I have a family tradition of watching Oscars live (in my country it's at 3 am) every year, and prior to that watching as many movies as we can and predict the winners in each category. I've been placing predictions before, but never with putting my money on Oscars. Perhaps, it's about time I start, but so far I have not been good at predictions, to be honest Grin
Nitrogensports has quite a shady reputation, though, so I don't know whether it's the best website for this... I would use Sportsbet.io, but I don't see Oscars predictions there (I guess it's fair since it's not really a sport). Anyone here who can name a reputable website that accepts bets on Oscars in BTC?
P.S. Pretty sure Joker's getting the Best Movie award.

Nice topic, thanks for sharing this! I knew nominees, but I didn't know odds. I saw couple movies only, so I can't be a good judge probably. I will probably place a bet on Joaquin Phoenix  as the best actor and Bred Pitt as best supporting actor. Incredible roles and I think these two were on top of their missions. It's easy choice for actors I think, and pretty safe bets. Joaquin as Joker nailed it, move is good only because of him. I don't think that Joker will win Oscar, Once Upon a time is a better movie for my taste, but I didn't see The Irishman, I plan to do that next week.

Bong Joon Ho (Parasite) 3.000 (+200)
Martin Scorsese (The Irishman) 7.500 (+650)
Quentin Tarantino (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) 7.500 (+650)
Todd Phillips (Joker) 34.000 (+3300)
I don't know much about movies but I really like director Quentin Tarantino so I will choose Quentin Tarantino for Best Director.

Best Actor

Leonardo DiCaprio (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) 21.000 (+2000)
Joaquin Phoenix and Leonardo DiCaprio are two formidable rivals for the best actor title but I like Leonardo DiCaprio so I will choose him.

It is still sad that Hollywood has to fight against netflix, right now netflix is getting low level nominations and I feel like marriage story totally deserved it, the Irishman did as well, these are both netflix movies that netflix was capable of producing, there are still other movies that netflix didn't produced however by the looks of it netflix will only get bigger, they are making billions of dollars every single year while getting their library bigger and bigger with more and more original stuff and keeping the non-netflix productions in there as well.

With more money, they will be capable of making even more films, with more films I am sure will come more nominations. Eventually unless stopped (which doesn't need to be stopped, I love netflix) we may see a year where all nominations are from movies netflix produced, they are getting that much powerful. Does this mean netflix is doing something right or does this mean Hollywood is doing something wrong? I am not sure.

Netflix got good amount of nominations, Irishman got 10( for me that movie was disappointment. I am big Scorsese fan, but he should have made that movie 10-15 years ago when main actors were a bit younger), Marriage Story got 6 (best movie of 2019 for me) and The Two Popes got 3(another  pleasant surprise, i really liked the film). So all in all i think it was good year for Netflix and progress compared to previous year (Roma won 3 Oscars and had 10 nominations, that was best film of 2018 for me). So 2 years in a row Netflix distributed my personal movie of the year Smiley

All in all 2019 was good year, and improvement over 2018. These are my personal picks, i watched 90% of the movies that had nominations so doubt i miss anything important that was nominated.

Best picture: Marriage Story
Best director: Sam Mendes
Best actor:Joaquin Phoenix
Best Supporting Actor:Brad Pitt
Best Actress: Scarlet Johansson
Best Supporting Actress: Laura Dern
Bst original screenplay:Marriage Story
Best foreign film: Parasite
Cinematography: Roger Deakins
All sound and music related Oscars:1917
Documentary:Honeyland

I didn't watch all the nominated movies so I won't bet this time.
But if anyone asked me about the best actor I would choose ADAM DRIVER. Having won accolades from Venice, Telluride and Toronto, it seems that Driver will most likely win the nomination and even win the Best Actor category Oscar 2020.

I am big fan of Adam Driver, for me he is one of the best actors around, and it was tough call to decide between Phoenix ( who i also like very much) and him. It was pleasure to watch him in Marriage Story, and i watched those new SW films only because of him, he made them watchable.

@stomachgrowls. 1917 for best motion picture. The Oscars love historic period movies hehehe.

@50 Cent. No. It is a movie about a family in poverty scamming a rich family hehe. I will not spoil any further. The director is good, he also directed Snow Piercer, another good film.

I would rather go with Once Upon... or Irishman. Hollywood went nostalgic and really appreciate those artists that focus on looking on long gone days. Homage to the Golden Era of Hollywood, that's the idea for the Oscar movie. Mark my words.

But I'm already planning to watch parasite because I've heard it was a really nice movie.
Parasite is Korean movie https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6751668/
I am not sure, is it a horror movie?, I saw a movie trailer, look like I am interested to see full movie on my country, but didn't available right now.

It is a Korean movie. I also heard in the news that the movie is one big hit. And it got many awards. In fact, I saw the director being awarded in the last Golden Globe Award. I don't know what particular award or awards that actually go to them but it was well-acknowledged and applauded. The director was nominated as well as the movie itself.

It's funny that I have my own opinion whom I think will will when I've only watched joker from all the movies in the list lol. But I'm already planning to watch parasite because I've heard it was a really nice movie. That's why I think it can win the best picture since this movie won at Cannes Film Festival.
Definitely I won't bet for this since I lack knowledge and I can't analyze it very well since I haven't watched those movies but that's my guess. Parasite for the best picture.

It is amazing of you guys having these picks. You must have watched most or all of the movie nominees in the Oscars?

Even Joker is still on my to-watch list. Lol.

Anyway, good luck if you made bets on your prediction.

I'm a fan of movies yet haven't watched most of them. Only watched two of them the Joker and Once upon a time in Hollywood. Probably the Joker might get a lot of rewards from this. Joacquin might get another win as the best actor here. Really love his acting as Joker.

I can understand 1917 getting the biggest possibility because it was really not a "acting movie" like for example marriage story was, it was a success mostly due to its director. However at the same time, Joker was a great movie, I get that Joaquin was the person who made that movie, director played a great role in it as well, I didn't watched parasite so I can't comment on that but I certainly feel like Todd deserves it more than Tarantino at least possibly even more than Scorsese.

Plus, seeing Scarlett Johansson at both best actress for marriage story AND best supporting actress for Jojo Rabit, I don't know if that is a common thing in Oscars, I just can't recall anyone having a chance to win both of those awards before, would be very weird to see honestly but it looks like she has a low chance for both of them.

Once upon a Time was the favorite to win the best picture award but I will be rooting for the joker to coup up into this category. Though I am not betting into this kind of gambling, I am still going to follow the result of the event.

This is an exciting even to wait for and if there's an actual gambling for this one I would love to try betting small amount of Satoshi, if ever they'll be using crypto. Hopefully, the betting session of this event will be fun and brings luck to everyone who is going to participate with the betting game.
I think looking it quite difficult to look for my bet for best actress and actor.

yes there are sites that support odds for this kind of events   . there was once a thread here on this section before that the op ask for websites about oscar awards betting and it has many site suggestions   .

its okay if you will bet small because you think that it will be difcult for you to choose if who will be the winner but betting for fun only , why not  ? the joker was also a good movie and im also rooting for it like the others have said   .
