There is still a lot of time for the next IPL. By that time, the situation of covid variants will be clear. If the virus is outspread in India at that time, most probably it would be better to delay the IPL rather than to play it without the international players. Secondly, i am not worried if the Indians were not able to play well in this series. They will regain form in the next series for sure.

Right now India as well as most of the other countries are witnessing a huge spike in the number of COVID cases. And if the projections come true, then by the end of next month the spike will end. IPL is scheduled to start by the end of March, so I guess there is enough time for the BCCI to arrange the tournament. But as we have seen on several occasions for the last two years, it is very difficult to predict the course of the pandemic. New waves appear in the horizon whenever there seems to be a lull in the number of new cases.
The increase of COVID cases are experienced all around. Within India slowly the restrictions and Sunday lockdowns were getting importance. There is decline in the cases in some zones whereas to experience a complete relief out of the pandemic won't happen anytime soon. This means people are getting adopted to the pandemic and are moving the life forward. So, this time there is very less chance for the IPL reschedule.
IPL won't get rescheduled this time as the third wave peak is expected to come by February and after that cases will be very less. IPL is scheduled in the month of April by that time things will be very different. This time only few states are reporting COVID cases compared to last time where every state was facing problem. This might be because some states have already achieved 100 percent 1st phase vaccination for the required age group.

Cricket World Cup 2022 quarter-final fixtures have been announced. BAN secured their position in the quarter-finals on the final day of the group stages.

26 January – QF1 England v South Africa;
27 January – QF2 Sri Lanka v Afghanistan;
28 January – QF3 Pakistan v Australia;
29 January – QF4 India v Bangladesh ;

After defeating UAE by nine wickets in the U19CWC, Bangladesh qualify for the quarter-final. Bangladesh's 2020 team is much better than its current one; still, however it should be an exciting match.

With that said I also think that the Indian team also needs a break. At least until they fix these problems. And with the rise of 'omicron' cases all around the world, there should be a stoppage in cricket for quite a long time I suppose. So it's in their best interest is there fix all of the insidious problems during that time.

There is no stoppage of cricket recently because of the outbreak of omicron. Don't expect the world to be shut down so that Indian team gets a break from their poor performances. By the way, next season of IPL is near where you will find all the Indian players again at their peak form. Let the Indian team play the league cricket, in where they are best at. The outside world's competition is a tough one. Cool
Nonetheless, it's not great news that several key English players are pulling out of the IPL. As a result of Covid, Omicron could lead to another shortage of overseas players. What if the rest of the overseas players followed this trend in the future and focused on country cricket and domestic cricket? At least, it would be nice to see Indian players regain their peak form after the IPL.

Shami is rested because of work management issue and so its fine i suppose, even Bumrah needed some rest.

Despite this fuckery i would say this is good team but going through some bad phase (last month or so), not the other way around.
May be too much cricket and the players are tired or they have taken too much rest and it is taking time to get back into rhythm Wink.  Do we really have a work management policy in the Indian team. I am critical because the team is good but the selection process is not that great and when they are not performing to the best of their ability as bettors it pisses me off  Cheesy.

I do not understand why Rahul was given the captaincy instead of Kohli. Is Rohit Sharma not more experienced than Rahul? I think Kohli is better than Rahul as captain and batsman.
There is no one else in the team that are capable of leading the team, Rohit Sharma is not fit and he needs to take care of his health if he wants to play for a longer period of time, he plays one series and he is injured the next and that is going on for the past few years.

~
So you did not had any hopes against Australia and England. Never thought Indian team morale will be soo much down after back to back defeats.
Now since South Africa beat them, I think they should cancel other tours and ask ICC to schedule their series with Ireland or Scotland so that they can have some win in their bags. Remember they showed good performance against these teams in T20 World cup.
Do you really think that any cricket board will care about the feelings of a player, the players are dispensable and if they are not playing well they will be removed and a new member comes in and the ball keeps on rolling. It is all about making the profit for the board and rolling the ball continuously.

