What a good fight. If Paalam don't knock down on round 1, I believe the decision will so crucial and close score but Yafai is so good to keep his score lead until the last round although he almost slipped on 3 round and just regain his center of gravity. Well played to both players and they deserved the medal they got.
Nas is too much for Carlo, we saw the match and both boxer is not giving up, in round 3 Nas is not fighting that much because he already knows that he will win because he was leading in Round 1 and 2 that’s why Nas is giving the round 3 to Carlo. Nevertheless, the fight was amazing and the result is indeed good Carlo is still a silver medalist, such a great young boxer from the Philippines.
We will also see Galal in the professional matches as he was planning after the Olympics, and it was good for him as he won the medal which makes him popular when entering professional boxing. Carlo Paalam at 23 years old, there's still more room for improvement, we might still see him in the next Olympics, and let's be hopeful that he will eventually get the gold medal.

I think the government by now should know what sports disciple to develop moving forward to the next Olympics.
Yeah, I agree on this. Instead of giving pledges to the Olympics winner why not increase the allocated budget for atlethes and construct different sports facilities for atlethes training so that they can flourish there skills properly. Philippines is good on boxing, weightlifting and other power sports because Filipino has natural talent on it. I hope the next President will gonna do it considering how impressive the performance of there atlethes.

I believe this thread is already concluded and need to be lock.

Okay, I will lock it but will give 24 hours to hear other posters opinion.

Before that, allow me to say my congratulations to Carlo Paalam though he loses in the gold medal match.
I'm a bit disappointed too as I lose my bet, but at the same time, I feel happy because he brings honor to our country.

until next time, with the remaining athletes in the Olympics, I don't expect they'll bring a medal.

I watched the game in my TV and saw the whole fight. Man, it was really heartbreaking to see Paalam fell on the first round due to the 3-punch combination that caught him off guard on the ropes. Though I do believe that the second round belongs to Paalam, the judges thought otherwise. On the third and final round, I was really hoping that Paalam would knockout Yafai but the latter played it very conservatively and safely.

Imagine, Carlo Paalam is only 23 years old and he marched his way toward to Silver. I am very excited to see the future of other sports as well because this olympics is a testament that the Philippines can excel at any sport.

The boxing in the Philippine is improving, big improvement.

Imagine, of the 4 medals, 3 of those came from boxing, and I think they'll continue to grow and improve as they have Manny Pacuqioa who have a big promotion business, so Filipino fighters will be given a lot of opportunities to showcase their skills to fight abroad and eventually improve their life if they'll succeed.

Yeah, but it was still a good performance for Paalam, it was not a shut out win as he score 1 on the five judges. Nothing to be ashamed off, he give everything he got, he just fall short.

Congrats to the Philippines, this is the most medal haul for them, 1 gold for Diaz, 2 coming from boxers Petecio and Paalam and 1 bronze from another boxer Marcial.

I think the government by now should know what sports disciple to develop moving forward to the next Olympics.

Yup, it's unwise if you base your bet for Paalam on his previous fight with Zoirov because that fight was halted due to cuts.

As I've said in my above post, I'm betting for Carlo Paalam because of his talent not because he is my compatriot  Smiley.

Win or lose, Paalam will go home a millionaire, another "from rags to riches" story that usually happens to most of the Filipino boxers including Manny Pacquiao.

Even if the fight was stopped due to a cut the score of the judges is what makes it possible for Paalam to win in the match, he is doing great in his footwork and truly deserves the nod of the judges, a win is still a win and he must not question it, this is an amateur rule, I like Paalam chances here he just beaten the defending champion, he has the momentum.

Even if it is not Japanese, this will be his toughest fight because obviously, this is for the gold medal. I'm not sure why he became the underdog though, Yafai just went through the needle last fight while Carlo won in a UD fashion.
looking at their record Carlo Paalam has more bouts and wins compared to Galal Yafai but between the two Galal Yafai has been more active than Carlo Paalam.  I guess they either based it on their medal count, who has more recent fights in the ring or it's just that Galal Yafai is just far more popular than Carlo Paalam. anyway, being an underdog isn't really that bad.
I believe we should based on the current performance, Paalam beat the defending champion and that's a big thing in sports.

