BCCI didn't sacked Ravi Shastri, his contract was about to over along with bowling coach (Batting coach was new, he's still with the team) and that's why they started headhunting their replacement even during WTC finals. As of now one new IPL franchise already in touch with him for head coach gig, let's see.

Shastri was doing commentary for more then two decades. I never saw him in coaching side. It was surprising why bcci appoints a commentator as head coach. Does he has some experience of coaching? PAKISTAN also did the same mistake of appointing waqar younis as bowling coach,  he was good bowler but his focus was commentary not coaching.

This was in plan, but they were waiting for something, so it's happen in this T20 WC, and they have done these changes which are very good because now Kohli can play without any pressure and his performance can help Indian cricket team for having some better results. Rohit is also having some good experience in these both short formats, so hopefully now he will also be having good time as captain in coming T20 and ODI world cup.

With all new management and having coach like Dravid it is very good new era for Indian cricket which is going to start at very bad time when we have new wave of corona in South Africa, and they are travelling lest see what's happened for them here.

So it means now Rohit will play under the pressure of Captaincy? Any info about Ravi Shastri, is he completely fired from BCCI or still has some portfolio there? Man he is too good in commentary. I love to see him back on the commentary box. He and Late Tony Craig are my all time favorite. Cant wait to listen his commentary.

There are also some BS reports coming that BCCI sacked Virat Kohli from the ODI captaincy. This sounds ridiculous to me, as no cricketing nation allow 2 full time captain in white ball cricket(T-20 and ODI) So when Virat stepped down from the T-20 captaincy, it was obvious that Rohit will lead the national team in the white ball cricket, may be for next 2-3 years only because he's also getting old.

All these changes indicates that Indian team is about to enter into transitional period in next 3-4 years. New crop will take the charge soon.

Finally, BCCI announced the India ODI captain. India have named Rohit Sharma as their new ODI captain, replacing Virat Kohli. I think that was a logical decision. There is no doubt that Virat Kohli is one of the best cricketers in the world, but speaking of his captaincy, there is something missing and expectations aren't met. This is not to say that Kohli did not deserve that role. It was always believed somewhere that Rohit had a slight advantage over him when it came to limited overs.

As a player, others are miles behind Virat Kohli. There was a time when the team used to be overdependent on Kohli, during the SENA tours. But then I guess power got in to his head. He started interfering in team selection and got the perfect sidekick in the form of damaadji (Ravi Shastri). Dhoni is also accused of having bias and favoritism, but his choices were never as useless as the ones Kohli had. Kohli just persisted with substandard players, only because they were loyal to him. I don't know how different is Rohit. Let's wait and watch.

Ravi Shastri is out completely, for now, he will now again come back to the commentary panel I guess. Rahul Dravid has taken over his job and I feel the team will perform much better than it was previously. Rohit was the better option than the others in that contention. Now, we need to watch Kohli whether he can start performing as he was before becoming a captain.

I don't think he will feel pressure because he is naturally aggressive player and can handle situations very positively so in my view it's very good decision from BCCI with this Kohli will be more useful in these both short formats because he was feeling pressure and some criticism from many sides about few issues now he will be more lethal as player.

There were rumours that Ravi Shastri is looking for some coaching job in new two teams but until now we have no official news about this all because now he doesn't want to be again joined as commentator so feeling better as in this new role which is good for him but if he fails to have any job then surely he could be back here.

I think its the result of bad performance of Indian cricket in recent T20 WC and as a result Kohli has to lose his captaincy. Kohli was good till this WC, I guess there was no news of new captain before the T20 WC, it all happen after the WC. Rohit Sharma real test will be in SA, as they will be playing outside India there.

Who is the captain of India in One day cricket right now ??
Virat kohli said that he is leaving the captaincy of india from t20 cricket only but every where in news I hear that Rohit is the new white ball captain for India. Why is that so I am a bit confused who will captain india in one day internationals virat kohli or rohit sharma.
What i feel is virat should be the captain of Indian team in the ODI cricket till 2023 world cup .