India lost the second match, as well as the ODI series. I don't know who to blame, the pitch was good for batting. India did a well start but KL Rahul has given a lot of dot balls while he was trying to build a long partnership with Rishabh Pant. This match would be more competitive if India scored above 300 runs. Indian bowlers are also in poor form now. Seems like India will be whitewashed by South Africa in the ODI series.
I would not be surprised if India will win the last match but it will be of no use. India lost the test and the ODI series against the team which is not one of the best teams in recent times. Both the batsmen and bowlers were not able to show any strength against SA. I think India needs to forget about this series and think on how they can improve and avoid the current mistakes.
After losing test series now they lost ODI series as well without any big trouble South African outclass India in all fields and change of captaincy is also having some big impact on Indian player's performance just Pant was in good touch all others were completely out of way Kohli is also losing confidence management need to give him some time for having positive comeback into team.
To be honest Indian cricket board needs to get their shit together. Because they performed really in an underwhelming way against South Africa. And from my point of view, that is not the players' fault. Under certain situations, even the greatest players can crack. And that is what happened here. We all know that the vibe is not good in the team. And there are more deserving captains who should have captained the team. Right now players' morale is slow and something needs to change pretty soon.

Moreover, Indian players must need some rest as well because having very tough schedule is also having some bad impact on their performance they need to have some good number of changes for test matches and other formats which give some good rest to players those are playing without any break for long time Bhuve is also having very bad time as he is still very good bowler but recently some good number of voices coming against him for having some better performance.

When we look at India as a big cricket-playing nation which has a really big effect on almost every sphere of cricket, I believe that they are not quiet and 'example setting' teams. With all the resources and talent they have, they have to be doing better to manage the team and also look at players' mental health.

And also there is a point when people should understand that something is too early for a player and he needs to be given more time or he needs to get more experienced for certain responsibilities.

We can clearly see that the responsibility which was given to Rahul was not even worth an experiment. And the amount of toxicity in the team is not helping the cause at all and that is the main reason why the mental health of every player should be monitored with great caution. But as of now, Rohit Sharma must be the best man to get the captaincy of India.

Indians are only good in IPL where boundaries are short and pitches are suitable for hitting. See there performance in T20 WC after IPL, it was a complete failure. Rohit Sharma is ideal for captaincy,  just give him a chance for a year and see how things work. You can't expect results straight away from a change.

I agree with JSRAW. The real issue with the Indian team is not regarding the availability of talent. The real issue is the way this talent is being managed. The elevation of KL Rahul as the captain of the Indian team was perplexing to me. He is having a poor record as the captain, in the IPL for Punjab Kings. There were more deserving people in the team who could have captained the side. And Rahul's captaincy tactics were quite pathetic in the first two matches to be honest. Also, Dravid as the coach needs to step in and remove the toxicity from the team.
There is no shortage of talented players in the Indian team, even their second-tier team is talented enough.
Their main problem now is the lack of leadership.
Secondly, the players are not in form.
Thirdly, is the lack of confidence of the players.

India lost the test series and they are about to lose the ODI series which could end as a whitewash by South Africa considering how some of their key bowlers and batsmen have been underperforming in recent times.

Why Indians have started losing all formats of cricket against the weakest teams.  Roll Eyes
It seems they have not come out of the defeat they have faced in the cricket T20 world cup.

I was not having any hopes when India travelled to Australia or England and they surprised me with the performance and in this tour against South Africa i thought if they beat teams like Australia and England then South Africa who i think have the weakest team in a long time will not be a huge task, but the situation is far from the truth  Cheesy.

Where the heck is Shami? Also, how many more chances will they keep giving Bhuvi who has been struggling for a long time now?
Even i was thinking what happened to Mohammed Shami, he is the best bowler along with Jasprit Bumrah and they are sticking with Bhuvneshwar Kumar who is not able to get the swing like he expected in these pitches.

Since the most experienced batsmen in the Indian team are now KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli. Since they are the most experienced and senior in the team. It is normal for everyone to expect more from them. But they did not live up to expectations. KL Rahul and Dhawan played well but wasted a lot of balls. Kohli was out for zero. The bowlers' performance was worse. Bowlers may not be accustomed to bowling on such a pitch. I think South Africa is taking some home advantage. However, India have lost both the Test and ODI series. Tomorrow they will play the last ODI match.

Cant say about whitewash but India surely are at the verge of losing the odi series after test series loss. If India cant win series at SA with current SA team I guess they can never win series in the future. SA was very much down and out but there players are back in form in this series. See the consistency in batting line up of SA in today's game. They all have scored over 30 runs.
