Although I also saw it there, the Olympics are generally seen more on the open signal channels of certain countries and generally are not on certain decoders unless you are in the corresponding region and the service or cable operator offers it.

In any case, I looked at one of my STv apps that you can see or find some of those channels that offer several hours of transmission.

In the order of the bets, some soccer games were played where it was fatal to me ... Mexico surprised France and Argentina lost to Australia, with the left foot my bets, but since officially the bets begin today, sorry, the Olympic games begin today, nothing happened  Wink

I´m surprised that the cable service I possess only 1 channel was the one that transmitted the inauguration, by DIRETV in the sports channels I did not find the one that transmitted it, it is striking that this has been the Olympic Games that more money has spent, perhaps the theme of the pandemic has made it a lot more, and the most curious thing is that everything will be for TV, there will be no preset of public and the cases of Covid-19 have been increasing, it goes by the 1900s And increasing.

Maybe this list can help:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_2020_Summer_Olympics_broadcasters

As I already indicated, whoever has the possibility to watch Eurosport will be able to see practically all the competitions of the Olympic games.

Of course, betting that the US will win more medals is a sure bet. They have so many athletes, well, in almost every sport, that the probability of winning is on their side.
China and maybe Great Britain can be their tight competitors for most medal collection, USA sends a lot of athletes about 613 athletes, they always have the good athletes in almost all sports that are competed, maybe only in football they are just ordinary.
China has once won the most medals but even then because they are the hosts, after that US is back at the most medals
I guess its a pretty good bet because as we know usa in every olympic game get number one spot as you said they have a lot of quality athletes plus the number of participants and they are far ahead in the number of won medals from their competiters and it seems that this year in tokyo will not be any different.

How did the inauguration seemed? Here I share the most relevant points for those who could not see it, it should be noted that there were people Qeu expressed outside the statement and caused police bodies to be present:

The toned-down 2020 Summer Olympic Games opening ceremony highlighting Japan's grandeur, rich culture, and legacy while reflecting the gloomy atmosphere of a world ravaged by an inexorable pandemic concluded at National Stadium in Tokyo on Friday without the usual razzmatazz.

I think today is the opening of the Olympics, anyone here knows a site where we can watch free live streaming?

I check on my cable TV and unfortunately I don't see any, check also in youtube but it's not official live streaming from a trust media.

The Eurosport channel is the television channel that provides the best coverage of the games. If in your country you have access to Eurosport, you will be able to follow all the Olympic games.

You can watch it on BBC iPlayer, though you'll need a VPN if you're not in the UK.
Similarly, there are other live streaming options through their national TV broadcasters in the following countries: Ireland (RTE), France (TF1) and, Germany (ZDF and ARD).

This is true for any sport and any championship, for example, before Magnus Carlsen, chess in Norway was not even considered a sport, and then everything changed very dramatically. But there are always some exceptions, like athletes from Kenya, if I choose between them and some other middle country, then I will choose Kenya because they have a very strong school and traditions (judging by their sports results).

I guess @Joker_Josue was making reference to football activities in Olympic games rather than all sports in general, If yes, I'd agree with him. Most football teams don't come with their best players from the national team, it's an U23 event with only a few players over that age allowed within the squad. So, technically teams that have most of their best players from national side over that age limit or not a strong U23 side might fall short of the expectations which one would have had on National team.

If we talk about football, then the name of the team is actually very important, even if we do not know the specific players. Considering, for example, that there is a strong football school in Brazil and a lot of people play football, we can assume that a team of, for example, 15-year-old players will be much stronger than the same team from, say, Romania.

Damn, didn't check the 6-6-free promotions page. Was busy doing things for the summer (yard work and BBQing) so totally missed it. Embarrassed
Looks like Brazil has a comfortable lead against germany 3-0 at HT.
South Africa is holding it's own against the hosts Japan especially with them being 21.00x odds to win. So it is quite impressive.
The surprise is Argentina going down to Australia 0-2. I turned it off once it reached the 83' mark as they were on a red card since the 45' of the first half. It is their U23 squad so didn't expect to much from them.
The other matches were way to early for me to justify waking up an extra 4 hours and losing sleep to watch being a work day but seen Ivory coast beat Saudi Arabia.

That's strange but I haven't seen 6-6-free promotions in the past two times people were mentioning it. I'm pretty sure I check Sportsbet a lot and I do get a lot of 4-3-free promotions, almost I would say 3/4 every week. Wonder if they cut out certain countries from the promo? Would be pretty strange though since Olympics is even now in Asia:)

Brazil Germany would have been great to watch but I can't see anything from work:(

Given that the American Olympic team is the only one in the world without government funding, these achievements are all the more impressive.

