That's right. I personally knew two guys who had a very strong gambling addiction. They repeatedly lost their entire paychecks in the slots and pawned gold chains, bracelets and rings at the pawnshop. Their craving for gambling was so strong that they not only didn't think about the consequences, but they consciously committed crimes in order to spend a little more time playing slots.

I haven't met them in over 10 years, but I know that one of them died of drug addiction and I don't know the fate of the other.
^ I hate to hear this kind of addiction that craving on gambling because I remember when my father was in a good financial status before. But because of his gambling addiction, he lost almost everything he had including his family when my mother attempt to file a devorse case against him but luckily it stopped when he committed a promise to reduce his gambling activity. That is why I always remember to have a moderate gamble of what you can afford, gambling is good but chasing money on it is not good. Nevertheless, everything now is online due to the pandemic and I am sure it will reduce those who craving in gambling because there is no way to go into the casino.

But yes, the reason you continue to gamble online is because you still have a lot of money and time to spend on online gambling, but if that supply runs out then I'm sure you will slowly realize the need to take a break from online gambling.
Your advice is very good, and it may be true in most cases. But not all, I have also seen many cases, in my life, even online gambling and real-life gambling, there are many people who still gamble even when they don't have a lot of money, which is extremely bad and it has huge consequences for both them and their family members. Especially every time the big football seasons take place, for example Euro, World Cup. Lots of people have to sell their homes, even die, online gambling may not have such a big effect, but it will run out of money.

If it is true that someone is still playing gambling, even though he doesn't have the money to play gambling, this could be a big problem.
The effect can be dangerous for the person's life, even that person can make their family members experience problems. So my advice is
that if we don't have the money to play gambling, maybe because of the impact of the pandemic. It is better if we stop gambling for a while,
until our finances get better again.
The situations will become worst if he borrows money from other people and uses it for playing gambling and he loses that money. It will make him confused about how he can repay the borrowed money. He will have two problems simultaneously: he becomes addicted to gambling and will have a debt to other people. If he can not solve all of his problems, I am afraid that will make him frustrated. Stopping gambling will be recommended as we need to save money for our daily needs, which are more important than just playing gambling.

  • Social distancing should not lead to social isolation, so talk to your friends and peers and discuss your gambling problem with them. Having support can make a big difference.
This one is particularly important, as for the past year many people have stayed isolated and, while some may prefer it and even see it as a benefit, for many people, it's been stress they were not prepared for.

It's a common belief, that gambling is triggered by greed and too much excitement over such games, but the reality is that a large portion of gamblers is doing it out of boredom, loneliness, and a sense of isolation. Gambling serves them as entertainment and a distraction from the problems and such people are more likely to become addicted, due to this consolation they seek in gambling.

Even years ago it's been common knowledge, there's an interesting study, which was conducted back in 1998 when people used to gamble with EGM, that shows that among problem gamblers are more likely to experience boredom and loneliness as compared to non-gamblers or non-problematic gamblers.
I'm sorry but I don't think it's specific to gambling, many other activities could be done alone without friends, like video gaming, reading, watching TV, cooking, running, etc so I think it's big bullshit to say that "a large portion of gamblers is doing it out of boredom, loneliness, and a sense of isolation". I don't think this portion is larger than in other lonely activities, it's just some anti-gambling propaganda, gamblers mostly gamble to try to earn big money, that's it.
I can see your point, but I suspect that you are not seeing mine. Of course not everyone when bored will engage with gambling right away. There are many other activities, as you've listed them, to engage with out of boredom. No way I was trying to spread "some anti-gambling propaganda", oh no. I myself am promoting a gambling site after all. I would rather agree with you that gamblers mostly gamble to try to earn big money, but that part which is left, although a minority, is a huge one, it's millions of people, tens of millions probably. For those people the coronavirus pandemic has made things worse, the risks of becoming gambling addicts have increased for them.
Yes you're promoting a gambling site as you say that's why I don't understand why you are criticizing people who gamble and relaying the common anti-gambling propaganda(that's not the first post I read from you with this kind of speech). I suspect you to dislike gambling actually. Undecided

The most effective method is about determination and strong intention, it's useless even if you are advised to take other activities with the aim of forgetting gambling but if it is not accompanied by determination and strong intention, then this method or advice will not work. Unless, if there is a friend who can continue to force you to leave the house, it is possible that this forced method will keep you away from online gambling. But yes, the reason you continue to gamble online is because you still have a lot of money and time to spend on online gambling, but if that supply runs out then I'm sure you will slowly realize the need to take a break from online gambling.

In fact, if you start another activity, it takes your time (and often money), therefore, to some extent, it can replace gambling addiction. This advice is not bad at all. In fact, this is replacing one addiction with another, but if that other addiction is safe, then why not. And if this is a addiction on playing sports or even on some profession, then it can become useful.

