Topic: Oscar Awards 2020 betting (Read 1337 times)

Not my favorite as well and it may be the same views of so many gamblers and betting sites who make such discussion s about different movies and moviemakers so it's all about the one who is doing the best. So it's my own views that parasite should be nominated in the list of best oscar award movies I hope it will win it this year and will be the best movie in 2020 oscar award

I've already put my choice here and everything missed (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.53614793).  I didn't expect "Parasite" to win in the Best Picture, Best Director, International feature films & Best original screenplay.  This is very good progress for the South Korean film industry.

The judges have their own reasons why they've chose Parasite to win several titles. It's all worth it and they deserve it and I think this will push the Koreans and other neighboring countries to create more quality films. There's a purpose one they've won and this will encourage many of the filmmakers to make films quality over quantity. We will see if next Oscars, we'll see another Korean film or it will be from another country this time.

This might be the case too, it might be the part of Hollywood agenda, or simply opening to the world, as some great  foreign directors in the past never had chance to win best picture. So even if it might be a part of some  agenda, it is still not a bad move as Parasite is a good movie and worth giving Oscar ( not my favorite tho).


I don't like any list  of Bong best films that doesn't have Memories of Murder at the top. That's a true masterpiece, and by far his best film, followed by Mother, and then Parasite at the 3rd place.


There are few other South Korean directors  beside Bong that are good starting point if someone wants to go deeper into South Korea cinema:
Ki-duk Kim: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring (2003), Pieta (2012), 3-Iron (2004), Address Unknown (2001)
Chan-wook Park:Oldboy, The Handmaiden (2016), Joint Security Area (2000), Thirst (2009)
Chang-dong Lee: Burning (2018)- for me the best Korean movie in the last few years, but unfortunately didn't even get Oscar nomination for foreign film,  Oasis (2002), Peppermint Candy (1999), Secret Sunshine (2007)

Considering the fact that Tarantino said that he will  (probably) make  only 10 movies, and we are at number 9 at the moment (he doesn't count My Best Friend's Birthday),  he  might end up  career without winning best picture Oscar, and join group of some great names like Hitchcock, Kubrick, Kurosawa, Leone, Welles, Fellini, Altman etc. I wouldn't thought so after watching Pulp Fiction back in 1994/1995, i was certain this guys wins an Oscar soon.

I think Parasite winning was part of the diversity meta thats been a thing in recent years, on a number of vectors.    So this year it was multi cultural and we broke a 90 year trend of mainly favouring USA, everything in the world has self bias so I never really blamed the Oscars for being quite clearly leaning towards its own films every year.    The odds were better then rated for this reason though, so I picked parasite but only as an outsider underdog bet.   Paid off all my losing bets and some extra

But films like that give them a lot of money so they can continue to produce films as well.

I think the judges have other opinions why Parasite won an Oscar and could the foreign film give a different feel to other holywood films, It also provides another assessment for South Korea which is more famous for K-POP.

I think the other film was just better than the other nominees but they are also good in sci-fi movies too. 
Maybe the criteria today was changed for some reasons, I don't know how they choose but it's the majority that says the film was worthy to take all of those awards.

i have watched Parasite, and for me, it is not much of a movie, story is unusual, but acting is not that good at all, and these kind of stories you can watch in a tele-novela always, this is just extremely shown with murders at the end, and tele-novela do not have violent scenes at all, but these kind of stories are there

i don't think that American movies are less creative now it just happen that foreign movies are very productive and really competent enough to Beat Big names in movie industries,and also this is a Proof how Functional Oscars in regards Choosing the right winner in each categories.

There are good American movies, I do not criticizing American movie is justified here.

Bong Joon-ho is a great visionary and an awesome director. It was unfortunate that his earlyier movies were never selected for Oscars. Some of his must see movies are Mother 2009, Snowpiercer 2013  and Okja 2017. Mother 2009 is Korean movie, you should watch this movie first.

Yeah Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the legandary actors  and it's really tough to compete with these guys but it's nice to know that newer actors are now showing what they've got just only to prove thier worth , like this guy joaquin and his joker movie .  

11 category nomination  is alot  .  Before I have voted for this movie but I didn't know back then that it has 11 nomination but now , after knowing it , I am now more confident with my pick  .

@passwordnow. A foreign movie winning best picture, best director and best foreign film makes it appear that american cinema is not as creative as it used to be. They are presently only good in creating action comic book movies hehehe.

In any case, watch Snowpiercer from the same director as Parasite. The cinematography goes from left to right when the characters go from a lower social class to higher instead of bottom to top similar to Parasite hehe.

It's okay man hehe. Yes, I forgot to mention about winning the best director so that's another impact and exciting part why this movie has won many titles.

I have seen post on social medias that "if you're looking for a great movie, watch this" and that got me thinking because I have no idea of that movie before but now it makes more interesting.

yeah Best original Music score is one of the award taken by joker but the most important one is the Best Actor that has a very tough competition against Leonardo DiCaprio .

Joaquin Phoenix still get the Award and he really deserves this as i have watched the Joker couple of times(but Leo is also very competent in this category).

and that 11 categories nomination is a proof of how good the movie was.

For Oscar 2020 the Joker has been dominated the categories with 11 categories including the best picture and the best actor but so far of i'm not mistaken this movie only can win for 2 the categories for the best actor and the best original songs but i have to says this movie was very succesful and Joker can surpassing superheroes popularity as the villain

also have not watched the movie but friend of mine tells me it is a good but did not expect to win over the best Hollywood actors,directors and Teams this is remarkable because i only expect them to be at least nominated is the highest they can get but now?WOW this is amazing Job and very unexpected scene in Oscars Night of awarding for sure.

i am expecting at least Once upon a time,Joker,1917,jojo rabbit and midway will take more awards and will dominate the whole Night.as i have already watched these movies and really all are great.

@passwordnow. Parasite also won best director which was very surprising for it to win the 2 categories if it was also nominated and won the best foreign film category.

The movie Parasite has won this year's Oscars best picture. I still haven't watched the movie so it got me thinking if it's worth to watch. And for the best actor Joker, Joacquin Phoenix won it. Congratulations to the bettors who won also with their picks for the oscars.

I let you in on a secret, safe odds are over rated because the pay off vs the risk of it not actually winning makes it a bad bet all round.   You cannot really win anything because it requires too much capital risked to get anything back.    I really dont like the odds that come with popular choices, avoid it imo unless you have certainty of that choice.   Worst thing in the world is to form an opinion based on many others agreeing or recommending a choice, I mean this for all sorts of mainstream or sports type bets.   I really think good value bets can come with unpopular and the unknown but I guess its harder and requires alot of patience to skip where there is no good choice.
