Ireland got their first win against South Africa in ODI cricket. They played a well balanced game today and deserve the victory. Although the first match was abandoned for rain but Ireland has also batted well in that match. Beside the low order batting lineup, South Africa need to improve their bowling too. Can't say how they will perform in the last ODI but I would like to keep them (Ireland) ahead in that match.

Ireland is showing a lot of improvement. Their batting is showing a lot of depth. Earlier, they would just fold up in case Paul Stirling get out. But this time, Stirling fell cheaply, and Porterfield was not available due to injury. And yet Balbirnie and Tector batted very sensibly, with Dockrell adding some quick runs in the end. And in the bowling department, Craig Young was exceptional. And South Africa should blame themselves. They took the match very casually and decided to rest both Ngidi and Quinton de Kock.

The required run rate has now climbed above 8.50 and South Africa has lost some quick wickets. Now it is Ireland's match to lose. When Rassie van der Dussen and Janneman Malan were out there, it looked as if South Africa had everything under control and it will be an easy win for them. But both of them fell in quick succession, and now South Africa is on backfoot. At this point, I also need to say that the South African lower order is not as strong as it should be. A win against South Africa would be a huge boost for Ireland.

I am enjoying the match. The outcome of the match still seems uncertain to me. I wouldn’t be surprised if South Africa lost. After 33 overs, South Africa scored 159 runs and they lost 3 wickets. They need 132 runs in 17 overs. I think South Africa will lose the match.

Is anyone watching the match between Ireland and South Africa? I had no idea the Irish team had improved themselves so much. They batted first against South Africa and set a target of 291 runs. At the moment, South Africa has managed to score 108 runs in 23 overs, losing 2 wickets. South Africa need 182 runs in 27 overs to win. Winning the match is not going to be easy for South Africa at all.

I was completely surprised to see Pakistan batting. I knew all the batsmen in Pakistan were talented, their only problem was that they could not maintain the continuity of performance. Pakistan scored 284 runs in 45 overs, losing just two wickets. Baba Azam was unbeaten on 139 and Mohammad Rizwan scored 73 off 55 balls. My guess is that Pakistan will be able to collect 325-330 runs.

Excellent batting from Pakistan. I didn't expected this fightback from them, after the poor performance in previous matches. Babar Azam was outstanding and he is about to get his 150. England bowlers suddenly look clueless, after their good performance earlier. Matt Parkinson has so far went for almost 8 runs per over. Even Craig Overton and Lewis Gregory went for more than 6 runs per over. As of now, it looks like Pakistan will end up somewhere around 350, which is going to be a daunting target for England.

From what I guessed, Pakistan could score 330 runs, but Pakistan scored 331 runs. But they lost 9 wickets. After Mohammad Rizwan, 7 batsmen together managed to score only 25 runs. Hahaha, I laughed a lot when I saw the condition of the batsmen.

We have had a lot of discussions about Pakistan's batting lineup. They are batting well today. They lost only 1 wicket in 22 overs. Although he was able to collect only 88 runs. But if the wickets of Babar Azam and Imam ul Haq fall, I have enough doubts whether the rest of the players will be able to play a good inning.

In England conditions, scoring at a rate of 4 runs per over, in the first half of the innings is somewhat OK. The important thing here is not to lose wickets. Babar Azam usually takes some time to dig in. He will accelerate later in his innings, if the other batsmen are able to provide enough support. Imam-ul-Haq is gone now, and Mohammad Rizwan is now batting along with Babar. Pakistan don't need to worry about the run rate at this point, as it stands at 4.60 runs per over. They should be careful not to lose an additional wicket.

Two ODI matches today - the third ODI in England vs Pakistan series and the second ODI in Ireland vs South Africa series. Pakistan has already lost their first two matches and will be looking for a consolation win today. With the implementation of the World Cup Super League, every ODI match now holds significance. Pakistan is in good position with 40 points from 8 matches, but another 10 points would be great for them. Now coming to South Africa, they badly needs the points. Right now they are with just 14 points from 4 matches.

When Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar were there, Pakistan's bowling lineup was one of the best in the world. Moreover, even when Afridi and Hafeez were in the team, Pakistan performed well enough. They still have a lot of talented players in their team. Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman are talented enough. But they are failing to perform regularly.

Babar Azam in the top order is somewhat consistent, but the same can't be said about the other players such as Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq. Babar Azam played county cricket last year, and that seems to have helped him. The other Pakistani players can also consider this option. Playing county cricket will give them valuable experience and it will get them acclimatized to the SENA conditions. Because I am regularly noticing some of the Pakistani batsmen having issues in surfaces that support seam movement.

Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq are all very talented players. I have seen the performances of some of their past matches. They cannot maintain the continuity of the performance. They should practice more. Good performance is not possible without practice and hard work.

Babar Azam is a consistent performer but i cannot remember a match where he performed in this series and if he fails to perform the entire team will struggle, they need to have consistent players to perform better outside the subcontinent and they have PSL and they need to find players that can perform well and play consistently rather than performing once in a blue-moon .

They are performing as expected, but they lack basic skills like batting, bowling, and fielding. Every team goes through highs and lows, problem is the moment this team wins a major match praising the "we are simply so unpredictable" nature. How long will the team keep this as a proud tag? Pakistan must concentrate on this and start requiring more consistency from all its players.

I don't think that their performance in England during this pandemic period should be taken as a yardstick. Even India struggled in England recently. I would still say that as a team, Pakistan has shown a lot of improvement recently. Their batting is still overdependent (to a degree) on Babar Azam, but others (such as Fakhar Zaman) have now stepped up their game. Also, the pace bowling department is showing a lot of maturity nowadays, after such a long gap. The pace combination of Shaheen Afridi, Hasan Ali and Haris Rauf remains a lot of people of the golden period two decades ago, when Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar used to open the bowling for Pakistan.

LOL.. another heavy defeat for Pakistan. And remember that this is against an England squad that is lacking most of the big names. Players such as Phil Salt, James Vince and Lewis Gregory would struggle to get an inclusion if the regular players are available. On the other hand Pakistan went to England with their full strength squad. Even before the start of this series, England was on top of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League. Now they have further increased the gap, with 85 points from 14 matches.

Ireland was looking good against South Africa, but then William Porterfield got out. They had an early set back, when their best batsmen (Paul Stirling) fell cheaply. But Andrew Balbirnie and William Porterfield added valuable 87 runs for the second wicket and frustrated the South African bowlers. But just when these two needed to settle down, Porterfield tried to reverse sweep Shamsi and got out. Balbirnie is still there and he needs to build a partership with Harry Tector, so that Ireland could end up at 230-250. Given the overcast conditions, the Irish bowlers will have a chance if they have such a total to defend.

True, Pakistan lost the series convincingly. Although first half of the match was really competitive between bat and ball. Both teams had their moment from time to time, at times i thought Pakistan needed the experience bowler like Amir sadly he took retirement already. Pakistan batters were more disappointing in this series and i think this is going to affect their 50 overs WC's preparation, considering they are only playing like 7-8 games after this series.
Actually Pakistan has already started practicing for the T20 Worldcup by using the ODI format. This is a strategy that they have implemented this time that every game regardless of the format before the T20 world cup will be played like a T20 match.

Anyone watching the Ireland vs South Africa ODI match? It is important for both the sides, because South Africa is currently at the rock bottom, as far as the points table in ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League 2020-2022 is concerned. They have only 9 points from 3 matches so far, while Ireland is at 10th place. Ireland has 20 points, although they have played more matches (9). Weather is also a concern, as in the past a large number of matches scheduled in Ireland/Scotland were washed out due to interruptions from rain.
