This man is a certified couch potato. He knows his movies hehehe!

What would be your bets on the best costume design, best visual effects and best original score?

That's not far from truth, i do watch a lot of movies  Grin

For best costume design i would go with Little Women, for the best original score 1917 and for the visual effects i am kinda torn between 1917 and this latest SW film. While 1917 is for me the best movie of the year when it comes to tehnical aspects and the one i enjoyed the most in the cinema, so i would give it Oscar for effects too, but that's just my opinion. Bare in mind that i haven't seen Avengers:Endgame yet as i am not fan of those movies, and that one might be strong candidate too, maybe even bigger than the one  i mentioned.

Leo already got his oscar after so long and he has one, hell academy maybe just gave him one so people would shut up because I honestly think that he played in much better movies that he didn't won any.

It's not just about whether he played in better movies when he didn't win Oscar (tbh for me Revenant is better than Aviator, Wolf of the Wall Street and Blood Diamond), what it matters is competition too. In 2004, Jamie Foxx was simply better in the "Ray". In 2007, Forrest Whitaker won, but it was kinda weak year, and wouldn't have been mistake if Leo won, or any other actor for that matter. In 2014 McConaughey kicked ass, no one else had any chance.
Imho, in 2015 that Oscar he won was well deserved, and not a compenstaion, despite what some people were talking. He did a good job there, and competition wasn't too tough either (i liked Fassbender in Steve Jobs , i think he also did a good job there.
And this  year, it will be between Phoenix and Driver,  and as long as Academy chooses one of those two, they won't miss.

Leo already got his oscar after so long and he has one, hell academy maybe just gave him one so people would shut up because I honestly think that he played in much better movies that he didn't won any. Joaquin Phoneix (dude has the coolest name ever) is the favorites in all sportsbooks for a reason, dude played in basically the most oscar movie ever oscared in oscars history, he will 100% get it for sure without a doubt. I have literally seen 1.01 for his win as odds, the worst I have seen was 1.20, that literally means he will get it without a doubt.

However, if we had to really pick anything else, I would still pick Adam Driver over Leo, leo was good and all but Adam Driver literally played his role out of park so good, for a dude who was a Marine while others worked on their theatre, he sure is better than most of the competition.

Sometimes it becomes which nominee was more popular among his peers for that given year, not how good his or her performance was in the film. In the best actor category, I reckon the winner is chosen by members of the academy who are also actors.

Comedy movies played by funny actors is worthy for our praises, and I hope there will be chances for them to enter the sets of winners for this Oscar awards. I can't give any further preference to which of them may go into the judges choices, but what I am wishing for that the deserving character must be given this kind opportunity for an award.
Wait, what? Mate I think you're a little bit confused (or it'e just me who got wrong interpretation). This year's Joker, with its lead actor Joaquin Phoenix, is not a comedy movie. It's genre is thriller with a twist of psycho Cheesy.

Anyway, I also tink Joaquin deserve an Oscar's because he portrayed Joker very well which is very obvious on its ticket sales. But I'm just wondering what if the pulse of the mass will not be heard? A lot of people will get mad for sure Grin.

you said he already won ? why not give chance to others ? other that didnt experience to win a title yet . if he didnt win it does not mean that he is a bad actor but what if im only right ? that judges give chance to other actors to make them proud and worthy so that they can do thier best next time .

I have a family tradition of watching Oscars live (in my country it's at 3 am) every year, and prior to that watching as many movies as we can and predict the winners in each category. I've been placing predictions before, but never with putting my money on Oscars. Perhaps, it's about time I start, but so far I have not been good at predictions, to be honest Grin
Nitrogensports has quite a shady reputation, though, so I don't know whether it's the best website for this... I would use Sportsbet.io, but I don't see Oscars predictions there (I guess it's fair since it's not really a sport). Anyone here who can name a reputable website that accepts bets on Oscars in BTC?
P.S. Pretty sure Joker's getting the Best Movie award.

Weird tradition to have to watch oscars with family but I actually also remember the same when I was very young! Back then of course we did not have computers and phones and devices,,, no internet just radio and television so I guess most families gathered around to watch something. When it was live it was even better but we actually watched the delayed telecast, but it was still a surprise (no internet?).

No bets for me. I have not even watched a single of those movies, how will I know who wins:)
Its not actually weird yet there were people who do really love to watch these awards together with their families (not common somehow).
Even now we do have internet but family bonding times like this do exist.  Cheesy

Some do like to bet on Oscars but majority wont and i dont know what makes them not to be interested about but honestly speaking
winning a bet in oscars is hard basing on experience.

