i'm sure paypal still don't accept bitcoin because it's not regulated yet on their country (America) if it's already officially regulated then they'll sure accept it,they won't risking their company for only 1 currency which could potentially drive them to abuse the current rules

Now is the time of bitcoinand any payment processor which will not accept bitcoin will die, so paypal is a little clever and for their survival they adopted bitcoin and will continue with that, but i wish they do not bother their users.

May I know the reason why does Paypal do not accept bitcoin as payment and/or deposit?! I know that Bitcoin is known widely on the internet so Paypal should accept it as a mode of payment since their forte is through the internet. I hope that someday, PayPal will acknowledge Bitcoin and put it as one of the mode of payment in their site. It will be very convenient for us.

When you link a card to paypal it asks you to put a code that they sent to your bank or you receive on your e-banking account so it verifies that you own that card but how will they act when you want to link or to send money from your bitcoin wallet to paypal, I think they don't want to support money laundry or hackers because they don't know if your coins are legal or not.

I think this news was about a month ago or a few weeks back, not too sure.
Paypal has only announced its interest in adopting bitcoin to its payment service, but there's no concrete plan yet.

One probably reason why paypal has done this is to be one of the early adopters of bitcoin and be able to set the standards for fees, which they kind of had done with cash. I'm just afraid that their fees would go too much.

News were about the availability of cashout to Paypal account, if you sell BTC, only for US people, so it's only a little step.
The main goal would be the acceptance of Paypal when you buy BTC, but the interest of Bitcoin and Paypal is not the same in these kind of transactions, so we'll see it if it will be worked out or not at all...

Besides recent Coinbase-PayPal partnership (and it is not the only exchange partnered with PP - we have BitPay and GoCoin too) we had news about new bitcoin related patents which PayPal owns.
Albeit it is not fully clear yet but we might see PayPal integration with bitcoin in the near future. It will be most likely in the form of multiple currency hardware wallet patented by PayPal and being developed.

This device will be answer for increased demand of universal tool for customers as PayPal noticed that people are purchasing items and services over the the Internet more and more.
And this device will be a killer gadget for mobile payment service providers such as PayPal and bitcoin integration should make it even more universal. We need to wait.

PayPal isn't accepting bitcoin because average people would figure out PayPal fees are ridiculous in comparison to bitcoin. People would dump PayPal & use bitcoin exclusively.

Bitcoin is a major threat to PayPal in the long run.
paypal just stating planning to accept bitcoin but in cooperation with coinbase, paypal trying to make bitcoin to become a chance to get profit for them rather than considering it as a thread, they'll take  advantage of anything even it's actually a threat before and turn it into chance to make them rich

I think that Bitcoin have several very good reasons for it.
First is volatility of bitcoin, so they have to be careful not to have financial lost because of Bitcoin.
Second is anonymity of Bitcoin. Paypal have very strict TOS and refund policy but with Bitcoin  they can't know identity of scammer and block his access to Paypal.
Third is that Bitcoin is not yet mainstream and no so many Paypal users also use Bitcoin as payment option.

its because of the volatility of bitcoin, if paypal started converting bitcoins to paypal balance and vice versa, people would start using paypal as a bitcoin exchange which they probably dont like.

I can't see Paypal ever taking it on officially. Bitcoin's too anonymous and not reversible so there's no way they can offer their users protection (rape). They'd have to become a full on escrow service and that's a lot of work for anyone.

The Coinbase arrangement is about as good as it'll get but I'm willing to be surprised.

Maybe because it would not merge with their current system? For example, bitcoin is not reversible, its a huge change in their service thats why it would not fit.

Even that users can't directly use Bitcoin to PayPal trading and exchange BTC to USD or their local currency on the fly. There is still hope for this feature to be presented in the future.
Rcently PayPal and Coinbase joined forces. Coinbase added direct support for PayPal bitcoin purchases. It is the first official exchange to utilize this feature.

I`m waiting for this too. This will remove a lot of problems and risks.

But why only Paypal? Some pp competitors like Skrill should also adopt bitcoin.

When the competition adopts btc, paypal will be forced to accept btc as well.

Remember as well that the only reason that PayPal is where its at today is because of eBay.  Had eBay not existed then PayPal would never have become the Internets main way to pay.  Hopefully open bazaar can do the same for bitcoin.

As far as O know youq can register your Visa or Master Bitcoin debit card with PayPal and thus you can use your coins with PayPal. Direct deposits or payments at the moment are not possible.