@CDC AP for now Virat is yet the ODI captain, but rumours are that he’ll soon be asked to step down from that position. Furthermore it’s only a rumour for now so let’s wait for the official confirmation, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he steps down immediately too due to BCCI pressure.

Currently, the ODI captain of India is Virat Kohli but BCCI seems really interested to replace him rate Rohit Sharma as a captain. I think that Rohit Sharma is a far better captain than Virat Kohli, and if India plays the next world cup under Rohit Sharma captaincy then they will do far better. Obviously, Virat Kohli is one of the best players in the world but that does not mean he has the capability of being a captain.

Its official now.. BCCI also following Australia-England path of different format, different captain. Its seems logical decision as well considering they play ridiculous amount of cricket every year and schedule is jam packed. Let's hope Hitman does well.

it should not be happening at least in a developed country like South Africa. It has been a problem for a lot of countries about the Caste system. But I also think that sometimes people take it too far. They think that they are being neglected because they are black but they are not actually being neglected. But that is not mostly the case. I think the selectors are there to judge who plays cricket better, not which color of player plays better.
South Africa is not a developed country they have some serious issues, and recently we watch on media how things are going the worst due to corruption and bad management.
Currently South African biggest issue is corruption after death of Nelson Mandela ANC is completely failure in many cases, so they are also failed to bringing some better way into this cricket if they started some better way from start and bring kids from high schools then surely they don't need this quota or anything related to this for encouraging black players but sadly their leadership have no plane for this and doing quota which never help anyone in all cases now it is badly killing game and having serious issues.
^ I don't understand why kids are not so much interested in cricket there because they have a lot of great players as examples. Kids should see them and dream of being in that position one day. But I think that you'll reason is cricket costs a lot more than football. In football, you just need a ball and you can enjoy the game. But in cricket previously you need bat ball stamps and wicket keeping gloves at least to play the game. This is a big reason why football is also much more popular than cricket.

I beg to differ SA is in a far better position than most South Asian countries. As per my understanding, there are two major problems in SA. The first is corruption and the second one big economic inequality. SA cricket board is the most corrupted board in the world and this has caused the decline in SA cricket.
^That is true because I also think that South Africa is not doing that too bad economy-wise. It's because of the corruption that is happening on the board. Everyone thinks of money but no one thinks of making a good team. Maybe the board needs a full rework and new personnel.

Wherever there is money, automatically it gets to good development or it leads to such a negative side. Often we can see cricket boards having internal problems. In recent days the most corrupt being South Africa and West Indies. There is no racial act, West Indies struggled a lot to get their salaries. Finally senior players moved out of the team. Anyhow this can be organised and made to work flawless only if the government is ready to make a complete change of the management authorities.
^ Yes absolutely because without a complete change of personnel and also applying strict laws about some certain things is not possible to make a good team and have high hopes with it. Both West Indies and South Africa were wild class teams even a few years ago but now they look like history.

During the last two decades or so, the quality of South African cricket has gone down the drain. A large part of this has to do with the race based selection policies. They have been reduced to a second string test nation, from the position of one of the most powerful teams in world cricket. During the 1990s, South Africa had legends in their team, including Donald, Pollock, Kallis, Klusener and Smith. Now they don't have any, and perhaps Dale Steyn was the last such player whom they had.
Yes, no more players are popular. But, the team has got potential players who are capable of playing good cricket. The controversy continues for a long and no conclusion has been reached. The team players seems to have unity and there is no offending in the name of race. I believe the people of South Africa are much into it, and the same might be the reason for the cricket board to do selection criteria based on race.

Pakistan is really mad for cricket and we can see that by the support they give to their players. Pakistan players will always have to agree to that.

Recently I've seen this video: https://www.facebook.com/PakistanCricketBoard/videos/1420009361734477 they got worm welcome in Bangladesh tour.
I also like the way the Pakistan cricketers acknowledged the support of their fans in the recent series in Bangladesh. Pakistan will never lose their hope in cricket in my opinion and this should also be the same case about South Africa even though I know that some other sports are popular in that country too. You know, South Africa has given us some world-class players and some great memories in cricket and we would like them to continue doing that."