I already gave my choices on previous page.No need to repeat it.

i have just watched jojo rabbit last night and it is a good movie but i dont think they are getting any awards on those main  category .
Jojo Rabbit is a good movie, (like all others from Taika Waititi, i suggest everyone to check his older movies, especially What We Do In The Shadows) but for me it is not Oscar material, in any category.

i teared twice in 1917 movie, the first is when his Buddy died because of saving enemy's ass from the plane crash
and last is when he done Heroic job just trying to save the whole garrison from being salvaged and continuously when he met His Buddy's Brother and handed the dog tag and the ring.
For me few scenes stand out in 1917:
-Scene where Blake and Schofield watch dogfight, and then plane goes down
-Night scene with ruined French town
-Soldier singing "Wayfaring Stranger" in the woods before attack. Very touching scene, probably best one in the film for me.
Perfect film to watch in cinema if possible, it would be shame to watch that home on TV.

For personal reasons I would like it if Parasite was the winner for BEST PICTURE 4.33

Parasite is for me top 5 last year, and even though it isn't best film of the year for me, I wouldn't mind  if it wins Oscar, as i love pretty much everything what Bong Joon Ho makes. And it would also set precedent, as foreign film never won Oscar for best picture (Roma should have been first one last year).

I have been considering betting on Oscar for quiet a while now, and I’ll soon decide how much funds I can spare and bet on this. The following are my predictions:

1) In the best picture category I would select Joker because I loved that film, and I truly believe that it deserves to win.
I've watched the Joker and I have nothing to say about the movie coz it was great. I just want to comment on how it reflected to me, it seems like Joker shows that life has no ultimate meaning and it rejects the good principles in short it was about negativity. I don't know how would the judges choose among great movies, I don't know their criteria some might and might not agree on me. Many claim that this is the movie of the year but have they watched the rest of nominees? like Parasite from Korea I guess they didn't.

2) For the Best Actor Award I’ll choose Joaquin Phoenix, and I believe many of you’ll will feel the same way too ain’t i right?
I think you only watched a single movie among the nominees, Indeed Joaquin Phoenix did a spectacular acting on that movie to the point that he owns the whole movie but frankly speaking Leonardo DiCaprio deserves the best actor award for the second time. Betting on this kind of choices is pretty hard though, I'd rather not to give it a call.

I already appreciated Joaquin Phoenix's acting when he acted as the prince in the move Gladiator and he is so good acting his character as a villain. I realize that he is perfect for the Joker character and he really executed it very well. That's why he well-deserved the Oscar Awards and I bet most of my money to him because I guarantee that he did his best while filming The Joker. Leonardo is a great actor but this time, Joaquin really killed it. I'm looking forward for more of spectacular movie of him, maybe if he wins, that will not be the last.

I've just watched an episode of Honest Trailers when they analyzed Joker. And the one thing that stayed in my mind was something about the skills of Joaquin Phoenix. He laughed maniacally. He laughed while crying. He laughed normally. He laughed as an effect of a disease. And he did all this at once.

If he's not gonna get The Oscar, there's something wrong with a world. #sorryleo

i think still Joker star and Leonardo de Caprio will battle for the best actor award and best movie as well.

but also the IrishMan will get some awards .

Agreed on Jojo Rabbit, good funny movie! It might win best costume design, I reckon, which is giving good odds on 11.00 hehehe. The new categories are already on Nitrogensports.
even the costume in the end seems funny but the originality is there and all the characters seems to be looking really aged on those costumes.

Best visual effects might be an easy decision. Avengers: Endgame on 2.20.
no doubt since Avengers art director is really good so no wonder they will be getting the visual and art directorial as well.
Another is best original score. 1917 on 3.75. The feeling was similar to The Dark Knight, Sicario, Inception.

i have seen parasite the other night and yeah maybe they can take the best picture or cinematography as it is what they deserve.
Bong Joon Ho to win BEST Director is good odds of 3.0
the Odds are good but i dont think Directorial will come to their position as the director of Joker and Once upon a time is very competent in this category .
It already won for Best International Film and Best Asian Film at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards
but this is Oscar and the basis in choosing is very high so i think the advantage of winning other award giving body's wont take place in this one.
So anything is possible really but 1917 will be hard to look over

maybe 1917 is a good movie but there are some lapses in directorial and reality about the scenes, when they were on the banker and the explosives explode?they come to manage without any bad damage?their ears might be in pain if that happens to a regular human so i find it negative on their part.
