You will find such shameful incidents only in cricket. In none of the other sports, deserving teams are sidelined and others are given the qualification berths just because the potential revenue can be higher. And this is not something new. Remember the ODI world cup of 2007? India and Pakistan failed to qualify from the first stage, and after that the ICC reduced the number of participating teams from 16 to 10. If revenue is the sole criteria, then why even have the world cup? We can just decide India as the champions and Pakistan as the runners up before playing even a single match.

The anti Pakistan lobby is very strong in ICC. There are very rear chances that icc can give some favour to Pakistan since one of big 3 member is throwing everything against Pakistan in ICC. Pakistan men team is very strong and can't be ignored by icc only because of there performance rest they generate much revenue for ICC.

Congratulations to the Pakistan women's team for their win. But at the same time, I can't oversee the fact that Pakistan qualified to the tournament in an unfair manner. During the qualifying tournament, it was Thailand who finished up with most points (6), but the ICC decided to give qualification spots to second placed Bangladesh and third placed Pakistan (4 points each), since they are part of the ranking system (as an associate nation, Thailand is not ranked by the ICC). I hope that next time Pakistan will be able to qualify in a fair manner.

I really don't want to offend anyone but I have to say if it was not for the money I think Thailand would have been the team playing in the tournament instead of Pakistan.

It is obviously good for Pakistan that their women's team is getting a good amount of exposure from this tournament. And I really hope that they will be able to make it count. Otherwise, there will be a lot more talks about this same thing in the future.
Qualification based on ICC ranking is shittist rule in ICC playbook and then these nutjobs gives sermons to others, to help em with the so called spreading the game nonsense. No wonder associates nations are not progressing.

IMO WC automatic qualification should be based on only 1-2 points.

- If you're host nation.
- If you were the finalist in the last edition.

And if you don't fall in these 2 categories then simply play the qualification. This also apply to Men's cricket.

@Sithara007 once again ICC decision came down on the big audience and money factor, and it’s clear that Pakistan had big audience which would in turn help ICC make more money hence they were promoted ahead. Lastly team Pakistan actually played well, and I just wonder why they didn’t show such spirited performances earlier, but I hope that next time they’ll compete more fiercely and give us more entertaining matches to watch.

People of Subcontinent are those who are keeping the cricket alive with zeal and zest - Pakistan, IND and Bangladesh have cricket running in the blood of each and every one. I some how agree with @sithara007 that can be one of the reasons - but than again let's give Pakistan Women cricket team the due cricket they deserve.

The third ODI match between Bangladesh and South Africa will be played today. In the first match, we saw the batting of the batsmen of Bangladesh. They were able to deliver a huge target and easily won the match. In the second match, Bangladesh's top order suffered a catastrophic disaster. As a result, they failed to make a big targets and were defeated.
What is the prediction about the third match? Will Bangladesh show any surprises again? Or like the second match, this match will be defeated by poor performance?

It was a really big score and Australia chased it down with 28 balls remaining. I think that is certainly going to give people a good idea about how good the Australian women's team is at the moment.
Actually, it should have been hard for Australia to chase a score that big but they made it look so easy in the end. I think there is not any team in this tournament who can stop Australia at the moment.

The only team who could match Australia in terms of quality is England but they are not having the best of tournaments right now.
Australian form and quality is amazing with today's result I am feeling they will champion again without any problem because no team capable of giving them any challenge specially after very poor start from England even now they are coming back in good form and most chances they will end with third spot.

Because, Australia is already at top and South Africa is going to stay at second and England at third with West Indies and India will fight for remaining fourth spot with most chances India will qualify for semifinal as West Indies is suddenly coming down and out from this competition after having two the worst performances against Bangladesh and Pakistan even they won against Bangladesh, but this was really poor from them.

Vaccinized.. immunity level is full.
There have been some inconsistent performances in this world cup. Teams who looked promising against good teams lost to the weak teams which make the points table very interesting. The next few matches are like knock out matches for these five teams. Only the Australian team has managed to win all of their matches and clearly looking to dominate. SA is another team who is undefeated and has shown some exciting performances.
Today again Australian women teams chased a big target of 272 runs against the second best team of the tournament, South Africa. They easily chased this score with about 5 overs still remaining in the innings which shows their class over all other teams. Their captain Meg Lanning lead from the front and scored an unbeaten 135 runs.
Do anyone still have doubt on Australians winning this world cup?
In ODI cricket, Meg Lanning is known both for leading from the front and for chasing most centuries. What an incredible batter Meg Lanning is. She is leading from the front with her batting. Women's Australian team is so destructive, this team will surely give any team a good fight. The Australian women team cannot be stopped. Invincible as they may seem, they can be defeated, but their opponents must perform exceptionally well to do so.

We have an interesting ODI match coming up tomorrow between Bangladesh and South Africa. The series is levelled so far as both have won one match. Asian teams don't have good record playing at South Africa. It will be Bangladesh first ever win at South Africa if they won tomorrow match.
Since 20121, South Africa has played 15 matches winning 7 only while in 6 they have to face defeat. Seeing these stats, there are fare chances of Bangladesh win tomorrow.

Surely reduction of overs have the biggest impact and toss was also big factor specially after rain it is every time going to hurt team which bat first and same happened with West Indies which done amazing job in first two matches as they beat England and New Zealand.

But, sadly lost now 2 out of 3 matches they merely win against high-flying Bangladesh in last match but today lost and now they hare on verge of elimination from this world cup because no they have last matches against South Africa which is very good right now and England having two easy matches against Pakistan and Bangladesh so with this now most chances Australia, South Africa, England and India can qualify for last four teams in this mega event. With host, New Zealand is already out of this event after losing four matches.

Yes, your prediction is quite correct because I don't see anything else happening in this tournament. But for me, the actual question is going to be if the Australian team is going to be beaten.

Because at the moment it seems like they are unbeatable and no other team in this tournament is at the same level as Australia. It would be really interesting to see Australia vs England final after how the England team started this tournament.

I hope these rules were prior to qualifying rounds not after the qualifying round was played. If rules were changed for Pakistan to take part in icc women WC then its unfair otherwise the criticism is unfair.
Meanwhile Aussies women just like men cricket team are too good in this WC and are unbeaten so far. There latest win is over SA. Chances are they will lift this WC.

Congrats to Pakistan fans they finally have something to cheer about. WI team who has done so good in his opening matches by defeating top teams like NZ and England has lost its path and lost to weak teams like Bangladesh and Pakistan. The run for semi is still very much on for WI, SA, India, England and NZ.

Australia women played very well this world cup.I hope they will be champion this year.

I agree – they played fearlessly and bagged their first victory since 2009 -  well played team Pakistan.
It’s indeed -  Great day for Pakistan both for women cricket team and Men’s team. I liked the spirit of Shaheen Shah and Naseem Shah. Looking fwd to day 2. Although I have gut feeling that the match will end in draw.

The Pakistan team did play well and I think the reduction of overs played a crucial role in this match. The reduction of overs meant that the players could play a lot more freely than they generally would have. Actually, I think Pakistan is certainly going to go for it anyway because you know, they have nothing to lose right now.

Finally, finally, finally yes finally Pakistan women teams register their first win today against the west indies women team and we can call this a sort of an upset. The 50 overs match was reduced to 20 overs and Nida Dar took 4 wickets for 10 runs making it hard for the WI to score a big target.
Pakistan team is out of the race of the semi finals but I do hope they win one more match. They still have two more matches left.

Well done Women Team Pakistan  Smiley
