Does anyone have good experience here?
If so, can you explain why this site is so special?
The reason im asking is that im searching for new platforms.
Number one is (always) the trading volume, which obviously means smaller spreads and faster orders execution. High trading volume is especially important for high volume traders. It looks like Bitfinex is now actually topping the list of all available out there exchangers for BTC/USD (just passed Bitstamp). Second big advantage is ability to trade on margin and to short sale. Lastly, when you don't feel like trading, you can lend out your assets (except DRK) to other system users and earn variable return.
P.S. See ref code in my signature and get 10% off in fees for the first month, to try out the platform. Welcome.

Did you see this?:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/27zxcn/us_marshall_to_auction_seized_bitcoins/
US Marshal will auction out close to 30K of Bitcoins (previously seized from Silk Road) by July 1st.
Don't know when this was published on US Marshal site, but the info was on Reddit since about 10 hours ago, this is just about the time when the market went "swinging".

There is a 30 points difference in price with Bitstamp. I do not like it at all!!! Sad
I know that orders are not routed to Bitstamp any more, but I am pretty sure the routing WAS there, less then a month ago and it was for bigger orders. I would really like to see at least big orders routing re-enabled, or perhaps this could be a good time for Bitfinex team to consider their priorities in terms of Ripple withdrawals/deposits implementation, just like Bitstamp does it. This should not take too much time, especially since there are "ready to use" solutions, provided by Ripple Labs.

Another interesting observation about price difference during the current price drop, is that it may be in fact not the Bitfinex who "stayed higher" than Bitstamp, but it was Bitstamp who "went lower" that it normally should/would. This observation is based on the fact that Bitstamp went even lower than BTC-e, who historically (very long term) was always lower than anybody else by about 10 - 20 points. In other words, it looks like there is some unusually high sell off of BTC is going on at Bitstamp right now.

EDIT Gee, Bitstamp is now 10 points below BTC-e...
I does seem like bitstamp is the one that has broken it's historical place here by dropping 10 points below btc-e rather than the Bitfinex price moving higher.  It is hard to speculate on the cause for this, from the looks of the 30 minute chart it seems the price divergence started a couple days ago at around a 10 point difference and has just today spread to around 25 points.  This further price divergence looks to have taken place today around 5 hours ago when there was more selling volume on Bitstamp compared to Bitfinex.  At 6am my time the spread was 10 points and by 7:30am it was 25 points.

Any ideas as to the cause?

I've got auto-lend on with the flex rate, but my $9 of USD isn't being borrowed (despite overwhelming demand).

Previously, small amounts (<$50) would be lent out if you used the flex rate.
I believe $10 is the minimum wallet balance for auto-lending to get executed.

Is there any way to automate BTC withdrawals using the API?

At least I would like to be able to setup a script with my wallet addresses, so that I dont make a mistake/typo when doing it by hand. Other exchanges offer it, but I don't seem to see 'withdraw' in the BitFinex API spec.

You could always keep the OTP authentication (this is easy enough to generate in code, as long as you have access to your secret key).

My BTC deposit at Bitfinex is not showing up after 10 confirmations  Huh Huh

Has anyone had a similar issue?

23 confirmations and still nowhere... this is completely ridiculous. Lets hope the support team replies to my email ASAP

Bitfinex, WTF? Are you going to reply to my support ticket soon? More than half a day later my BTC are still in limbo and nobody seems to give a sh*t!!! This is making me lose money so I also hope I will receive some compensation

Issue solved. Raphael (admin) contacted me and I got compensated for the delay. Happy ending Smiley

that is very classy indeed, good job bitfinex.

With litecoin and now darkcoin they pretty much are an altcoin exchange, i dont currently own any of these alt coins but would be up for more trading opportunity.  Either way i think more coins will come cant stop the trend.  Bitcoin will be #1.

Add more crypto, namecoin, PPC perhaps

No need to add more coins. Keep it just the way it is.

Please don't turn it into an alt exchange, drk is enough. There are plenty of places to trade those coins.

CEO Bitpanda.com
I put a small amount of DRK (less than 10) and .5 BTC in Bitfinex to give it a test drive.

I'd much rather have cash as my margin basis rather than crypto but it seems the only way to do so is to place a margin order for BTC and then claim which is fine (unless there is another way).  My DRK and original .5 BTC is untradable in the Exchange (I found a workaround for BTC as state previously or perhaps its the way its supposed to work) but for DRK I'm not sure how to convert to USD?

Suggestions?  I'm sure I'm missing something simple.

You can just go to "Exchange" and then to "DRKUSD" and trade for USD.

There is no leverage possible for DRK, also it is not possible to use it as collateral.

If you wouldn't mind looking at my trade here and see what might possibly be wrong?  I'm placing a simple market order for DRK and it is "saying not balance", same thing happens on the Exchange side for BTC even though i have plenty of BTC

http://screencast.com/t/OaQkRdldHBMU

click on "manage wallets" and move the DRK from deposit account to the exchange account Wink

Bitfinex is very powerful and offers seperate wallets, so that you don't do something stupid!

Bingo!!! Thanks, answered all of my questions.  I really appreciate it, I would have eventually figured it out but who knows how long before I would have stumbled upon that.  You saved me a lot of time.

You are not the first person to miss that little detail.

Have fun on the best exchange out there!!! (by far!)