There are many reasons why people have a gambling addiction.
If you are addicted to gambling and did try and give up in spite of giving the best of your efforts and are still not successful in overcoming the urge to keep playing, it is time to get yourself to professional help. Get yourself to a therapist or a psychologist to get rid of your addiction.
It's the last option if there's no improvement if someone cannot do it on his own. But just give it a try and you'll be happier that you'll be able to overcome it with your alternative solutions.

But yeah, if there's really no use doing it alone better to do it with the help of those professionals.

This could benefit those who keep gambling, particularly now, when, as you said, most gamblers are spending 24/7 in their homes gambling due to the pandemic, making them more vulnerable to gambling addiction. It's a serious problem that most of us can't even regulate or discipline ourselves when it comes to gambling because we have the mentality of making a quick buck. May I consider defi trading to be a form of gambling as well? If that's the case, money drive us insane. It keeps me investing in coins that have no guarantee of going x2. So be cautious about something that involves money because it will make us greedy for profit, particularly now that the pandemic has hit and we don't have any good sources of income; many people have lost their jobs, and they are thinking of gambling to benefit rather than saving.
I agree with that mate and I think it could not just benefit for those who gambling, but also for all individual who want to keep their day productive, improve psychological well being and make stable mental health. Gambling is addicting it's like taking drugs. To help cope with addiction it need serious therapy. One of the reason why people get addicted to gambling because they think in a way to get money instantly and when they lose a lot they keep doing if to get back their money. So people should be careful when involves money because it's truly really hard to earn money.
Majority of us are really striving to earn income on any source that we can possibly engage this is why we shouldnt really waste up those things just for gambling.

Addiction is indeed hard to get away from it once it had already overcome into yourself.Risk of getting addicted is high if you do keep engaging with gambling

even if you know that your funds arent really that sufficient on day to day living. So you should really be careful and be aware.

I can't agree more.

I mean the boredom that we are all experiencing right now because there are still places that people can't go outside because of the virus, and not doing anything that could entertain us is making us crazy, therefore people are enjoying playing gambling or anything that keeps them busy as their pastime. However, the outcome of such habit like playing online gambling when the time you woke up until you fall asleep is alarming and not productive anymore.

It's not bad to keep ourselves entertain but I think having a limit is good to keep us from addiction.
- Boring days with the pandemic can increase the pressure on us to break ourselves, what I mean here is that our time in gambling will increase at an alarming rate, a few sleepless nights gambling is probably not uncommon this season, people are too idle with money and internet. It's probably fine to stop here, it's just about addiction and will subside once the pandemic is over but the point is still money and online casinos, casinos are boosting profits during the Covid season, their cemetery expansion productivity will soar, many people are losing

I don't think that trading and gambling are the same thing. Sure both of these can be addicting but there are lot of differences. For example, with gambling we know our odds beforehand and we are either losing or winning, there is no stalemate or something like that. As for trading, we are not only winning and losing. The price can move against us, but as long as we are not selling we are not making a real loss. We still have the coin and can just hold it for a long time until the price recovers. This doesn't mean however that we don't need to protect ourselves from addiction, both trading and gambling addiction is very serious.
Why exactly do you think that trading and gambling are different from each other? Are you only reffering to short term or lond term trading? I mean trading long-term can be seen as some kind of investment, but in the short term luck plays the higher role and you can only make money if and only if you have inside information.

  • When you are tempted to gamble online, use that to motivate you to go for a walk or exercise instead.
  • If you decide to gamble, you should keep a record of how much money and time you spend on gambling daily. Studies show that gamblers lose track of how much time and money they spend on gambling.
  • Social distancing should not lead to social isolation, so talk to your friends and peers and discuss your gambling problem with them. Having support can make a big difference.
  • Finding other mental stimulation to keep your mind busy can be very helpful in suppressing thoughts of gambling. If you need to be online then seek out online activities that help you to overcome the urge to gamble.
  • Seek expert advice if you feel your gambling activities are getting out of hand. BeGambleAware.org is a very good place to start.

Does any of these methods work for you? How do you keep a rein on your gambling habits?
Yes that is all correct. Well online gambling is good in a way that it may be a solution to depression, anxiety or being too lonely because of being too far away from your loved ones due to pandemic. But we should know how to balance our life, our everyday living. Stop gambling if we do not have enough money to buy our needs because instead of becoming a solution it may also lead to a more serious problem. Too is bad in all aspects in life.
Method that works for me is having a daily exercise. Lately I noticed I am not getting enough nutrients from the food I eat and I am gaining weight so I decided to exercise everyday.
