win. Let's enjoy the match.

Meanwhile Srilanka has won first ODI againest Zim and lead 3 match bilateral ODI series 1-0. Zim gave a good target by batting first i.e. 296. Sean Williams was top scorrer from Zim as he scored 100 runs. SL in reply chased it quite easily and finished the match in 48.3 overs. Good to see both SL and Zim giving good cricket.

Vaccinized.. immunity level is full.
I am watching an ODI match after a long time. Zimbabwe set a huge target of 297 runs. I didn't expect  Zimbabwe to score 296 runs against Sri Lanka. This shows how weak Sri Lankan bowling is. The performance of Williams, Chakabva, and Kaitano of the Zimbabwe team was good. Williams played a remarkable inning of 100 off 87 balls.
Sri Lanka now need 40 off 40 balls to win. Chandimal and Asalanka are now at the crease. Maybe Sri Lanka will win.

Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka started the innings very well. And subsequent batsmen have also been able to maintain consistency. So Sri Lanka was able to easily defeat the Zimbabwe team. But Sri Lankan bowlers need to be more experienced. If a team like Zimbabwe can collect so much against them, it will be challenging for Sri Lanka to win against strong teams. They won't even win against Bangladesh and West Indies.

Under 19 World Cup ODI is in progress but I think no one is watching those matches. Today Bangladesh will take on England and there is nothing special about this match. The reason i am posting for this is that if you remember last year in 2020 U19 world cup, the Bangladesh team defeated the Indian team in the final and won the WorldCup. That was a historic match and i ugre everyone to watch this match highlights on youtube and refresh their memories.  Smiley

Past results are useless if the current team is unable to perform well.
I Just checked the score on espn and found that bangladesh are all out in this match against England scoring only 98 runs. Although they won the last world cup but the current team does not look any special to make any significant performance.

Cricket is progressing on its own, we cant say ICC has any role in spreading cricket to new countries of the world. One thing is clear that countries are no more interested in ODI and Test, focus is only on T20. Its better to restrict cricket to Test and T20 format only. Players are unable to keep form in so many formats.
Test matches still have some good future in long run, just ODI could be wiped out from scene because it's not having any good point to stay around with many leagues with test matches are going to be good earner for many countries and boards. With 100 League and 10 Leagues are also creating some good interest for fans around the globe, ODI's just a waste of time and energy.

ICC need to overhaul all set up and talk with all boards for better end of this format and introduction of some more and fruitful things for better earning can bring more technology and big market as right now we have nothing good in North and South America and in many Eastern European countries these formats can give better exposure to fans.

I think you are right. The amount of t20 franchise leagues we have right now is a lot compared to that 10 years ago. Now boards are investing in t20 cricket and so is ICC. t20 generates more revenue compared to other formats. It's also a short format which is enjoyable to the viewers.

Test cricket is still there because of its legacy. The resilience a team needs to win a test match over 5 days is unmatched. That is a reason why one-day cricket could render useless or uncompelling to people in the near future. Now with the addition of T-10 cricket, this has just become more of a viable option,.

By now most of the matches were supposed to be completed. But they got delayed as a result of the COVID issue. Anyway, there won't be another Super League from now on. The ICC bosses decided that they should rather focus on useless bilateral series and they have discontinued the Super League. So this one is the last edition. Anyway, the third and final match of the tour will be played today. If Ireland manages to win this match, then they are almost assured of a slot in the top-8. They have only two series remaining after this one. First one against Bangladesh, and then against New Zealand.

This win clearly means that Ireland has the potential to stay as top cricket team. Bilateral series are also important since that way players (new one specially) get opportunity to show there skills and based on these series leagues pick up players.
Meanwhile there is match b/w Zim and SL today. Its good to see Zim getting involved in international cricket. They are very much out of seen for so many years.

I remember Ireland has beaten Pakistan in 2007 WC but there is no news about Ireland team since then. ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League – Standings are still at early stage as countries like NZ, Afghanistan and SA are not in top 8. They have only played 3 matches while Ireland after playing 15 matches is at no 4. Things will get clear after all teams have played equal no of games.

Now ODI is not having good future because in near future we will have some good number of T20 and test matches with due to bad governance of ICC we are losing some good things Ireland can do some better in this short term format with having good players and experience of this, but I am feeling in near future we are not going to have equal opportunities for all teams because many boards are not accepting rules by ICC as they need own governments policies to be followed for having in touch with this all, so currently any team can go on top with any points and big teams can lose their positions nothing is clear.

New Zealand, South Africa and Afghanistan have no ODI's and for the future it's still unclear who is going to play how many matches.

Ireland was playing without many of their regular players, as the captain (Andrew Balbirnie) and some of the star performers tested positive for COVID. On top of that, Mark Adair was injured and this severely weakened their bowling department. And despite all this, they managed to defeat West Indies. Andy McBrine had an exceptional outing, and he was supported by the pacer Craig Young. Now looking at the points table for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League, I believe there is a very good chance that Ireland may finish among the top 8.

The level of WI cricket team has gone down too low that they are beaten by Ireland in 2nd ODI. The 3-match series now stand at level 1-1. WI managed to score 229 in 48 overs before there last batsman got out. Ireland won on D/L method but its a worrying sign for cricket, if teams like WI are at that level then we don't have much options left out.

@blatchorn WI is a weak team now and yes they do have brilliant individuals in their ranks, but overall for me they’re a weak team and hence I’m not at all surprised that they were beaten so easily. Lastly WI can yet turn their fortunes around if their best player’s play more international cricket, but I can understand why they chose other leagues over international cricket due to more revenues being involved.

If these leagues continue to progress then teams like WI will go down in performance since there boards are not rich and leagues pay more to players. Its very unfortunate but its a reality we have to accept. WI has produced great players in the form of Brian Lara, Walsh but now there is hardly any noticeable name in there team.
