Well after what happened to NH few years back I don't blame them for initial overreaction. But the way they handled the whole thing... yuk

What happened back in 2017 has nothing in common with what they did this past weekend except that both incidents are the fault of NH.  Other than that, nothing in common.

Phoenix,

You guys may want to consider legal action. Seems like pretty clear cut defamation and anyone that switches off of PhoenixMiner because of their misinformation would be legitimate legal damages. If they want to be bullies a good legal punch in the nose is the least they deserve. If nothing else a letter from a lawyer may be enough to get them to issue a public apology if only out of fear of the legal follow through.

Also not sure what kind of Admin controls you have on this thread, but maybe prevent people from posting links, I've seen 2 brand new accounts in the past few minutes posting "temporary links for phoenixminer"

Maybe see if Bitcointalk can figure out where the accounts are coming from. Might be an individual bad actor trying to take advantage.

Sadly NH is not based in a country with a strong legimate legal system.  If it were, djeZo would be in the custody of the FBI for outstanding warrants regarding is 2019 crimes.  Suing NH is going to be an uphill battle and honestly the money is better spent building a better miner and promoting it.  Yeah it will take time for most people to get past the shit that NH threw and trust PM again, but like Johnson and Johnson (Tylenol incident) they will get past it.

I don't think you can sue without revealing your identity to someone.  This whole thing just reaks of ways to get him to reveal his identity which is highly sus.

My thought exactly after I read his suggestion LOL

Here are our thoughts about the whole debacle with MEGA terminating our account (and the accounts of many other miner developers), and NiceHash's "overreaction", which we now believe was a deliberate smear campaign, and perhaps something even more malicious.

I agree, NH has a very large army, and they have a lot of purchased media. phoenix is very little advertised, so we need to spread more information about it on all platforms.
Moreover, many bloggers are already calling to leave Phoenix for other programs, this should not be allowed, since Phoenix is the most convenient program at the moment!
Thank you to all the sites, social networks, and bloggers who don't believe NH and continue to support Phoenix!

Phoenix is good because many bloggers and resources tell you in detail how to launch it.
For many, it is still a gap to set up a batch file for yourself. In addition, you can find detailed documentation on how to reduce voltage, control fans, and overclock right in the batch file.
But in general, yes, the audience goes to NiceHash, I see it in my telegram

djeZo's still throwing wild accusations on the NH subreddit and users who didn't see his behavior here have no idea how badly he's been behaving.

For someone claiming to be touch with his lawyers, he really should pay more attention to them. Or at least NiceHash's PR department... if they have one.

Edit: NiceHash is now cleaning up their subreddit, locking PM's post linking to this thread and deleting unfavorable comments. What was that about trusting non-anonymous devs again?

I think this screenshot says more than any amount of words could in regard to their response to this.

Any reasonable company would have:

  • Posted a short incident response message and temporarily removed the PhoenixMiner plugin;
  • Restored said plugin once their concerns were addressed; and
  • Shutdown all of djeZo's posts, or at the very least made it abundantly clear that he was/is not acting on their behalf.

I have met interns straight out of high school that could have handled a potential incident response better than NiceHash, what sort of processes do they have (or not have) in place that this seems like an appropriate course of action for them? No wonder they got hacked.

I hate to think what their security policies and processes are like if this is how disciplined they are in something as simple as making a press release.

But problem is that this way they might leak their true identities. And might achieve exactly what NH wants, for whatever sinister reasons they need it (lets say using some of their BTC on dark web, or so).

Friendly Reminder!

Do not trust the fake "reuploads" that keep getting spammed in the thread (and removed), as they might contain a virus and are not official.
Only use the github link in the first post of the thread and remember to check the SHA hashes to verify your download.

Thanks for the update (OK), its confirmed what has been discussed previously by many over the last few days.

NiceHash should be eating some very much humbled pie and using the same 'channels' to explain the mistake.

Also explain the process that been implemented to stop it ever happening again.

This is technically the best outcome of what 'could' have happened from pushing a 'spurious' auto upgrade to so many hundreds of thousands of systems with no due diligence.
The power of having that many 'dumb waiters' in the shaft could have brought 'alot of things' to the ground level with a bump.

In any war, both lose. However, PhoenixMiner will lose a large audience from this conflict, unlike NiceHash, because they have a large media resource.

What to do?

We need to spread good information about PhoenixMiner on blogs, on youtube, in chats. In every way to promote the PhoenixMiner project in media. Because it is the most convenient and fastest miner.

NiceHash, obviously, will continue to play dark and throw mud at PhoenixMiner, trying to ruin his reputation so that he will be forgotten.

But we will not allow this to be done.

We'll win the media war if need be, because Phoenix is so much better, safer, and more reliable than NiceHash  Cool.

I have acquaintances in crypto media (websites, twitter, reddit, discrod, youtube). At least for my part, I will tell them the whole situation so that they do not believe in the tales from NiceHash and so that PhoenixMiner does not lose its audience.

Nicehash is already waving its information cudgel in full swing. Having an audience of 50k + on twitter, 80k on facebook, 65k + on reddit.
Many people I know are now afraid to use phoenix after being falsely accused by nicehash - "STOP using Phoenix miner immediately!" they write in frightening red font. And about malicious closed source code and wild anonymity (ahaha in cryptocurrency, are they afraid of anonymity?)

I think that if phoenix DevTeam wants to be anonymous, then they have every right to do so. Nobody should tell them or even ask them to go through KYC.

I will also go to urge bloggers against nicehash and agitate for phoenix.

Hello,
my installed PhonixMiner 5c does not detect my second GPU connected with the pci riser. But the GPU is detect by Windows and displayed in device manager. There are 2 GPUs one on PCI 9 and the Second on PCI 4. GPUZ shows me also 2 GPUs.
But PhoenixMiner only detect the one on PCI 9.

The GPUs are NVIDIA Geforce RTX 3070.

Needs it an config parameter in the config.txt  for the second GPU or what i make wrong? In the first Post in the description i dont find a flag or something like this.

Good summary and keep up the good work. I use PM for everything except R7 cards.

Nicehash has been loosing users due to mining profitability and have been agrressive in marketing.

If I used them, I have always mined directly.

Everybody must be excremly causious these days with everyting related to Crypto.