No direct support from central government.
Colleges, schools, city communities, support from city councils and businesses devote a lot of time to supporting sport. That way they manage to have many quality athletes.

Very true and I realized this today when I was watching the match played between Brazil and Germany.

Richarlison scored a hatrick in the first 30 minutes and missed a couple of good chances which made Germany look like a team that was being taught how to play football. When I tried to see if I recognized some names, I think I saw less than 10 familiar names from both sides, Which doesn't help in building strong team's.
In the Olympic Games, young football players take part, so matches for predictions and bets are not suitable. Look at Argentina's result with Australia, Argentina lost and failed to score a single goal. In addition, France and Spain could not win that day, these are strong European teams, but they played very badly.

Among the countries that have participated in the Olympics throughout history, the United States is the one spending most time, attention, and money than anyone else and, when it comes to medals won, has dominated since 1896. There is no doubt that U.S. holds a number of records when it comes to the Olympics, including the most gold, silver, and bronze medals won individually, as well as the most medals won as a nation (a total of 2,827) in the entire history of the games.
Given that the American Olympic team is the only one in the world without government funding, these achievements are all the more impressive.

With Olympic games it isn't possible to make predictions on the win. Most players will be unknown identity, and we don't know much about their previous set of performance. I prefer to bet on China and USA, because they'll be dominant in the medals tally for sure.

That's a very general way of speaking.
They are lesser known athletes, for those who do not follow the various sports in detail. For those who like to follow, many athletes are well known and know their history.

Now, it's true that in Olympic games there is greater unpredictability. There are several surprises in certain modalities.

Thanks, that's really interesting. Whenever I see handball (only in the Olympics really), it looks like a great sport. It's not very well known here (UK) but it should be. I'd love to give it a go one day.
I have always wondered myself why the British don't play handball considering how popular it is all over Europe. But even basketball doesn't have that big of a following in the UK. No British teams participate in Euroleague, Eurocup, or the Basketball Champions League. From the top of my head, I can only remember two NBA players that I am 100% certain come from England: Ben Gordon who used to play for the Bulls and Luol Deng (not sure where he played).

Still not as fun looking as volleyball;)
Especially women's volleyball. Shocked

I guess it has to try and compete with Soccer, Rugby, Cricket, Cycling and Athlethics.
The above sports dominate the sporting calendar and draw the most participation,
revenue and interest.

It could just end up being another minority sport with limited competition and competitions,
then it would probably have the uphill battle of trying to get recognised as part of the U.K Olympic
team setup.

Olympic soccer(football) is much different than all other major soccer events.  Because the team barely resembles a typical national team it's hard to get a feel in such a small amount of time together on who would have  an advantage over the other team.  Betting on Olympic soccer seems to be a dart throw to me I wouldn't go near it.

I will definitely not be placing any bets on these Olympic games, unless I had some way of betting on which athlete would be last in the 100 meter race I would definitely bet that my country's athletes will be in last place. if before my country's athletes didn't perform well, now with covid that forced them not to train for many months I imagine they'll just shame my country

One of the curiosities is that in a few hours when the games start at the inauguration it will be broadcast by Goku and Vegueta, this because they are icons of Japan and because it is a very representative anime of Japan and with a lot of fame worldwide, many are with more eager to see the broadcast:

@toma: yeah I guess I enjoy losing a lot and try to save them all with a big upset. Didn't work out today. When is Hubbard? 5/1 looks goooood.
August 2 i think. I'd like to read what someone who follows weightlifting closely have to say about the main fav to win (1.16 odds), Li Wenwen, and Hubbard who's the second favorite in the bookies at 4 odds followed by the rest of the competitors who start at double digits odds. I'll keep an eye on the the line movement over the next few days
These are my kind of games, going against the bookies favorite ...bet on the second and third favourites and hope for the best,  by the way I have seen one or two athletes withdraw from their games because they tested positive for Corona and in such a case would the bookie pay at full odds if Wenwen was forced to pull out and my winner came from my picks??

Yeah, they're not so many familiar name in the squads, only Spain and Brazil have a bit of their squads already in the national team, Some of Spain players even played in the just concluded Euro 2020 tournament, I think Italy and England too would have a luxury of familiar players if they were in the tournament because most of their players are under 23.
