great article.  gambling addiction is a serious thing, without the person's control, he/she will move all his/her assets to the gambling table without thinking....Recently a neighbor of mine got divorced because her husband became addicted to lottery gambling during this pandemic.

This is serious stuff, if you change from an ordinary gambler to a gambling addict then consult a psychiatrist immediately.

if you warn those people, we can't do anything with it as they've decided to do it. And they might going to stop only if they've realized that it's not doing them getting any better.
Every advice/recommendation works that way; it may end up effective changes or may go up all in vain as well. But, being a gambler and seeing others how they are slowly moving toward the point of getting gambling addictions the we cannot simply move-on; we will try to warn those naive gamblers and then it is up to them to listen or ignore. Only suggesting/warning alone we can provide and not everyday care and and awareness.

Still, I believe if we warn people regularly then they may start realizing the hidden truth behind our words. If you notice, this forum and gamblers from this community is continuously warning against gambling addictions and I am sure many people might have benefitted from that.

Many young people spend their free time playing online games, but when they grow up they realise that they have wasted it. I would advise you to devote part of your free time to self-education, which would further help to stand more firmly on his feet and get a high-paying job that you like. In today's world, you can work online as much as you like.

Online gaming is a popular pastime among many, not just young people. For some, it's an escape from harsh reality, a way to blow off steam and relieve stress, or a way of coping with mental disorders such as anxiety or depression. In the same way that people read books, watch movies, listen to music, or participating in other hobbies for relaxation, many people use video games in the same way.
Although such recreational activities can also become addictive, I still believe that they are not as dangerous as gambling because they rarely include a financial component.

Not making things complicated is the more comfortable thing to do.

I think that's the whole point. To deal with gambling addiction, you need to be pushed out of your comfort zone.

Social distancing should not lead to social isolation, so talk to your friends and peers and discuss your gambling problem with them. Having support can make a big difference.

It will work but sometimes, once a gambler is now slowly turning their activity into addiction, they won't notify anyone about it. The friends or closest ones need to take the action first on that case.
That can happen if their friends or closest one know about his addiction and he can approach him and tell him that he needs to solve his addiction. If it is not, that gambler will not solve his addiction and go deep into the gambling games without a chance to solve the addiction problem. That needs courage from the gambler to tell about his addiction to help him solve it.

Very good points mentioned and was a worthy read. Actually some of them I have done in real life so I was able to connect with them fully.

When you are tempted to gamble online, use that to motivate you to go for a walk or exercise instead.
Exactly what I did when earlier I was gambling too much, I started to go to my gym when I felt the urge of gambling and once I return from the gym I was exhausted which eventually helped me avoid gambling too much.

At times when it was not possible to go to the gym, I would just do some exercises at home and find some way to tire myself out.
That only means that you're a very disciplined person and really wanting to avoid to gamble because you're doing something to sort out your problem when it's urging you to gamble. Just like the quotes that we used to hear, "if there's a will, there's a way". There's not that much excuses if you really want to help yourself and avoid the risk of pushing yourself to gamble because, you are aware of what you can do and you know yourself better.

If you decide to gamble, you should keep a record of how much money and time you spend on gambling daily. Studies show that gamblers lose track of how much time and money they spend on gambling.
It is hard to actually keep track because like I said, once you start gambling you don't have much idea about what you are doing. It's like consuming alcohol and avoiding getting dizzy Grin.

But yeah if you can, having a written record of the money you are spending helps you restrict it. Still, I feel everything may go as expected and might seem like everything under control until you are not addicted but once you become addicted to gambling then everything may start looking like complete different.

Changing your perspective on gambling probably helps the most. Stop viewing it as a get rich quick scheme - it is purely entertainment.
This is the perspective that's hard to be changed in some people. Yes, the pandemic hits and many people got hit on their jobs.

And if someone has a background in gambling, he would probably say that he'll just gamble as a way to survive and basically that's wrong. But those gamblers who have been living on it for a long time, there's no question with them.
When it comes to desperation times then there would be people to think on that gambling would be the holy grail and saving up themselves though gambling
which is really a very wrong mindset and believe to have this is why its better to look for another alternative which wont connect out to gambling because
instead of earning money then you would just basically losing it up instead and making yourself even way more poorer and would be in problems in terms of
financial. So its better not to make this is an option because this would be the most stupidest decisions that you would make in your entire life.
You just can't stop those people that have been doing it and done it already.

It may look odd and bad if we look at it but even if you warn those people, we can't do anything with it as they've decided to do it. And they might going to stop only if they've realized that it's not doing them getting any better.