We have a lot of bettors for Paalam here as this thread has a lot of Filipino fans and we know this is only the 2nd gold of the Philippines if Paalam will win.
I hope he will not feel the pressure, just play his game,  and be smart as every throw and hit counts.
I will go for Galai Yafai as the winner of tomorrow's fight despite how Paalam beat the previous Olympic gold medal holder (Shakhobidin Zoirov) but I don't know if you notice that the athletics expected to do something wonderful in this Olympic games some of them don't lift up to expectation. The same thing happen in the men's tennis game when Djokovic which everybody thought will be the gold medal winner was defeated by A. Zverev.

What I am trying to say is that don't use Paalam's fight with Shakhobidin Zoirov to decide the outcome of his fight with Galai Yafai.

Definitely, because each fighter is different, "style makes fight", so the outcome might be different.

On the contrary, your analogy is flawed as well, Djokovic is the favorite, but he lost, in this match Yafai is the favorite. So if we go with your argument, then Yafai will lost in this fight.  Grin.

Anyway, goodluck to all bettors, regardless of you who chooses to win.

Wow, this is an interesting platform they are supported the Olympic games feel sad I didn't see this immediately just trying to bet one of our representatives in my country which is Carlo Paalam and he owns a medal even though it's not a gold medal still it's a support and entertainment to fellow Filipino fighting in the Olympics. Yafai so too much aggressive on their match still deserve to win congrats to all winners of the Olympics and the bettors.
There’s still another match today which Carlo aims for the gold, they both deserve to be on that position but only one boxer will claim the title and I hope it’s Carlo because he’s a great boxer. This will be another historic win by Filipinos for sure, another Gold for the Philippines, let’s claim it.

It's not Silver either lol. The fight will be held this afternoon, 2 PM Philippine time to be exact. Have not seen the whole fight of Yafai but IMO, this is very winnable by Carlo Paalam because this guy has talent. He is quick and not easy to hit which is a very important factor in the Olympic style of boxing.

Have already place my bet here not because Carlo is my compatriot but the possibility of winning is too high because of his talent.

If you watch his fight with Tanaka, you will see a very good footwork on that match. So hopefully, that footwork will help him win over Yafai. The odds are good as he is underdog, so it is good to bet also. If he wins, another gold for Philippines. He will be making a history for his country.
Let’s pray for another gold and hopefully a good fight for Carlo, he done a very good job on this Olympic and if he was able to showcase his talent one last time, gold is waiting for him and so much opportunities will come to him. He’s a good fighter, though his opponent is also a good one but then again those who punches more will have a higher chance to win, I hope Carlo will stay active all through out the round.

I'm interested in betting on this game as I believe in our representative, this is a Semi-Final fight of Men's Flyweight.

here are the information of two boxers.

Carlo Paalam  - https://boxrec.com/en/amateurboxer/863095

Ryomei Tanaka- https://boxrec.com/en/amateurboxer/855559

the fight is already listed in sportsbet but the odds are not yet available. Please check from time to time.

Just wait for the odds to become available, and for the main time just review on both boxers which you think will have the best potential.
Odds only got basis on that position, so doing it on our personal perspectives will also be a good factors in order to win on every bets.

What you say has some truth in the fact that Japan is more aggressive when it comes to betting. You've taken the options into account so it's really good for some pretty reasonable reasons. But we will see a boxing match that is completely dominated by the hosts. japan has 1 point for this.
just want to update you that the fight between Carlo Paalam and Ryomei Tanaka is finished with Carlo Paalam winning by Unanimous Decision. Carlos Paalam is now advancing to the Finals to fight Gala Yafai tomorrow at 2 pm (Japan time). the OP will also update the thread tomorrow with the betting odds for Carlo Paalam and Galal Yafai.

The betting odds were already posted on the past page.
Good news, Carlo Paalam is underdog in sportsbook.

Check the betting odds here https://sportsbet.io/sports/event/boxing/international/olympic-tournament/paalam-carlo-yafai-galal-610ba6c257dc6c61eae9bc58

Better put your bet early guys, who knows the odds might flip.

You can still follow the link for the update odds, but as I check, it barely moved, so this is still good for bettors who are looking for a good value betting on the underdog.