As we stay at home more it is inevitable that we will spend more time online, on social media, and online games. Several research studies have demonstrated that online gambling companies have benefited greatly as a consequence of this.

Yes, they are, but as responsible parents and family members we should know our limitation, we are in a pandemic and the economy from almost all countries are not doing good, and there's a possibility that we can get CoVid and get you hospitalized you should still limit the time and the money you allocate this is an uncertain time and a perilous one.
The problem here is that, most of the gambler didn't share to their family members that they gamble due to their personal reason so it is still a must to have self-control and always be responsible as a gambler, online gambling makes us more prone to addiction because of its accessibility. This pandemic makes a lot of changes into our lives, but it doesn't mean that you need to gamble that much, stay focus and always have limitations.
Unfortunatelly many gamblers who don't share their hobby to their families are the ones who suffer from addiction and will hardly be able to control themselves and be responsible when gambling. This situation is boosted by the pandemic and becomes worse as social interactions become less frequent and people tend to stay at home isolated also from their family members.
Those guidelines provided by OP are very important and I think it's already a matter of public health. Instead of forbidding gambling, governments should be working with public campaigns to promote those hints and advices to the population in general, so such informations can reach to problem gamblers who are not active in forums like this.

This doesnt apply to rich people because they are financially capable on doing things that they do like or something they do have in mind and no one can stop them

but for those who are just earning on average income then we would really be minding off on how to use up our money in more sensible way or manner for us to sustain.

Its just dumb for someone to consider gambling as a source of income amidsts of this pandemic situation but hey there are actually people who do have these kind of thoughts.

It's all about self-control really. Long as you know when to draw the line with online gambling, you should be good to go when gambling. As OP suggested, do something else that will distract you from the urges of gambling when you feel like you're succumbing to addiction. Exercise, do something that is entirely unrelated to gambling so as to not give you any hints and ideas while you're abstaining from betting.
Do all that or just realize that gambling is meant for fun and is not a way to earn money. Once you find the real purpose of any activity it becomes easier to control it and manage it properly. Gambling is meant only for fun so if that is clear in your mind, there is no need to do all that. Having priorities in life is important hence most of the gamblers are students because they are not married and they don't have a definitive goal so once they gamble, they just get carried away.

And if someone has a background in gambling, he would probably say that he'll just gamble as a way to survive and basically that's wrong. But those gamblers who have been living on it for a long time, there's no question with them.
I was thinking people might be saving more and avoiding gambling and spending money carelessly during pandemic times but it seems like because of the time void created by the pandemic people are finding ways to keep themselves busy which in turn hikes things like online porn, gambling, movies, etc.

If you come think of it, playing online is like working at home, once people get used to the online system, then it would be very hard for them to go back to their old ways, going to casinos to gambling establishments and what have you. Of course you know that not everybody has the right mindset in terms of gambling so even the novice and the amateur gamblers will easily access online gambling websites and be prone to mistakes and wrong judgment in playing resulting to big amounts of money being lost. Addiction to gambling should also be considered when it comes to playing at home.

First of all it is good to bring knowledge and post in favor of the area where we are.

It doesn't matter what type of player you are, recreational, non-recreational, you have to know yourself,  learn to know our abilities and also our weaknesses,  on gambling and mental.

So several things can be done; sometimes the excells sheet is not enough, even statistical programs, so write on a paper your game statistics, just do it.

Then take five minutes before playing to see your statistics, even make decisions based on that; e.g. like playing lot/bit time, betting level and even no play, the casino is going to be there tomorrow.

By the way, this not only applies to casino games, but also roll games, free online games, apps, consoles ... so even if you want to play some game, use a traditional board game.

You have to face reality, if you can accept not playing today, you dominate the game and the game does not dominate you.

I'm going to quote another phrase that I just wrote:

...//..,,,The good player does not end his game because he is on a bad streak or retires on a positive streak for fear of losing what he has won, but because it is time. ::://:::

this is like working from home, people get used to it and it may be difficult to return to the old ways, not that there´s that many people who really want to do so anyway. Some people will be more at risk when playing at home and some others will actually become less addicted. Playing at home is easy and accessible and sometime better, however you do have distractions and you are likely to be interrupted, unless you live alone and play at night. The real life playing places are designed to avoid interrupting the players, so they can become a player trap.
Why talk about traps, gambling is not designed that way, it was designed as entertainment, if we are not responsible, then that's the time that we will fail. Gambling sites will offer this game, we should know our chances so we will know how to handle ourselves.

The rate of gambling addiction has increased, not because of the sites but because of our irresponsible gambling, that's it, no blaming.
